3 previous years, it's about equal to Germany...Germany had an anomaly year which saw it's coefficient below 10. If it wasn't for that year, Italy would be clearly 4th.

Even then, there is a clear gap between the first level (England and Spain) and the 2nd level (Germany and Italy). Then there's the rest.

It's a good league, but not a top league. Lukaku is one of the best players in the league, not only goalscorers....says something about the league.
Exactly. It's a league full of teams at the level of the bottom half of the PL and top half of the Championship. Lukaku was dynamite against those kind of teams when he was in England too. It's a shame to see such a storied league drop so far.

Lazio defence is really really bad...a few weeks back they were 4-1 up at home to Benevento who got it back to 4-3 and same just happened v Genoa.

Don't think they'll have enough about them to finish above the teams above although they're really fun to watch.

Do Inter fans want to win the league tonight or wait until next week and do it v Juve? I can actually see Atalanta dropping points to Sassualo who are a tricky team so Juventus could get lucky and just get a drunk Inter next weekend.
Fortunately for them, they have one of the easier run ins out of the 4-5 fighting for the CL places. It will be tough for them, but Juve and Milan are hardly playing great either. They are still outsiders but I think they will keep plugging away.

Yeah, and half is not. Ignore Juventus (never mind whats happening to them this season) and you wouldn't see a single Italian team in the top half of the PL.

This is the top half of Serie A:
Inter
Atalanta
Ac Milan
Napoli
Juventus
Lazio
Roma
Sassuolo
Sampdoria
Verona.

So which of these teams do you think they are at the same level of the bottom half of the PL and the top half of the Championship?

Probably all of them, now Juventus have turned to shit this season too.

I mean, the team that's about to win the league at a canter has 4 of our rejects in it.

No Italian team got past the last 16 in the Champions League and the only Europa League team to do it just got thrashed by us.

Was thinking that myself, Juve screwed themselves over last year and Inter have taken full advantage. We saw how crap Roma were the other night and AC are able to use Zlatan to bully most teams. The rest are Everton level and lower.

Most of this Inter squad are approaching 30 and most of the rest are already over 30. Conte did what he does best, he got them organised got them bought into playing how he wants. I don't expect to see them dominate Italy like Juve have and I certainly don't expect them to be anywhere near winning the CL any time soon.

European football only shows so much about a league though, unless we are also using PSG’s relative late runs in recent years as a sign of a strong french league. In 2011/12 United and City bought got knocked out of the champions league group stages and got dumped out of the europa league very early. Does that show a weak English league that season? How about Chelsea in 6th also winning the champions league? Which says more? Or is it just the nature of cup competition.

I don’t think all that matters a ton. But anyway, the top half of the premier league will include 2 of arsenal, villa, and Leeds. If you think Juventus are the only Italian team who could finish ahead of those teams then I don’t know what to say to you.

You get outliers like Chelsea (Inter last year in the EL) but it's years since Italian teams have been consistently anywhere near the latter stages of top European competition. Juventus were the only ones but they've fallen back now. That's not a fluke or the nature of cup competitions.

I live in Milan and watch Inter nearly every week. The level in Italy has been awful this last season or two.

Atalanta would be comfortable top 6 in the prem, even top 4 as I can't see how they're any worse than Leicester with what they've shown last 2-3 years.

Roma basically Spurs level.

Congrats to Inter and their fans. It’s a great win for the league.

Really pleased for Ashley Young. He was a great servant to United even though he was frustrating at left back. He always did his best.

To choose Inter at 34 years old and be brave, and go over and get a Scudetto is a great result and well deserved.

Juventus are diabolical to watch.

Udinese got some nice players again, interested to see where Rodrigo De Paul ends up next season.

Leeds have been strongly linked with him.

Pirlo really needs to go, his football has been worse than sarri’s

With a couple buys per summer it can have a decent lifespan.

are the only numbers that count today

our nineteenth title at last, eleven years after the last one, and ten years after our last trophy.

It's all cherry picking.. Shakhtar in the last 18 months against italian teams (over 2 legs if possible):
- Atalanta v Shakhtar 4-2 (finished behind LaDea in their group)
- Inter v Shakhtar 5-0 (knocked out)
- Inter v Shakhtar 0-0 (finished ahead of Inter)
- Roma v Shakhtar 5-1 (knocked out)

And guess which result you used to prove your point? Cherry picking at its finest, but you can do the same for every league.. For example, just taking the best 6 teams in La Liga as of today:
- Real Madrid: defeated twice by "currently 13 points behind 1st in the Ukrainian league" Real Madrid are a bit shit too
- Barcelona: finished behind Juventus in the group stage.. Juventus > Barcelona
- Sevilla: easily knocked out by Borussia Dortmund, the same team that failed to beat Lazio twice in the group stage.. Lazio > Sevilla
- Atletico Madrid: overall a worse UCL campaign than Atalanta in terms of results and performances.. Atalanta > Atletico
- Real Sociedad: 2nd in their UEL group behind Napoli and, unlike AC Milan, battered by Manchester United .. Napoli and AC Milan > Real Sociedad
- Villarreal: in the UEL SF exactly like AS Roma. Villarreal = Roma (Villarreal have to face PL mid-table team while Roma's opponent is a PL contender that, as of now, still can win the league title)

La Liga is shit as much as Serie A then, or it's just cherry picking?
The only relevant stat is the UEFA country ranking that correctly show how's the situation in Europe:
English Premier League is the best league, La Liga close 2nd, then Bundesliga and Serie A that are on a similar level, very far from the top 2 but much ahead France. Nothing more, nothing less..
That is fair enough but your initial statement was trolling of the highest order :nono:

Enjoy it while it lasts.

No money and the second oldest squad in the league.

Looking forward to the customary Conte meltdown and fall out with the board. Over the above lack of money and need for new players.

In terms of what are the like of Leeds, Wolverhampton, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Southampton,Burnley, New Castle, Fulham, WBA and Sheffield United are at the same level of Inter, Milan, Juventus, Napoli, Atalanta, Lazio and Roma? Is it a performance, Position, having World Class players, history or Money? None of these PL clubs were/are in European competition this season or will be in next season, three of them will be relegated to the Championship while the Italian teams I mentioned were all in the UCL or EL and 5 of them will be in UCL or EL next season. Inter won the Scudetto and Atalanta or Juventus are one match away from winning a trophy.
How about we compare the top six of the two countries historically? Or the PL and Serie A from their existence

Most italian teams are economically in shambles

There is nothing they can do to get back to golden era, because there is no money

Ronaldo should leave tbh, other than his wages(which is an issue, i dont deny that), it seems that Italy and him was a mismatch from the start.

United's best player is a Sampdoria reject, to be fair.

Good one :lol::lol::lol:

To be fair, Lukaku should not be labeled as a reject, we sold him for a huge fee and he has become the top goalscorer for Inter & in the Seria A, and now he has become an integral part of Inter's domestic success this season .

Ashley also isn't a reject , he played for us 8-9 years and won trophies (PL, FA Cup, EL, EFL cup), he left for a new challenge.

Sanchez & Darmian are indeed rejects, they both failed with us.

Young is very much a reject. He served us well, but we let him go because he was no longer of any use to us.

Lukaku there's some argument for, but it's no coincidence he left the two top PL clubs he played for and only shone at poorer sides.

How the hell did Juve win?! What a joke.
They got plenty of luck in last 10 minutes didn't they? It was a penalty but never a free kick, Cuadrado just collapsed and handled the ball. And Ronaldo header just goes through Udinese keeper.

Manner of win though will surely give them enough momentum for final 4 games to get the wins they needed but Pirlo really hanging on by skin of his teeth.

That was harsh. We all know his has poor first touch, but he was still our top goalscorer in 17/18 with 27 goals, and this season where he shines in Italy, he also scored same amount of goals so far (27 goals), with only 4 more games left to play.
You can argue he was never given proper chance to shine in Chelsea side when he was young, but so were Salah and De Bruyne.
