Bloody hell, Australia are in India's group. That's one loss for AUS already.

Deadline for submitting final squads is today. Gives PCB a bit of a headache because PSL has just got started.

India big favourites. Oman are at better odds than Leicester at the start of the season.

India or NZ to win this IMO. England could be fun to watch the way they've been playing recently.

What date is the India-Pak game?

Seen a few PSL games, it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. Some of the bowlers have performed well to date & hopefully will take some form with them into this.

Too early to have thread for a tournament which is a more than month away for proper rounds :)

I like WT20 though, especially compared to IPL. Group 2 is very tough and last team it will have from qualifying will be from group A, so most likely Bangladesh

I would've preferred it if pitches were flatter and the batsmen got a proper chance to set big scores and chase big scores. Pakistan's biggest weakness is lacking the firepower and penetration in the top and middle order. At the moment the batsmen are only thinking about surviving and putting 140 on the board which kind of reflects the national team. We aren't seeing any batting talent because of the pitches being so bowling friendly, it's a real shame.

Aaron Finch probably won't play in this competition. He would have been Australia's captain had he been fit, that honour will go Steve Smith.

:D

England will be fun to watch for once in a world event. Well technically they've always been comedy gold but this time I think they mean business. They've started taking limited overs cricket seriously since the WC. Got rid of the daft test players and built a team well suited for white ball cricket.

Australia haven't won it before and I doubt they will do it here either. No Starc, no experienced spinner, don't fancy their bowling. Strong batting though.

Can't see AUS winning this competition. Not getting excuses in early, but they've only played 7 twenty20 games since the last world twenty20 in 2014. India were mightily impressive in the hit and giggle series in Australia recently.

I have no idea how Aus came up with the squad, seems like the series loss to India caused some panic. Having said that I think it's impossible to rule any team with so much quality out in a format like t20.

@Samid, didn't you say the deadline was yesterday? How come PCB have yet to name their squad ? I just read they shortlisted 18 players.

I think they've sent in the squad to the ICC but have requested them not to reveal it just yet because it might affect player performances in the Pakistan Super League.

England have a really solid team, I would have put them as one of the favourites if they had picked KP.

KP has ridiculous numbers in T20s and even more so in T20Is. Would've walked into any other international team.

They are probably lacking a bowler as well. Jordan is a nothing cricketer.

Dharamshala is a brilliant ground. High scoring for sure. Small ground and brilliant batting surface.

@zing will probably be glad Pawan Negi is in the squad :D

What the hell happened to India yesterday? They played so well vs AUS in Australia (albeit a weakened AUS team) yet were dreadful vs Sri Lanka. Kholi can't be that important to India or is he?

They played on a greener top than those we saw in the previous Ashes. Unfortunately we won't be seeing pitches like that in the WT20.

I was pretty confident before that squad announcement but theres a couple of really weird selections.

The battings ok, you could make a case for Luke Wright, but he's had a lot of chances in T20i's and never really sparkled. If Finn's actually going to be fit then thats fine, but if Jordan gets a game we're fecked. Really not sure about Dawson either, weird selection. I know he finished the season strong, but he's a real average cricketer and has no right being in an international team.

Roy, Hales, Root, Buttler, Morgan, Stokes, Ali, Rashid, Willey, Finn, Topley I'd guess, we're fecked with an injury to any bowler though.

Might I ask why Usman Khawaja is being very highly considered by many of the ex players ? Is there something about him that I am missing ?

Jeez. Highest run scorer in that tournament and player of the tournament in 2014, something i think he'll replicate in this years world twenty20.
Big ask to match that tbh. He scored a half century in all but the first game and even there he top scored for India. Singlehandedly chased the South African score in the semi final, and would've won the final for India too if Yuvraj didn't feck it up and keep him off strike for the last 4 overs.

No, as in, England won the tournament that followed the one they hosted, as did West Indies, as did Sri Lanka. Bangladesh were the host last time around.
Ah like that. If it was a better team I'd give them a chance. But Bangladesh will need too much luck to win the whole thing.
