With Cunha and Mount likely out due to injuries sustained against Burnley, how do you think we will lineup against City?

I came across this on Twitter and thought it made a lot of sense.

Thoughts?

Have we had any updates to suggest they're both most likely out? Cunha's injury initially sounded minor, and Mount's withdrawal precautionary.

Shaw LWB is something that should be awesome, but valid concerns remain about his fitness and if he can still handle the role

Sincerely hopes he starts Lammens and Sesko.

The only place where I disagree is with Shaw at LWB (down to stamina / fitness).

Think he’s been good at LCB and Yoro has been great at RCB and both have pace. Also a left footed LCB is really effective in my opinion.

I know Dalot isn’t ideal but he’ll probably start at LWB.

Edit: If Dalot is injured then Dorgu at LWB. Someone who atleast has the stamina to go up and down the whole game.

The way its sounding in the various reports, its likely Cunha will miss the City game and Mount's injury is shrouded in a bit of mystery. No official reports yet.

I'd be very surprised if Mainoo starts, and if Shaw plays LWB.

More like:

GK
Yoro - De Ligt - Shaw
Amad/Mazraoui - Casemiro - Bruno - Dorgu
Mbeumo - Mount
Sesko
Alternatively Ugarte in for Mount with Bruno at #10.

Do we have other injuries?

Prefer him there to Dorgu. Much more experience and a better balance of defend and attack.

Dorgu is still a work in progress who shouldn't have been thrown straight into the fire immediately, and likely wouldn't have been if not for Shaw's injury.

Zirkzee for Mainoo. Bruno in midfield.

Mount is also injured
Now I've heard everything!

Could even be Amad at #10 with Mazraoui at RWB, although I suspect Mbeumo with Amad wouldn't really work. Then I'm leaning towards the Casemiro/Ugarte midfield and Bruno Mbeumo at #10's (as the most likely, not necessarily preferred).

Solid lineup - wouldn't mind that. Unless Cunha's fit - I think I'd play something similar by bringing Mainoo in and moving Bruno to the 10 (instead of Bruno at CM with Mount at 10).

I hope Sesko starts.

edit: just don't see Lammens starting just yet but would be happy if he did.

Shaw at LWB would be a surprise and not something I’d imagine happening. I would think Amorim would want the most energy possible when playing City.

They were absolutely dreadful against Grimsby but I’d consider Ugarte and Mainoo in the midfield. They were terrific at Anfield last year and both have something to prove. Push Bruno to the 10 role.

The bolded bit is something of a worry, given the guy's injury history.

Yes that’s about the strongest lineup. Bring Mainoo on 2nd half for Casemiro if we are behind

Has anyone watched City this season (I have not) but I have seen a lot of noise about Pep going very counter heavy this season? Seems like it might be a weird game where we get loads of the ball.

So besides providing an assist which helped us eventually secure 3 points, he didn't really do much. Sounds like he will be in contention to play then.

His defending was a shambles as usual. If it wasn't for the penalty we would not have won.

Burnley's first goal would have been prevented if Dalot closed down Larsen to prevent his cross.

Burnley's second goal would have been prevented if Dalot was at the back post area marking Tchaouna and preventing him from getting his shot off.

But lets ignore his usual braindead moments where he switches off, all because he got an assist which he rarely gets anyway.

I'm thinking Zirkzee is more likely to start than Sesko. Could even be a Bruno false nine, with MBeumo and Amad behind. Hopefully Mount or Cunha will be fit enough though.

Dalots injury wouldn't change much for me. If Mazraoui is ready to start, i'd give him the nod.

They're going through the same transitional pains we are in terms of integrating new signings, getting previously injured players back to full fitness and so on.

Some of their issues

- Trafford has been hot and cold and not nearly at peak Ederson levels. Donnarumma will probably start against us, despite not having any minutes so far this year.

- Cherki, Foden, and Gvardiol are all injured

- Rodri only just returned following a 9 month injury and isn't really fully match fit yet

- Pep has been switching formations between 4-3-3 and 4-1-4-1 and is struggling to find the right balance between Marmoush and Doku on the left and Bobb and Cherki on the right (Cherki is injured now so we are likley to see Bobb who is quite slippery).

We needed all our goals to get the win, so the one Dalot assisted on with Mbeumo was part of the win.

And no, Dalot isn't to blame for their first goal. It was Yoro and De Ligt who vacated the middle of the box to leave Lyle Foster completely unmarked that alllowed the easy goal. The second goal wasn't his fault either since it was Bayandir who palmed the ball into the path of the Burnley player.

Technically, he would be brilliant but most likely broken after 45 minutes. The original line up makes a lot of sense.

Thanks. Have they been countering more though? I keep seeing Pep is ceding possession (I guess this might just be pundits not realising they're worse on the ball!)

I think Dalot will be fine. Also think Mount will be fine as that sounded like a precaution. My guess is Amorim will start:

Sesko
Mount Mbeumo
Dorgu Casemiro Bruno Dalot
Shaw De Ligt Yoro
Altay

Sesko or Zirkzee 50/50
Lammens almost definitely won't start.
He'll want some bench impact players, so Amad will be on the bench IMO (also he's generally a cautious manager so he won't go too adventurous away to them).
If no Mount, then I'd imagine Ugarte or Mainoo are 50/50 with Bruno moving up.
If no Dalot, then Amad or Mazraoui are 50/50 to start at that side I'd guess. Not convinced Dorgu will start either, Dalot is a better player so we'll see.
