Feels like there should've been at least 3 or 4 more goals in this France Portugal game. Kante and Kimpembe have been superb
Kimpembe is one of the most underrated CB in the world because he screwed up a couple of times in big CL games but he has been amazing for the past year.

Disappointing this, we did enough for a draw and take it to the last game at least but France are definitely the best team in the world so can't complain.

It might be a good thing in order to lower expectations for the Euros.

We should break the bank for Coman.
Scoring goals though. Which is the point.
The point is to score enough to win a game. No point in missing good chances against Chelsea and Arsenal just to score 3 against RB Leipzig. He needs to find consistency because a good finisher he is not. Just as Martial today.

I'm not sure your middfield has much of a future, Sanches/Moutinho might replace Danilo or Carvalho pretty soon. They're just not enough/too slow to build offenses when your team is under pressure.

Deserved win for France.
We hurt ourselves by starting very defensive. Only when France scored our manager decided it was time to attack, and in that moment we started to pressure France and took control of the game.
Unfortunately this won't be the last time we'll play with Danilo and William Carvalho both at the same time. When Moutinho came on it was night and day.

No team in particular

France should have won by at least 2 goals IMO
Portugal should be playing much better with all those talents.

Wow, if Germany more draw against Spain in the last match they'll go intuit the playoffs

Interesting to see what happens since both sides aren't particularly good. Really puts into perspective how costly that last second goal was by Spain against Germany in the first match. Had Germany defended that they would've been confirmed toppers of the group.

Dejan Kulusevski is actually developing into a very good attacking player. One of the best players on the pitch against Croatia imo.

Did he have a good chance against Arsenal? Don’t remember it at all. But yes, both need to contribute in tight games.

Agreed. He’s only 20 and already looks so mature in the way he plays. The future looks Bright if he keeps develop like this.

Ronaldo and Portugal were shocking tonight. Only lost 1-0 but France were barely troubled all game.
What game did you guys watch?

We did play alright, with Pepe out we were always going to give them chances given we have no good replacement but offensively we created a lot more chances than I'd have expected against France. There's no other national team that won't be second best against this french team when they're playing like they did today.

Renato was out and Moutinho can't play like that for 90 minutes anymore. I think Danilo and William together in the big games is definitely the way to go tbh.

We could do with Renato having a great season though, if he improves and manages to start then he'll be a better fit in midfield.

Watched Portugal v France, and Scotland would beat them both comfortably. Would be as well as crowning them winners of Euro2020 already.

Depends on how the opponents plays. Against us with a lot of players putting pressure on your defenders and your defensive midfielders, you were barely able to get the ball to your attackers in the 1st half. Felix and Ronaldo were transparent.

I am just a bit annoyed that I needed Ronaldo to have 2 shots on target all game to win £90 and he failed to do so haha!

We are always going to lose the midfield battle against a team like France no matter who we play. Danilo, William, Moutinho and Renato are all good players but they’re not Pogba, Kante or Rabiot. They’re simply not as good.

We don’t have any world class players to play in those two spots in holding midfield. If we play Moutinho instead of William then he’d only have lasted 60 minutes and we’d have one less tall players for set pieces where France are very strong with all their giants.

Ronaldo, Felix, Jota and Bernardo will have less chances to shine when we play Danilo and William together but they don’t need much to make a goal happen so I’m fine with making it harder for them if it means we’re more solid, at least in these sort of games.

How come Isak never seems to start for Sweden, benched again for Marcus Berg. :annoyed:

One thing that puzzles me with Sweden - they always look like a retirement home. Ok now they have Kulusevski who is a talent - but:

Robin Olsen only 30, Mikael Lustig almost 34, Pontus Jansson almost 30 - his replacement today Marcus Danielsson 31, Pierre Bengtsson 32, Sebastian Larsson 35, Albin Ekdal 31, Emil Forsberg 29, Marcus Berg 34

Subs: Gustav Svensson 33, Martin Olsson 32, Victor Claesson almost 29, Karl J Johnsson almost 31

And then they have some "young" players - 26-27 years old.

I think there's a couple of good reasons for relatively aging national teams, not just Sweden:

1. They know the system/formation/each other. Very useful when you only have a couple of days here and there to prepare.
2. The pace of international football is - ususally - a bit slower than your typical top 5 league/champions league matches, which means that even aging legs are somewhat able to do a decent job.

To my mind, Sweden has always been like that, which is probably why the usually end up qualifying for tournaments. Experience and knowhow is important.
