Poor squad management has done for Liverpool in my view. In an intense season like this, depth was always going to be needed and they let some of their experienced back ups leave (Clyne, Lovren, Lallana). Reduces opportunity for rotating, more fatigue, more injuries. I think they’ll recover at least to an extent next season as I don’t think there’s really anybody out there that can afford to buy Salah/Mane, but I don’t see it lasting beyond that without major investment.
With an aging squad, this is a long-term rebuild over several windows. I don’t think this gets sorted in one window. Especially in COVID-reduced finances transfer windows. Do Liverpool have any youth players coming through? Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliot...anyone else?
If the Bayern job becomes available (speculation, but Low must leave Germany job sooner or later, so Flick might take that), could Klopp resist? Zidane won’t last at Madrid much longer either...
