IMO There is a reason that players who play/have played in the attacking line for Dortmund (Kagawa, Mhiki, Sancho) look different for Utd. Dortmund, regardless of coach, for many years have played in neat triangles around the opponents box. Movement and the presence of technical players who can handle the ball in tight spaces in both the forward line and midfield (Kagawa, Mhiki, Sancho, Hazard, Reus, Goetze, Gundogan, Guerreiro etc). Utd didn’t have those technical players or that style of play when we bought Mhiki and Kagawa...hence why the general feeling was that these we quality players in the wrong setup ( see Klopps comments on Kagawa). The same can now be said for Sancho. Although we have players Who could potentially play a style that would suit Sancho- mata, DVB, martial, Greenwood...we still play an attacking game based on speed, power and individual talent - Rashford, Ronaldo, Bruno, Pogba. We rarely score the same goal twice, no patterns. It’s a style thing. Sancho would be electric for Pep or Klopp. In an actual planned attacking system where he knows his full back is almost always available and his centre midfielders are available for give and go’s. but We do not play in that style and having bought Ronaldo, we won’t be playing that way any time soon. Sancho is gonna find it tough in this team I think.
