Is Daniel James set to become our best signing since RVP?

He’s performed a lot better than expected, I’d wager his numbers would be better if we could have kept a fully fit squad from the beginning of the season. I don’t see him becoming a world beater mind.

Agree and we dont need 11 world beaters, we need a squad of very good, commitres, hungry players with thrre or four experienced world beaters

I don't see what's delusional about speculating if a player who many consider a breath of fresh air, is getting the fans off their seats with electric pace as well is improving his overall game, could become our most vital signing since we signed RVP. He may not get close to that status, but it's not like we're talking about an 18 year old prospect like Januzai was. James could literally reach his peak in three years and I'm very excited to see where he is at that point.
It's too early to even entertain this IMHO, we're just in October

If he continues to progress, he will be up there as the best. I hope he keeps he’s head down and follow he’s dreams, oh and keep away from JlingZ.....

Our best signings since Fergie have been Martial, AWB, James and Maguire.

This is a large part of why we need to give Ole time and money.

What's Ole got to do with those signings? They're more Woodward signings than Ole, aren't they? No idea how many times it needs to be said. Maguire interest, we all know its been ages, the trigger should have been pulled last summer. AWB was obvious, and Giggs recommended James supposedly.

We will see, the answer really won't come unless/until we become successful and whether he is a main factor in this. The rest of it, he works hard, I like him because he seems down to earth etc is moot.

Of course AWB, James and Maguire are Ole`s (and Phelan`s) signings.

Why would Ole say he do not want to sign players for the sake of it if he didint have a list of players he would want to sign for the team.

You can say it until you're blue in the face. You'll still be wrong.

Managers get 100s of players recommended to them. The challenge is picking the right ones. The previous managers have failed horribly in that regard. Now stop this bullshit.

People recommend many things to managers. I’m guessing most signings are recommended to a manager.

In the end, it’s the manager’s call to go forward with signing the player or not. In this instance, you have to give Ole a little credit for listening to giggs.

It’s just part of the anti-Ole narrative.

Everything that goes wrong is his fault yet by the same token we are not allowed to attribute anything positive to him.

And those signings are very different from the ones we made before Ole came. They're basically the type of players SAF would have signed.

Pretty sure Woodward wouldn't sign a player like James or know the first thing about how to do so. They're not his type of signings.

Woodward says he doesn't make football decisions, he has no signings.

Yeah he’s totally good.

It's like Depay but without all the bad clothes and actual end product.

There does seem to be a strange sub-set of supporters who just cannot see beyond their own dislike of the Ole appointment and want to discredit him any chance they can.

Great signing from OGS, reminiscent in every way of SAF picking up Lee Sharpe from Torquay many years back.

I find it strange that you can be working in Man Utd and not have a clue on the kind of signings Man Utd used to make and have success with.

Executives eh?

James a Woodward signing? Even AWB? Only Pogba, and potentially Maguire are somewhat from Ed, and even then, I am not sure. Even if Giggs recommend a signing, it's up to Ole to take it into account.

Indeed. All three signings are well suited to the team and not "galactico" names like it has been tried to sign in the past with little luck.

The guy is certainly very useful and currently one of my favourites simply because of his effort and energy. He’s a real threat with his pace and desire to carry the ball up the pitch at any opportunity.

what’s nice though is for once it feels like we have a bargain.

Are you having a laugh?

Do you honestly think Ole had nothing to do with any of the signings and has no contribution to how the club move forward?

I can count on 1 hand the number of quality signings we have made since RVP/Post-Ferguson, so it won't be too hard for James to come into that equation.

Saying that, it's still early days but if he keeps on developing the way he is then Dan James can become one heck of a player.

Can’t win can he , if they do well they’re not his signings if they fail he carries the can !
For gods sake give the man a bit of credit

Was a little bit frustrating yesterday. Makes great runs and looks really dangerous on the ball. But his dribblings, final balls or shots let him down. But I hope and think he can work on that. If his decision making is getting better we really have made a steal there last summer.

He is now firmly a part of the “massive drop in quality” group with Mata and Lingard. Desperately need another couple of quality options for next season.

This thread should be a lesson for football fans not to be so fickle. Everyone has good patches of form, its whether they can keep it. Maybe his rare patch of his form was at the beginning of the season (good), or maybe at the backend of the season (bad).
