Today it begins lads.

It's time to bring it home

Bring it home for all those we've lost
Bring it home to smite all those who sponge off our system
Bring it home for Queen Elizabeth II, a proper woman
Bring it home for Boris, Rishi, Pritti and Suella. Proper lads
Bring it home to shut up all the lefty environmental woke bollox
Bring it home for the people persecuted for being English
Bring it home for the kids who have to hide that their English from their parents
Bring it home for an independent Britain
Bring it home because the EU is rubbish

Good luck out there brave lions, I'll be clapping on the street for you.
What a load of cobblers!
If it has a home it’s surely Brazil where it’s been 5 times already by the way.

Don't really hear much of this chant from the public and media. I guess it will start to go viral when England beats Senegal.

THe hype isn't enough for my liking yet - I want certainty that England are going to win it, I want trumpets, I want the King on a horse. Then I want England to go out by a last minute goal in the semi's.

They did. And interestingly, English (and Scottish) people brought the game to south America. Some fun facts were recently covered by the rest of History podcast.

Saying that, one has to win to bring it home. And England are far from being the favorites to do that.
Oh, I have no expectation that England will win this tournament. I'm just goofing around.

My favorite bit of the game's history is how 'soccer' is actually British street slang from the 19th century.

When people start saying democracy isn't English you know they're getting a bit worried it's coming home.

Expect the rubbish talk to continue as are mighty lions get closer to the final

Ah yes the satire excuse . I wondered when it would appear. Trump ( remember him) claimed he was being satirical when advised bleach drinking or intense introduction of ultra Violet light via the anus to deal with Covid .

I mean it’s painfully obvious that he’s being satirical

The Greeks invented it. When Britons were still crawling around on all fours grunting at one another & living in caves they had democracy .
That’s what the Greeks would have you believe, sure.

Would be interesting to see how the media would react if England won during one the most scrutinised hostile world cup campaigns of recent times.
