Infantino planning to sell stakes in the World Cup to investors | Scrapped

Bribing the world cup final for yourself after already been found to be a crook, then still refuse to go. this guy is something else

Is anyone really surprised? The majority of the FAs is just as corrupt as Infantino is, and even those not considered generally corrupt kept ignoring all the shit he pulled right up to the point that the FFE got public.

He's only sorry he was caught they baldy rat

It's astonishing he's trying to make it sound like it was an easy mistake to make and a root cause analysis will solve it happening again. Like what is this review going to say? Don't be greedy and consult your stakeholders?!

Oh it’s getting better

This makes so much sense. The same JP Morgan scumbags that see football as fundamentally “under commercialised” or whatever are behind the dossiers for the Super League and flogging the World Cup.

Of course Infantino was there from the beginning.

If there was still any doubt, we now have confirmation that the entire FIFA management board is rotten to its core and they all need to go, not just Infantino. It needs to be burned down completely.

The management board are just people who work directly for Infantino and were hired by him, aren't they? This announcement means bugger all if the actual members are still pissed.

glad to see so many up in arms about this potential farce. it is a working man’s game. it always has been, always will be. you go to the match and have a pint or two beforehand and a meat pie or a cheese and onion one if you’re a lady, or a, you know.

you get to your seat and you offer out the opposition fans for a fight and call the referee a nonce for 90 minutes, often neglecting to watch most of the game. then it’s on to the pub for carling and coke until you have a fall out with the missus and have to consider giving her a slap, especially if the boys lost. that’s football.

in no uncertain terms should it ever go woke enough that fifa think they can sell steaks during world cup matches. don’t get me wrong, i like myself a nice well done one down the carvery every now and then but not during the football. common sense has prevailed.

Here hear

My dad first told me in 1991 that money had ruined football.....

This shit is hilarious, they've whored out the fecking world cup FFS and are still prepared to try to grift it out... amazing.

Yeah, I guess so. It's just quite a U-turn from Infantino's second-in-command Mattias Grafström calling the sell-off plan a "sad and reproachable series of events" just a day ago to now endorsing his boss again and signing essentially an open declaration of war on his critics. I guess Infantino has everything he needs to take them down with him and has kindly made that clear to them.

Of course the “executives” and management board support him. They knew about these plans and were in on it. It’s the member/FA’s and other parties related to football who started the blowback. He must be fecking ousted with a vote of no confidence and fecking tried for corruption and bribery.

I’m so sick of this fecking world we live. The rich only end up getting richer and they’re seemingly more and more invincible from any real consequences or justice. Yet, if I - a layman, was taken for a £50 dinner by a supplier and didn’t follow due process of disclosure/transparency, I’d probably be fired. This guy is out there promising World Cup finals and $40m “payments” for people supporting him.

That’s it. The way guys like Infantino and Trump can be openly corrupt in the most brazen and shameless way possible with seemingly total impunity is infuriating.

He's definitely getting reelected. All he needs to do is buy himself time and make sure that the cash will keep lining the pockets of the small FAs. Straight out of Blatter's handbook who won the elections amidst 14 arrests for racketeering and corruption in 2015. Just like all elites, he's probably more annoyed than scared and he's treating the whole thing as a mere nuisance.

Yeah this is another reason why one country one vote doesn’t work.
Not saying I disagree in this particular case, but what's the alternative? Each confederation having a vote and then vote by federation basis for FIFA president? A FIFA version of the UN Security Council where the teams that have been world champions have a veto? Weighted voting based on certain objective parameters?

There's just no easy solutions to this. At the end of the day it's about money. Small federations see the eye watering amounts of money being moved in professional football and want a slice of that pie.

Yeah, they're not even subtle about it anymore (if they ever were).

Yep, I'm sure he also sees this as a mere 'speed bump' and not a full on cul-de-sac for his plans. If he remains in power, he will seek another way to work towards his end goal (probably more power and definitely a shit ton more money).

Could have any voting system you want, it won’t change the corruption that flows through FIFA’s veins.

Same if Infantino fecks off and is replaced by a new random suit. Same shit will be happening all over again, currying favour with random FAs, promising things that shouldn’t be able to be promised.

Need root and branch change. Not sure what that looks like, but it starts with the dissolution of FIFA and a new world governing body taking over, with the vast majority of execs replaced. Probably unlikely!

I think that replacing FIFA with a new FIFA won’t really accomplish anything. The problem is that there’s so much money in the game that any organisation that wields so much power over football will eventually become just as corrupt as FIFA is now. It needs to be broken up into smaller organisations, each having clearly defined responsibilities over things like organising tournaments, football development, etc, term limits for officials, and maximum transparency over all decisions. Each organisation would act as a check and balance on the others, and no single individual should ever wield as much power as Infantino ever again.

No veto but yes a council. Maybe a council that rotates a bit. It has to include top countries. Current system doesnt work.

Hahaha the Spaniards - and UEFA - trying to use this moment to get the World Cup Final, by shaping public narrative. God forbid that Morocco - with the biggest football stadium in the world, part of the continent who’s turn it was to host the World Cup and reason that Spain and Portugal are even organising the 2030 World Cup, because of all the votes Morocco brought with it from CAF and the Middle Eastern Countries - will host the final. Everyone forgot that it is the divine right of Spain and UEFA, to again organise a final in a country that already hosted it. Shame on the rest of the world!

Completely agree that the FIFA president wields far too much power. I like your idea of individual organisations with independent mandates, perhaps staffed by elected officials from each continental FA.

But there are lots of things that can be implemented in a new global body that would go a long a way to reducing the individual power held by the president. E.g. shorter term limits and rotating presidencies - basically anything that prevents the same execs staying in position for anything longer than a single cycle or term limit.

Because the biggest reason for corruption is that individual FA heads and FIFA execs are in power for 10 years plus - meaning they have utterly ages to come together and decide how best to rape the sport for their own personal gain. Jack Warner was on the committee for 28 years, as an example.

Infantino is the most blatant, but FIFA has been corrupt since it was founded in 1904. The whole thing needs dismantling and starting again.

Speaking of trying to shape narrative; what's your thoughts on Infantino's blatant corruption and ignoring proper procedure so he can sell the sport for his own personal gain?

Because let's not forget why he's offering Morocco the final all of a sudden...

"Group of baby eaters declare they fully support their chief baby eater, and will stop eating babies from now on. In other news, now we have stopped eating babies how dare you accuse us of eating babies.

We will now slowly eat babies but make you aware that we are going to do it just beforehand. This will obviously get rid of everyone's concerns about the whole thing, as communication was the primary issue with our general baby eating ways."

It wasn’t anyone's turn to host.

They scrapped the turn taking after two rounds (2010 and 2014) and introduced the "not hosted within the last two tournaments" rule.

As AFC hosted 2022 and CONCACAF 2026, it was open to UEFA, CONMEBOL, CAF and O.F.C.

never underestimate the powers of persuasion, when the person doing the persuading holds a very detailed dossier about everything shady you've ever done or said in your life, in one hand, and a big wad of cash in the other.

This was apparent for years but yes Fifa needs to be nuked.

Is this astroturfing or are you doing it for free?

When exactly did this happen? In the real world I mean, not when it happened in your head.
