Is Salah Finished? | Leaving at the end of the season... so yes.

Let’s be honest here, if you’re picking an all time prem XI and it’s a 433 formation, Salah takes the RW spot with relative ease.

Schmeichel
Neville
Ferdinand
Vidic
A cole

Keane
Scholes
De Bruyne

Salah
Henry
Ronaldo

For me, in all time prem XI, the RW should always be Ronaldo considering how many great CFs are there.

Would be similar of Casemiro’s contract wasn’t naturally running out. Salah still has another year to run so highly likely there will be some financial compensation given he’s getting over £20m per year.

Anyway it’s a disaster for Liverpool and a costly one at that.
Let’s be honest, last season many fans wanted the club to release Casemiro on a free

Ronaldo spent the vast VAST majority of his PL spell at RW so it’s not ”with ease” for me.

For LW surely Bale has to be in with a shout? And if picking a 4-3-3 there’s every chance you stick Henry at LW and that pits Salah against some great great centre forwards.

For me the most frightening team to face would be a front 3 of:

Henry
Bale……………..Ronaldo

But each to their own.

Is nobody willing to fight Giggs' corner anymore? He would have been a certainty to make a combined 11 before he retired.

I put Bales season with spurs as the best i've ever seen in the PL in terms of pure enjoyment, and i would say suarez had one season that his level of consistency outshone anything other CF did, but Salahs numbers speak for themself against his RW competitors. https://www.statmuse.com/fc/ask?q=who+has+the+most+goal+contributions+in+premier+league+all-time

At LM he's a no brainer.
10 years ago absolutely, but you have a younger generation that never saw him play or if they did they only caught his last few years where he operated in the middle. I hate to say this, but the amount of young people that go off fifa ratings and highlight reels is staggering.

Paying all that money for the likes of Isak, Wirtz, Frimpong etc. and Salah and Trent leaving for free is fecked up. Especially Salah who they gave a bumper deal to and he still goes for nothing.

They are sound lad, coutinho money

It seems like the error was giving Salah the deal in the first place; they should have let him leave for free last year. And I think deep down Liverpool's board knew it was a mistake, but his first half to last season was so good, that they had to bite the bullet and give him the new deal. He's been nothing but a burden on them this season, on and off the pitch, it definitely looks the right call to get rid of him now. Same with Van Dijk, they should have replaced him with Guehi last summer.

Regarding giving salah his last contract, it seems a damned if they didnt, damned if they did imo. He could have been like Ronaldo or modric playing at a high level into their mid to late 30s, maybe. Then again pace is a bit part of salahs game which goes as you get older.

Obviously I have a dog in this fight but putting Ronaldo ahead of Salah as RWF in an all-time prem XI is akin to me putting Suarez ahead of Henry due to the unreal level he played at while we had him. Longevity and consistency have to factor in.

Bit different given Ronaldo won more than Salah and was also crowned Ballon d’or. He also returned at 38 and was still producing.

Suarez simply had one exceptional season.

I take your point, I was using the Suarez example to illustrate my point. As good as Ronaldo was, I still feel Salah outperforms him across the time he's spent with us but each to their own. I'd have both of them in my team, if I was picking.

It’s tricky as if you include longevity then Giggs and Scholes must be included within any team too. They may be in yours for the same reasons.

The MNF clip above explains in detail.

Yeah they won't get a fee for him but they will free up a massive amount in their wage budget so save money that way.

Kane or Suarez flanked by Henry and Ronaldo for me. You need a striker with his hold up play and being able to link to the midfield and drop deep.

Annoyingly fantastic footballer in his prime. Reminiscent of Maradona single-handedly propelling Napoli in his prime, gutted they ain’t keeping him though as he’s pretty bobbins these days
Not really. Van Dijk was at least as important overall and so were, during shorter spells, Mané & Alisson.

Yeah no stats are going to convince me to put Salah in at RW ahead of 2006-2009 Ronaldo though.

I’m not at all convinced he’d make my best ever PL 11. Shearer, Kane, Bale, Henry, Ronaldo, Suarez.
He’s in the mix, but not “with ease”.

One of the PL greats and, poor though he's been this season, I'll be pleased not to see him lining up against us any more. Hopefully they botch replacing him.

The full backs too.

Part of the reason Salah has struggled this season is that he no longer has TAA behind him pinging 80 yard passes through.

The first eleven that Klopp built in 18/19 - 19/20 had almost no weakness's. Even unfashionable midfielders like Milner, Henderson and Fabinho were crucial because they allowed the full backs to push high up the pitch.

If they try and replace Mo Salah with a teenager that's scored 10 goals in Germany then that would be another stupid transfer move!

I'm more worried they get Olise from Bayern.
Even when they bought Salah, he wasn't the Salah he became. Diomande is clearly a hot property.

Yes because they signed Salah at the right time. He had already flopped in the Premier League at Chelsea but rebuilt his career in Italy by the time Liverpool signed him.

Diomande has less experience that Ekitike or Wirtz in Germany who were also hot property.

Timing is key to transfers. Look at the age they signed Salah and Mane, same with us for Cuhna and Mbeumo. Do you honestly think a nineteen year old with less than 40 league games under his belt is going to be producing Salah like numbers any time soon?

Olise would cost over the fee they paid for Wirtz and that’s if Bayern decided to sell (why would they?)

Pipe dream.

They've shown that they will pay big fees if required. If they are moving Salah on, I'd expect them to have a decent replacement in mind. They've only got Gakpo and that step over kid as their wide options for next season.

I’m sure they’d love Olise but when was the last time Bayern sold a top player in their peak? It would need Liverpool to break a world transfer record for them to even consider it. I’d also suggest if they were open to selling there would be strong competition from a host of big clubs.

No, but then that was never my point.

Diomande to replace Salah's output this season would probably be an upgrade, in any case. Diomande is one of the best prospects and would probably be an excellent pick up for Liverpool, and soften the blow of Salah departing.

I feel strangely sad to see Salah leave. It feels like he's the final great legend of this Premier League era. With Kane, Son, and De Bruyne already gone, his departure really feels like the end of the line for that golden era of Premier League. I genuinely worry that we're losing the league's last true, marketable superstar.

When I think of Ronaldo I think of La Liga.
When I think of Salah I think of PL.

So Salah is one of the best of all time PL player but not better than Ronaldo as a footballer obviously.

De Bruyne is more of a PL legend than I say Modric who is see more as a La Liga Legend. I kind of feel the same about Bale and I think his performance against Inter Milan for Tottenham make his PL impression stronger than it really was. I still regard Bale as a La Liga player at his best, he gave his best to Real Madrid even if I felt they misused him. Kane is a PL legend more than a Bundesliga legend.

Basically giving their best years to a league.

Don't worry we still have Bruno Fernandes.

I'm glad we can put rivalries aside and appreciate great players of the sport. Absolute legend player. I'd say maybe better or in line with Robben to me personally. Salah had a bit more to his game than Robben to my eyes.

Oh well.
