Manchester United have reached agreement with Shanghai Greenland Shenhua to extend the loan deal for Odion Ighalo.
The Nigerian striker's stay was initially due to end on 31 May but he will now remain with the Reds until 31 January 2021, enabling him to build on an impressive start to life with the club he supported as a boy.

Ighalo's tally of four goals in eight appearances so far includes at least one strike in each of his three starts - against Club Brugge, Derby County (2) and LASK

Great news. Avoids us spending unnecessary funds on average strikers like Josh King and Moussa Dembele.

Brilliant news. It would have been stupid of us to spend 60 odd million on dembele when we need to strengthen other areas and could use the funds to purchase sancho.

Also, this could give some more time for Greenwood to grow and maybe convince the club that we may not need a striker.

Viva ighalo

Great stuff. Will be especially helpful now we have to play a lot of games in a short space of time.

We could still need another striker. It gives us time to wait for the right guy though.

If it lets us focus on other areas this summer then it's hard to argue with really.

Very happy with this. He’s been excellent since arriving and hopefully he picks up from where he left off once the football resumes.

Doesn't the Chinese season end in January? Surely we'll extend again till next summer in that case?

Great news and good to see (at least appears from the outside) that we were not bullied in to paying over the odds for him.

The 18 year old who looks set to feature in around 50 games this season? Must be a different Greenwood.
4 League starts this season in a team that struggles to score. Needs to go and get consistent minutes elsewhere at CF next season.

He’ll get more starts next season. He’s already a hugely important member of the squad and will actively help put points on the board. Loaning him would be madness. Thankfully, nobody at the club would consider letting him leave.

He’s going to sign a new contract worth £400k a week, until he’s 34. What a day for him.

Bloody great news.

a little strange for it to end in January - but given we don’t know when next season will start, it provides us with a good back up.

his attitude has been absolutely spot on. Please to have him at OT.

Great news. Ighalo has the desire and attitude required to be a very important squad member. Nigeria always has some wonderkids coming through so maybe with Ighalo here it can help attract a talented kid from there to come.

All we need now is Mr. Jadon and we go into next season in good shape.

1st full season in men's football, I think Ole has done a brilliant job of managing his minutes considering our injury woes upfront.

We need to send Greenwood out on loan.
I doubt there is anyone who will agree with you.

the most important at thing is that there is zero chance of him going on loan.

would you trust one of best academy player’s we have had in a long time to another club, or would you rather Utd develop and nurture him?

such a poor post.

Great news. No idea what the nonsense about needing to send Greenwood on loan is about though, bonkers. Both will play plenty and really offer very different things and are playing different roles in the squad.

Why would we even think of doing that? Surely 90% of the fans would want him to play the role he is now.

Ole is doing well to give him minutes and opportunity to play under the pressures of United.

signing Ighalo changes nothing.

Good news and I'm happy, but could leave us light up front for the run in next season if we use this as a reason not to strengthen up top.

Happy with this, only expected a short loan, didn't think it would be until January.

Perfect short term solution and doesn’t tie us in to anything beyond January or cost too much. Excellent.

OGS has managed Greenwood brilliantly. I wouldn’t trust a manager of another team to manage this lad - he’s not the type of player you loan out.

he’s made 36 appearances this season for goodness sake.

some posters are just mental.
