Maybe this means we have moved away from Maguire?

If we could include Jones in the deal that would be an extra plus. Wishful thinking.

Diop is developing into a good CB. Pace, good reading of the game and composed on the ball. He caught my eye last season particularly v United and Spurs. Only 22 years old.

He was a weapon at Toulouse and was captain if I remember correctly but they did have a really young team.
Haven’t seen much of him at West Ham except for a game against us where he was decent. Doubt West Ham would sell him for anything other than a ridiculous fee.

Didnt Jose compliment him last season, whilst also criticising our scouts at the same time.

Pretty good out and out young defender. But anyone who wants a ball playing CB its not him.

Makes less passes than our 3 main CBs and the same rate of key passes as Smalling (less than Lindelof and Jones)

If we had bought Diop last summer Jose most likely wouldn’t have played him for the first 3 months.

He did indeed, this is what he said after the West Ham game.

"Congratulations to the scout who found the 21-year-old kid, Diop. He was a monster and dominated every single duel.

Remember that Declan Rice won the players player of the year for West Ham. Fabianski won the fan voted one

Would much prefer this to Maguire, however I'd like to see us picking these guys up before they make the first big move, I feel like we shoot ourselves in the foot buying this way every year.

Hire a team of crack FM experts I say, wonderkids unite.

Saw him a bit last season and liked what I saw. I'm all for this signing, but I still think we need 2 CBs so, if he'd be our only CB signing, I'd be less for it as first and foremost we need someone proven and ready now; not more potential.

Under a tree.
Yes please. He will add much needed speed, aggression and bossing the opposition, to our defence

If Jones is the player, it will be the cherry on top

There are still players like that out there, Milenkovic and Upamecano for example.

I'd imagine the player being offered is Rojo, and I doubt West Ham would have any interest in him

The only thing I know about Diop is that a guy I work with who's a huge West Ham fan absolutely raves about him, and classes him as one of the top 3 CB's in the Premier League. I'll be winding him up on Monday.

He played 8 percent of the passes at West Ham, on average. Same as Smalling, basically. Less than Jones. At the same time, the defenders at West Ham spends less time on the ball than ours. Ogbonna and Balbuena barely played more passes on average than him (approx 10 % more). And Diop played several (most?) games on the left.

Only Rice in WH among the regular players has a higher completion rate than Diop.

Not a great ball playing CB, but certainly better on the ball than Smalling. If he can play on the left we would hopefully see more from Lindelof on the ball.

This report makes me very very happy. If we had to sign from within the PL, he’d absolutely be my #1 choice centre half. If we could get rid of Jones at the same time, even better. Quality, rock of a defender.

And looks just like A-Boogie-with-da-hoodie to top it all off.

Historically bad overall. However most recently, they broke the Alexis Sanchez interest, Dan James link plus the Sean Longstaff interest (Which I believe is most likely genuine too.) I suspect there's truth to this.

He probably isnt a ball playing centre back but those stats mean nothing.

Annoyingly they used to be very good.

Ten years ago, when Skysports broke a news story, you knew it was true.

Now you can genuinely ignore it because it’s always nothing
