We can talk about the Messi and Ronaldos all day but this little fella is some player. I was wondering if there is another player similar to him playing in some other league out there.

He is in a class of his own in his postion, but who out there is closest. Maybe some youngster that can be groomed. Cause if there is lets get him on the books. Brillant performance last night from the little pale spainard.

Probably the best player in the world right now, I like his humility and the fact he is not in the spotlight as are Ronaldo or Messi. Reminds be a bit of Scholes in this aspect. The lad is class, no doubt.

I think De Rossi (backed like a team like ours) could do the trick. Gerrard is also a great talent.

If United were looking to get a type of player like an Iniesta, which player do you believe could get anywhere close to this guys standard. Some youngster out there maybe.

David Silva if we converted him to play as a central midfielder... Then again Iniesta doesnt always play there.

And Valencia have played Silva there once or twice this season. Its not his ideal position though and he's almost pure potential at this point. Bit of an enigma, like Iniesta for much of this season. Geniusly talented but doesnt get too many goals/assists. Of course Iniesta went and put that right at the end of his season.

Thats the only one I can think of that would be able to play in a similar way to him.

I disagree with the less productive part Ekeke because it's not his role to be that player. In terms of pure technique he's better than Messi but the argentinian edges it when it comes to overall efficiency

After yesterday's game Polish commentator said that it was Messi's night. I'm sure he wasn't the only who said something like that.

For me it was Iniesta who won this trophy for them and La Liga as well.

I think he should receive all the awards for 2009 year, but I'm sure it's going to be Messi...

Shouldn't even have been on the pitch last night if not for that wanker of a referee at Stamford Bridge.

There a young boy (12-13ish) at Watford's academy who is unbelievable in the touch and radaring of teamatesn stakes.

Saw him play once in a mini tournament. Thin as feck, but the vision of Nostradamus.

what are you on banging on about this? for one he wasnt booked before he took his shirt of so if he was booked it was then and if he was he still wouldnt have been suspended so you are out of your head.

Anyway, Iniesta is a gem. Still 24 and i havent seen a performance as good as that in a final in eh... well i cant remember, he was fantastic.

Since Zidane won it 1-0 for Real Madrid.

Anyway, Iniesta wasn't booked for taking his shirt off and he got another yellow in that game.

i have no recollection of him being booked prior to taking off his shirt, actually i think you're making it up as an excuse.

after a quick bit of research it can be put to bed Cal?, you can now get over it

90+3 (1 - 1) Iniesta (Barcelona) scores!
Unbelievable! Lionel Messi tees up Andrés Iniesta on the edge of the area, the midfielder strikes across the ball and Chelsea can only watch heartbroken as it arcs into the top corner. It's their first shot on goal in the entire contest. action
90+4 Iniesta (Barcelona) is shown a yellow card.

It depends. When you play in central midfield mostly, all that matters is your general play.

When you play as a winger, its at least as important to make sure you create goals for others and yourself.

Iniesta plays both roles.

Either way, he's just not as productive a player as Messi.

I thought he was booked for a tackle as Chelsea chased the game?

an exact minute after scoring? unless you go and get a tape and watch a re-run you'll never know.

The fact it was a min after he scored, which is probably the time it took them to finish celebrating leads me to believe it was for taking his shirt off. However i think you should find that out and then complain to UEFA about it if indeed it was for a foul.

Can't be bothered, Barcelona shouldn't even be there in the first place.

Whatever happened to Pablo Aimar?

Benfica. Lost his form completely at Valencia after a bad series of injuries and didnt get back to form at Zaragoza.

Latest I heard is Atletico Madrid are after him... I'm not sure how he's doing in Benfica.

Really thought he was the real deal at one point, but he totally lost his way

It's easy to not be as productive because he rarelly finishes a single match playing in the same position.A scoring or making assists will always be more valuable than anything else but I still believe that Iniesta is technically better than Messi

De Rossi similar to Iniesta not so sure, both great players but not to similar.

He is slightly more defensive and less of a quality passer. Yet I would fancy the challenge between the two.

He's pretty much a less productive Messi. But he's more adaptable, can play more roles.

That's a fairly accurate description. He's a really special player, and I'd be pretty surprised if he didn't end up somewhere near Zidane's level.

He took our midfield apart last night and didn't even break sweat. Hard not to admire him really. His haircut was shit mind, but unfortunately it was about the only thing about him that was shit. Agree with Bynni though, shame our midfield didn't bother to turn up. Maybe last night wasn't the best night to measure the talent of Iniesta, after all I vaguely remember Yaya Toure getting so bored of not seeing any action at centre back he decided to take the ball for a jog through about 8 of our players at some point during the second half.

Alright Smashed! good to see you back!

Alright pal, well I'm not really 'back' so much. Just thought I would log on today to see what everyone was saying about last nights result. It's much better to wallow in depression when you're surrounded by folk doing the same, no fun when you're wallowing on your own...

Iniesta and Xavi were the highlight of Barcelona last night...Messi is getting alot of the press because of this so-called competition with Ronaldo over the "best player", but Iniesta and Xavi were the real show to watch. They simply do not lose the ball - ever.

Superb player, he was taking the piss at times yesterday. Deceptively quick, just glided past some of your midfield players.

He has really finished this season strongly, thought Xavi had been better in the first half of the season but last few months this guy has been in a class of his own.

25 actually ;)

Really? I thought he was a few years younger than that. Well that's good news. At least he will only be around for another 8-9 years and not 11-12 like I originally thought...

Good to see ya smashed!

Iniesta looked brilliant last night. I cant remember the last time we played against someone who had me shitting myself each time he got the ball...
