4-3-3. Strong link of the DMF with the CBs. Link of the L/RBs with the L/RForwards.
Big names in the MF (assists + goals as SS when the opportunity is clear) + a CF mainly focused on scoring + but also one-touch assists to the L/RForwards (Larsson?)

High-pressing (first line of the defense are the three forwards), possession important but not an obsession (look for the counter attacks in the wings); the game must be played in the opposition's field when in possession of the ball (use the wings) ; accuracy in long shots mandatory (or don't shoot); quality/accuracy in long passes mandatory (or bench it is). Looking for the header in corners. Walking not tolerated (train harder).

EDIT: (if the match needs to be killed, or a defensive approach): 4-5-1 (another DMF instead of a AMF, the wingers focused on defending+counters).

Liverpool but with Drogba instead of Firmino

High-press and counter-press mixed with kick&rush tactics when building from the back

Low block, narrow midfield, defensive wingers and striker harassing the opposition midfield playmaker. Compact and resolute with lightning fast counter attacks. Pretty much described Simeone's Atletico and Jose's Inter at their peak.

Sign only techno-midgets under 5'5 and win the quadruple every year.

Twat it long to the big man. 3 Ander Herreras in midfield, being utter shithouses.

Everyone's doped up as feck. Practically bionic knees. ACLs heal like the T1000 in Terminator 2.

I’d put the club up for sale, vying to be sold to a middle eastern country, perhaps an Emirate with a questionable human rights track record, then proceed to threaten all football associations with infinite lawsuits if they try to stop us

Football wise I’m a bellend, so probably a 1950s 4-2-4 with a midfield consisting of John O’Shea and Darren Gibson

I'd go full Clough. Partner up with someone from my youth I can trust as co-manager, keep and identify the gems already at the club, win something small -as he did at Forest first- like the Anglo-Scottish Cup, get immediate promotion, build from the back with intimidating centre backs and overlapping full backs, nothing over complicated in midfield, one world class playmaker like John Robertson somewhere, a monster in goal, win the Premier League, then guarantee immediate success in the European Cup by the addition of a world historical signing like Trevor Francis was, all the time scaring John Motson in interviews and having more charisma and borderline nutjob personality than you can fecking believe. Those would be my tactics.

A setup similar to 2010 Netherlands WC run (front 6 at least). 4 creative attackers/midfielders (all-around forward, 2 wingers/inside forwards, No. 10). Two maulers/hardmen behind the attackers in midfield to win the ball quickly and balance out the attack (at least one should be a good passer). One ball playing CB. One physical, pacy CB. Two pacy fullbacks who can either tackle or pass well. Against smaller sides, swap a DM for a box-to-box midfielder. Against better sides, swap the No. 10 for a box-to-box midfielder. Counterattacking, high press football, so good stamina is a requirement (no passengers) even at the sacrifice of creativity.

Work hard. Have players with experience, with pace, who are comfortable on the ball. Subs might come on and win the game so they have to concentrate and watch the game. Give the fans summat to shout about.

Goalkeeper's priority is shot stopping, but dominance of the box is essential, as is distribution.

Defenders must prioritize defending, be physically strong and fast so can play a high line, but also need great technical and passing ability so can play out from the back

Midfielders must be tenacious and outwork opposition, but the defensive midfielder must be strong and possess a great passing range, while the two ahead must have great vision and creativity as well.

The wingers must work extremely hard defensively, while also being capable of taking players on with close control, work as inverted wingers or advanced playmakers, capable of taking it to the byline with pace and cutting back, or cutting inside to score.

The centre forward must be as strong as a bull I'd use him as a target man, lightning quite so he can run in behind, with great movement, finishing, link up play, heading ability, creativity and technique.

My team will play out from the back, while also looking for the direct ball, look to get in behind on the wings while also playing through the middle, dominate possession but play on the counter attack, and score from outside the box while looking to work it into the box to score only when there's a clear cut opportunity.

I call it the 'Redcafe minimum requirements' tactic.

4 3 3. Able passing keeper (ederson). Good back 4 capable of playing from the back. At least one seriousse attacking fullback (the other one can be descent going forward but but also can be an auxiliary centre back (Abidal). Dedicated holder good on the ball. 2 midfielders capable of both attacking and defending. 1 out and out forward, good technicality and can also be good in the air as a plan b (Zlatan), plus 2 inverted wingers who can score.
Basicly mixture of early Pep at Barca and current City Pep.

Wow.

That was like a cross-over episode of The Office.

I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.

Mourinho has set a new trend hasn't he. Were going to be talking about high block low block compact block for good.

Focused defense with a good counterattacking offense. No frills, try and get a Pirlo type player in the middle of the park.

Not on this forum!
It's relatively new to me and I think I actually first heard about it on this forum. Graeme Souness didn't understand when Alex Scott said it when they were both pundits and he asked her what she meant when she said it.

She told him and he then said something like "Defending deep then?"

That's maybe about a year ago and I wouldn't have known if it wasn't for that. It was the first time I'd heard the term and it still seems a bit superfluous to me when you can just say defending deep.

4-2-3-1 with all seasoned professionals, no youngsters

Striker is a target man, one winger a workhorse and one a worldie with my #10 having pace and vision. One midfielder is a workhorse and sharp presser and the other a tactical presser cutting down passing lanes and also the link player. My wingbacks should be able to run for 180 minutes straight and should never let a cross make it into the box. Both defenders should be pacy, physical and comfortable with their feet in that order. One of the central defenders is ideally a leader and the captain so that he can be my enforcer on the pitch to keep things compact.

Managing the game in all four major blocks

1. Out of possession
2. In defensive possession
3. Defense to attack transition
4. Attack

1. Out of possession

Most important thing is compactness and defending as a team. The distance from the deepest outfielder to the striker and between the two full backs should never vary by more than 5% regardless of where you are out of possession in the pitch. Both defenders to sit back and only press inside their own box. Only my two midfielders should press and cut down passing lanes. Full backs should stick to the opposition's wingers and the wingers to their full backs almost to a point of man marking regardless of pitch position. Except worldie who can be ready for the counter and the #10 covers for him with the full back.

2. In possession

After winning the ball, make sure the ball goes to the link midfielder in 2 touches and try to transition. If that's not the possible, keep trying to find space behind the full backs with through balls. Ideally give the ball to the link midfielder or #10 in space who can do the job. Trust specialists.

3. Transition

Anticipate when you are winning or losing the ball. Will Coach team through videos of hundreds of scenarios of how teams lose and win the ball and where each player should while these events are happening.

4. Attack

In attack, it's all about final ball and being clinical. Trust the attacking players to beat the full backs with skill and make the crosses and through balls and finish as much as they can
