Is Salah Finished? | Trabzonspor player... yes you read it right

I still think they’ll get a hefty fee for him. Hopefully Liverpool will piss that money up the wall as well, like they did with the Isak and Wirtz deals.

Glad to see that they didnt get money from the Saudi's. I think the current war will mean very little activity from them this Summer - so I fully expect Bruno to stay with us.

Question is what are Liverpool's plan for the Summer? What do they need now?

Being reported that he's going for free. Getting his new massive contract off the books is probably as much of a win as Liverpool could get out of the situation given how poor he's been this year.

Still somewhat surprised they haven't quite been jammy enough to get a massive fee from Saudi on top, though.

They probably need to sign a proper holder to do the job Gravenberch did reliably

Szobozlai, MacAllister, Wirtz, Ekitike and Isak is an elite 5

A new manager, to start with.

LB, RB, VVD replacement, CM, RW imo.

I don't think they can do it. I have a feeling that Klopp had a big say in transfers, I don't think they'll get a good hit rate personally.

Ekitike is the only bit of smart business they did last summer.

Klopp famously didn't fancy Salah initially, or Mane!
Luckily for Liverpool their transfer committee overuled him!

I wish that was true because this thread would not exist.

Potentially, but not actually in practice yet. The signs from Wirtz that he is elite in the Premier League are fleeting. Isak before the injury didn't seem to fit in the same team as Ekitike. Mac Allister's form fell off a cliff this season. Ekitike looks quality but far from a sure thing yet. They have some talented pieces, much like we did when we could shout about Greenwood, Martial, Rashford, Sancho, and Pogba, but there's a big jump to saying they are elite. At the moment, of course.

@Alemar I am talking about them as a group, not as individuals. Neither of them are elite groups of players even if one or two of the individual components are elite themselves.

Edit because I am out of posts for the day: Is Salah leaving because he knows Slot is staying another season, I wonder? I'd have thought he might wait and see who the new man will be before deciding to leave.

Klopp infamously wanted Brandt instead of Salah, but was overruled by the transfer committee.

Best case scenario was them lumbered with his 400k a week and circus over them another year.
But free transfer is pretty good.

Most feared a ludicrous fee to Saudi.

Saudi have reigned in their spending somewhat.

But Salah would be the biggest star out there given his background.

Going to think twice about it now though…

It’s worked out pretty well. He’s stunk up the place this season, caused disruption, cost a lot and 12 months on from them turning down a big offer, he’s on a free.

We’ve yet to replace him

He was replaced, as were Ince, Hughes, Cantona, Beckham, Keane etc. That's where SAF was excellent, he knew when a player regardless of how good they were had to move on for the benefit of the team and the club. Keane was in that bracket and the change of style with Carrick coming in and moving to a more fluid 433 led to the most successful period he had across all comps.

Salah is replaceable, unlikely a player will hit the same heights, the time for him to move on was at the end of last season when they could have still got a big money sale to Saudi.

He is a world champion, has scored in the final. Not many could boast the same, even though injuries completely ruined him pretty quickly

They need a Konate replacement as well

Some player for them. But was an awful decision to extend his contract last year. He cashed in and hasn’t done a stroke since February last year.

Was going to say the same thing.

They signed a kid for a lot of money from France, got Leoni coming back from an ACL, Konate out of contract, Van Dijk and Robertson ageing out, Bradley perma-crocked and a teeny-tiny wingback for their defence. Plus Alisson is creaking physically too. Their rearguard needs a hell of a lot of attention. Long may it continue!

I disagree.

This feels a bit like saying in 2019 that Lukaku, Sanchez and Martial is an elite front 3 for United. If you go off their form from 18 months prior (where some of them were tearing it up at different clubs), then yes, it's elite. But if you look at this season's evidence, MacAllister has fallen off massively, Wirtz in the PL looks no better than Kagawa did, and Isak looks a shadow of the player we saw at Newcastle, plus who knows how he'll look when he returns from a serious injury.

Out of all their midfield 3 and front 3 options, Szoboszlai and Ekitike are the only ones they can hang on their hat on. And the latter will have to make room for the 130m elephant in the room once he returns from injury.

Watching his decline this season, Liv know they wouldnt have got a decent fee as none of the top clubs in the top 3 leagues would have the budget to cover his fee and salary.

But of course Saudi clubs will come and take him off their books where otherwise he would have seen off his second year on huge wages!

End of last season he was going to be a free agent. That's why he signed this crazy contract.

You could see it by the end of last season, but Liverpool were playing better and he could still get a goal or assist.

He is past it. Time for Liverpool to move on.

Most Liverpool fans I talk to absolutely slate MacAllisters performances.

And I’m not a fan of Wirtz at all.

Szlobolobai has had an ok season (couple of free kicks stand out) and been played at FB a few times.

Ekitike has had an ok first season and their top scorer with 11.

Isak, well…

He earned it after his heroics from last season.
His handling of the press, smelled of a final payday. Didn’t care since - he felt the club fecked him so he fecked Liverpool.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but him not lifting a finger since shows he actually didn’t deserve it.

Good news, biggest concern was Liverpool offloading him to Saudi for an insane fee.

Put the mortgage on him getting one final goal at Old Trafford. I just read on Twitter he's the eight-highest Premier League goalscorer in Old Trafford for the 2020s, including Man Utd players. Good riddance.

Not sure of the stats, i could be wrong but Salah really started scoring goals against United only since 2020 and then seems to have gone on a crazy run scoring for fun since then.
Still remember the Rashford double at OT back in 2018 when he skinned Trent for both the goals and the roar when Salah tried a shot and went to the stands.
Feck off Salah.

I f***ing hate Liverpool, but even I’ll say that’s way off. He’s been quality this season and they’d have been screwed without him. Easily their POTY. Only really him, Alisson and Ekitike that shouldn’t be hanging their heads in shame.

Annoyingly fantastic footballer in his prime. Reminiscent of Maradona single-handedly propelling Napoli in his prime, gutted they ain’t keeping him though as he’s pretty bobbins these days
