I think it's becoming really obvious that he has fallen off cliff and he has been really going under the radar.

Said a lot when Slot hooked him just after the Maguire goal.

He got his massive new contract and downed tools.

We've seen it for ourselves many times recently and it's nice it's Liverpool for a change.

I’m getting Alexis Sanchez vibes from him. Makes a nice change for it not to be our problem tbh!

His form has dropped since March.

It's also obvious Slot is trying to find a way for the team to play without everything going through him (like first half of last season). It hasn't clicked and Isak/Wirtz are making things difficult.

Certainly looks past his best so far this season.

But there's a big gap between past your best and finished, and it doesn't help when the rest of the team isn't playing particularly well.

I'm sure he'll still be plenty productive across the season. But at 33 years old you can't expect him to keep playing at his peak level.

Yes and while it is great on paper to have players like Isak, Ekiteke, Wirtz coming in, sometimes it’s a case of too many cooks.

Maybe but swear we had this thread before and he went on to have one of the best seasons in PL history.

I said, wrongly, that he was washed up last season. It's happening this season instead. Noticeably finished.

That was more optimism. Feels like 10-13 games in now, we have a bit of evidence to back that hope up.

One thing is that especially delicious is them having to deal with a player not being unbelievably good for a change.

Hope so. On mega wages until the end of next season so he'll really hamstring them if he doesn't turn it around.

Was always a gamble for them to sign him up until he turns 35.

He isn't finished. They probably can't expected him to bail them out every game though. They guy was/is a genuine world class player and Liverpool have relied on him a lot. Last season's title wouldn't happen without him. He is past his peak at this point, but Liverpool aren't playing well as a team either at the moment. I'm sure once their new players settle a bit more, Salah's form will also have an uptick again. Liverpool's defence is a much bigger problem for them.

Looks like it. Only looks good against Atletico and its not exactly 90 minutes like during his prime. Trying to keep him in the starting XI forcing the new expensive signings to change their game, and further complicating their adapting period to new league, new team.

Yep. Just signed a massive new contract along with 'captain fantastic'. Brilliant

Too early to tell. If he was a few years younger we’d be saying he’s in poor form.

He's definitely heading there. Not that I'm complaining, mind.

People are so reactionary these days. I'm not even trying to defend Salah but to call him finished after 8 games is insane. For example, CR7 didn't even score until his 9th game in 07/08 and Utd had 1 point in their first three games.

Imagine the reaction if that happened today. Maybe he's going to be a complete disaster this season, but it's still too early to tell.

Pretty off the pace so far this season. It's always dangerous to give a 33 year old a big money contract as these declines can happen. That being said it could still be form and I wouldn't write him off just yet.

How long is his contract

He'll still score goals but its obvious he cant be relied on as much in his current form as he was last season.

No, but he’s no spring chicken and Liverpool were extremely reliant on him last season. That’s why all this talk of them becoming the dominant force in the Summer seems off it, because Salah/VVD are towards the of the end of their journey at Pool and they’re irreplaceable.

Well they've certainly had their moneys worth from him.

Now they'll just have to suck it up and tolerate an overpaid and declining player.

Looks way off it at moment and was a shadow of himself. Salah of 2 years ago would have scored 1 maybe 2 today.

I’d also be questioning Virgil if I was a scouser too.

Might have been wrong, but thought I heard the commentators mention that he's got four non-penalty goals in his last 24 games for Liverpool?!

Doesn't he usually have a dip after signing a new contract? By my reckoning this is the 2nd or 3rd time it had happened.

He's saving himself for the African Nations and the World Cup.

That’s appalling if true …seem to remember he got a shit load of pens last season

His stats may look impressive, but he didn’t play that well in this supposed best seasons in the PL history. He relied on stat padding 9 penalty goals (his personal record). Else he’s right in the mix with Cunha scoring 19 goals without a penalty.

You can’t be real. You’re comparing a young player with a lit of development to do (even when he had already been among world best player level), to a player in his thirties. Ronaldo scored in his first goal of the season in the fifth game (against Sporting Lisbon in CL), and scored his first PL goal of the season in the fifth PL game. Why did you count the game where he got suspended?

And scoring is not everything. Ronaldo was the spark of the team during his teen and twenties. Salah has been carried by the team, so he can score goals. Liverpool now bought quite a proven PL goal scorer and a very good prospect in Ekitike. They may be able to do without Salah because outside of goals, Salah hasn’t been that good stretching back to last season and beyond.

Reminds me a bit of Ronaldo's comeback season for us. Great finishing skills will obviously give you goals, but overall gameplay will hamper the team.
