It looks like a pattern now with Shaw. He starts having injury problems after every season when he plays relatively a lot and it's usually related to his leg break. It happened in 19/20, 21/22 and this season.
He was injured a hell of a lot in his first season at United. The season before he broke his leg. His injury woes seemed to start as soon as he joined us, rather than becoming a new issue after his leg break. He's only made 30+ league appearances three times in his career. Last season, 2020/21 and his final season with Southampton.

Mount, Varane and Shaw makes it three and all within the first month can’t be a coincidence right?
Not really. Especially when you look at their previous injury records. Business as usual for all three of them, unfortunately. As per my post above, ETH actually got a better than average injury record out of Shaw last season.

He's always been prone to muscular injuries, hamstrings etc.

But, he was also out a couple of years ago for 2 months with a similar unspecified injury. Which was the season after he played quite a lot, was really good and had a really good euros.

I dont recall ever having a team that is as much of a patch work quilt as this United Team.

1) Harry shouldnt be here, but due to Varane's injury.. we will probably keep him
2) Varane really needs to drop down to our 2nd/ 3rd choice as his legs and body cant allow him to play 2 games a week
3) Shaw and Malacia are both injured making us hunt for a LB??? All because of Champions League Football
4) McTominay, Fred and Donny all need/ needed to move so we can get better talent in the midfield.
5) Goalkeeping during the Africa cup of Nations could come back to haunt us
6) Saudia Arabia is paying premium for every team's top notch talent, or at least the name in hopes they live up to the form promised
7) Greenwood situation just really put us in a shitty spot
8) We finally got a striker that is hurt, but young... so while thin up front, it seems to be our only real addition during the summer.
9) Mount? Sancho? Pellistri? Any plans for these guys??

Just seems like we have no idea what the hell we are doing, unless ETH realized with the sale and our shitty budget, we may only be playing for top 10 in premier league and instead putting all our eggs into the UCL basket.

Bring on the January transfer window please!!!!

It's a decent list, but a bit over exaggerated as per usual.

Mount is easily covered with Eriksen.

Amad and Mainoo are kids and won't play much this season.

Martial is nothing new, he is constantly injured.

Malacia is a squad player.

Højlund is unknown.

So its basically Varane and Shaw who are injured and will be missed. So Lindelof/Maguire/Evans/Dalot will have to cover for them.
Good point.
Pretty much anything that happens at OT becomes massively overblown. Because anything associated with United sells papers or is an important media story.

Football players pick up injuries.
And the current injuries don't seem to be the same type.
But what concerns me is why United seem to sign a number of players who then have a spate of injuries not that long after.

This is why we clearly needed to buy two strikers. Martial is unreliable and Rasmus is a kid and unproven.

well it all depends on the medical team in the club they have to decide who can perform on the long run and who doesn't they also have to make solutions for players with week history with injuries

Feels like the gods have a personal vendetta against our defence.

Across football as a whole is there any indication of a higher rate of injuries this season, perhaps as an outcome of last season's fixture congestion? Or are we particularly vulnerable having played the most fixtures in 2022/23 coupled with limited rotation?

ETH wanted a quality right centre back for a reason, but unfortunately the Glazers, Murtough and Arnold had other ideas.

Would have liked to have either Pavard or Todibo ahead of Lindelof, McGuire and the rest.

Didn't we have some Dr from Arsenal join us who also went through a shit-tonne of injuries under him?

We had 8 injuries going into today's game and picked up another 2 in Lindelof/Martinez.

It's just ridiculous.

This is so bizarre. He was ill so had to come off...after playing 85 mins? Surely he could have lasted the last 10ish mins?
What if he shat himself on the pitch? Quite apart from anything Maguire could have sued for trademark infringement.

He went off patting his chest I thought. Didn't he have a heart issue not so long ago

Lindelof - ill
Mount - muscle
Varane - muscle
Shaw - muscle
Malacia - knee?
Martinez - foot/knock
McTominay - ill
Heaton - calf
Amad - knee
Mainoo - ankle

Apparently Martinez is still going away with Argentina so hopefully that one is fine. Would expect Lindelof and McTominay to be fine for Brighton too.

It is a crisis, what makes it worse is we will face Arsenal, Brighton and Bayern in those squad conditions. So basically that puts us already in really bad position in the start of the season.

Here in lies the problem and hits the nail on the head, how can Fernandes be ready to play and does play every preseason game (well most preseason games) and be available for all league matches so far yet we have injuries all round. he’s made of steal and I fear our H&C dept are not up to scratch
