Gasperini staying with Atalanta to guide them into their first ever CL appearance. He was also given assurances that they will keep their core players and look to strengthen the squad for next season.

Big news for them. If they can consistently find themselves a spot amongst the top 6 in Serie A it will be great for the league, as they are a very well run club and tend to do things the right way.

FC Internazionale Milano can confirm that Luciano Spalletti is no longer Head Coach of the First Team. The Club wishes to thank Spalletti for his work and the results achieved together. #FCIM

Have Cittadella ever played in Serie A before? 2-0 up on aggregate v Verona so looks like they're going to do it.

Cue lots of Cinderella headlines.....

Rocco Commisso (Chairman and CEO of Mediacom and New York Cosmos owner in MLS) is close to buy Fiorentina.

FFS Citta totally self-destructed second half, 3-0 down and only have 9 men.

Verona coming straight back up.

Looks like the Serie A is getting another Star this summer. I see James to reunite with Ancelotti at Napoli.

I like him but he has a tough mission there.

I can't see how Atalanta board can keep the core players promise if they start getting 40M+ offer for a player.

CL money. Though granted, they might still sacrifice someone for a stupid offer if it comes

You have no idea

Rome is nuts
Not the same knowledge as you but reading quickly their forum it looks they need to sell some players and don’t know what type of players will come.

Anyway probably they will have a squad expected to reach the fourth place I guess.

Certainly more pressure to deliver than Donetsk, let’s see what happens.

His work at Ukraine was not as easy as people paint it though. Diname Kiev won the title twice in a row before Fonseca came in. Both budgets of Dynamo and Shakthar are actually very balanced nowadays.

Very interesting appointment. Roma is always development club, find players young and old and improve them to sell quickly. Wonder if he can get more out of Justin Kluivert who's career has stalled.

Their squad seems to fit the 4x2x3x1 high defensive line Fonseca likes to deploy. If they can get a left back (Kolarov is getting aged), one energetic midfielder and one striker that actually scores goals, they can make it top 4.

Next year they will loose Dzeko (will be sold to Inter), De Rossi (contract ended) and probably Manolas (there is a clause in the contract: 36 millions) and this means that they have to substitute their three best players without the money to do it. It will be very difficult to qualify for the CL next year, considering that first three teams will be probably Juve, Napoli and Inter (first two are too good for them and Inter will probably invest much money given the fact that they have signed Conte as manager).

They sould keep De Rossi in the squad IMHO, unless he has some multimillionaire offer from China/etc. He's a player that connects well with the fans
IMHO Dzeko is far from his peak, a loss but not one they cannot cover.
Loosing Manolas by that small fee will be a big blow. He's a fantastic CB. Who the hell negotiated his contract?

More importantly, if that is his release clause why aren't United all over that?

United is going to overspend for Maguire.
Manolas is a good CB but not a fantastic one. I think that 36 millions is a fair price. And it was not a low price some years ago when they negoziated the contract. The problem is to find someone other now, because prices are much higher and top players are probably not interested in signing with Roma.

They will have to take a punt on raw talent, I guess. I do think the striker situation is much more critical, because players from those positions tend to be overvalued.

Maldini has been promoted to the role of technical director at Milan, while Boban takes over the role of chief football officer.

He's a good coach and when he has the players for it his teams play some really good stuff

Whether he has the personality for milan is another story

Have to say Italy is so good at giving mid table coaches opportunity to coach the elite sides....Di Francesco, Sarri, Gasperini, Conte, Inzaghi etc. Even Allegri was at Caglari when Milan picked him up.

Interesting it's stayed that way despite more foreign ownership at the top level of Serie A. Over here we continue to have endless debates about how good Eddie Howe is. If he was Italian he'd already been managing one of the top 5/6 there.

The other day on a interview here in Portugal Marco Silva praised Howe when they asked him about English managers.

It’s more difficult in Italy for foreign managers to get a job unless they have a strong link with Italian football. Reason why I don’t know if Fonseca at Roma will work.

Having said that you will see 3 new managers coming from the Championship, Wilder/Smith/Potter, already Dyche/Rodgers/Howe there.

It’s a unique league in Europe where you basically have somewhat the top managers from each country working there.

England is the only country open to foreign managers, even in Portugal the press here is very arrogant towards foreigners.
