It's a nice coat isn't it?

I like it. I'd like one actually and to be honest, I have a decent job, earn an ok amount, could afford it, if I was rash, but it's just a coat and to be frank, it is a little on the pricey side.

There's a 10% off deal though if you send Mr Smith your details so he can spam you with more offers of reasonably priced clothing.

I wonder how many United customers, I mean fans, might buy this coat.

If there's no zips on the pockets then it's a no go for me

And the fact it costs a fecking fortune - can't be justifying that for a coat when I could use that for a holiday instead

The fact the model looks like he’s a school kid wearing a bog standard school coat doesn’t encourage me to spend more than £80 on a coat.

There's also a scarf, a snip at 120 quid (it is nice though, I'll admit that), or, a pen, for 110 snicker.

Or, or, a pyjama set for.....................................two hundred and twenty fecking quid. Well if it gets your partner in the mood, it might be worth it I suppose.

So I'm wondering now if I should be "flattered" and United see me as someone based on whatever data they have on me who is likely to shell out this excessive amount on a coat.

Did everyone registered at the united shop website get this mail I wonder?

£1000 for a coat...

But no more free dinners.

Something doesn't seem quite right.

Wasn't Paul Smith a sponsor at some point or still is? Could be a freebie from them..I mean the fact we are talking about this jacket now on a football forum says it was an excellent move (if my theory is correct).

I do be admiring Ruben's drip.

That’s Canada goose prices, which is the best jacket investment you can make

How do you feel about his best on top of the hoodie look, rather than getting a vest with hood already attached?

It works...wouldn't be my style but guy looks like fresh fruit stand at a posh supermarket each time he steps out

I work in this industry and that thing cost maybe £35 from the factory. All you're buying is the brand, as is the case with most things.

"100% PolyamideFilling: 80% Recycled Down, 20% Feather"

Since its advertised as water-repellent I assume it has a waterproofing of 5000mm, which means its water repellent until it starts raining.

I would genuinely suggest not buying this jacket for that price, or even half off

Cheers for the insight, I knew the markup was ridiculous for these higher end brands but didn't realise it was by that much. It doesn't help the quality standards have become worse, I've bought some of the more expensive brands and the build quality and materials is shocking, you are essentially are just buying the brand name.

I mean, most of us are aware you almost never pay for the product itself. you're paying for the brand and the chance someone could recognize that you're wearing the same coat as the Utd manager in this case.

but it looks nice on him. so plenty would want it on themselves. I would, just not for that money

Always wondered what coat it was. Looks really good on him and was something I was curious about getting. But on the website it’s not something I would buy, is he’s a bomber version ? Because it does look more stylish on him.

Edit: pretty bad, don’t buy this. It doesn’t even state the down power /fill. Get an Arcteryx parka for £600-£800 and you’ll have something fully waterproof, windproof , and good for temperatures down to minus 30

You could get a top of the range Arc'teryx for that with a fair bit of change to spare.

£1k for a coat that's not even waterproof
Under new Labour Government initiatives, those who were claiming PIP will have to shield the wealthy from inclement weather by walking next to them with an umbrella, or throwing themselves in puddles and have the wealthy treads across them. Waterproof clothing is now only a concern for the disabled, idle and working class.

It’s true. I coached my Son’s Under 8s team into the dirt, just to be like Ten Hag.

I'd imagine that it was gifted by Paul Smith. He'll be getting loads of free clothes, gets people on forums advertising it for free after all...

Or this yeah given their existing brand relationship that I wasn't aware of. Seemed to be some insinuation from OP that United are cutting costs all over the place but buying Amorim expensive clobber.

The insinuation is that United have lost touch with their real fans if everyone is getting mails like this. Man, I thought that was obvious!

Not from you sorry, from the poster I quoted in my original reply.

Exactly what I wrote. I know the lines between premium outwear brands & designer brands are a bit blurred. But if looking to buy a coat for winter or extreme weather you’re always best of going for premium outwear. Arc’teryx, Patagonia, 66 North,
