Jadon Sancho: Free Agent

People rushing to diagnose his mental health condition. Sometimes a person can just be a w**ker.

Yeah been saying the same from the beginning of his time here, when he could have joined pre season earlier than he did.

Was claimed then he had mental health issues and there has been a really weird desire to characterise him as such.

Some people are just lazy. Can't be bothered. That combined with him being overrated in the first place.

Playing for city, dortmund, United, Chelsea and villa, playing in cl sf finals. This is more than most players will ever achieve in their career. You're just comparing with top players, he's comparing him to all professional players. He's a waste of space, but the only thing incorrect in the statement was saying he was wc, he's definitely anything but

I think my issue is that he peaked at Dortmund. Everything past that was people either buying him based on Dortmund or hoping that he could recapture some of that form. I think most players are also judged against their talent level and ceiling.

I get all that but going just off of the sheer volume of footballers that will come and go, Sancho has achieved more then most will do in their careers/have done. Won 2 European trophies, couple of league cups in multiple leagues, capped for England, played for Chelsea, United, Villa etc... He'll still probably look back at his career when it's said and done that he wasted his talent but compare it to the 1000's of players playing or have played he probably does have a better resume then most.

Yeah, you're right, he just doesn't have a CV that many players of his talent would be looking at and saying "I did well in my career and couldn't have expected any more".

Proper sad how his career has gone since Dortmund. Genuinely looked like he was going to be one of the best wingers in the world and then this. No idea if he's actually a bellend or not but man, it could have been so different.

In order of bolded:

1. A hard sell on a Utd forum.
2. He is, yes.

The problem in this thread is - and it’s been from the beginning - is the ignoring of the timeline of events. Guy gets destroyed by Southgate and is never the same again; like his candle was blown out. Sure, his mental fortitude can be scrutinised, but ignoring something fundamentally broke in him and ultimately altered his trajectory is something else. Saka seemed to come out stronger, or at least unaffected, but he likely wasn’t as fragile in the first place.

There’s no impression he truly didn’t GAF before then and I don’t think it really fits his profile - he was never some Robin Friday figure, before or after.
Naah, I'm not buying that. He had a history prior to Euro 21 of being lazy, late to training etc at Dortmund and if I remember correctly, there was stories of him having attitude problems at City as well. There's absolutely a profile of unprofessional behavior and its really not a stretch to see how someone who was acting like that on 25-60k (his reported Dortmund wages) is only going to turn it up to 11 when on 250k+ a week. It seems crazy that people will jump to defend this guy saying "he had mental health problems" and absolve him of all responsibility for his own actions, like you blaming Southgate, particularly when it spits in the face of evidence that he's just lazy and entitled. Not everything has to be a mental health crisis and calling everything that downplays people who actually have these issues.

No he couldn't have. Ole said he had a medical issue that kept him out.

Flixton is a name shared by four different places in England, most notably a suburban area and electoral ward in Trafford, Greater Manchester. The other locations include a village in North Yorkshire near Scarborough, a village near Lowestoft in Suffolk, and a village near Bungay in Suffolk.

Ah, that explains something

(I'm one of those United fans not from Manchester. I thought I vaguely remembered then found the Scarborough one on the map the other day, and wondered what he was doing over there )

He strikes me as someone who was obviously talented at football but didn’t have a high level dedication to it. He seems more enamoured with the stereotypical lifestyle of a top level footballer, where they’re going to millionaire parties in Dubai or Ibiza and changing girlfriends like most people change their underwear.

You can see why Ferguson was keen to get his players married with kids as soon as possible. It gives them responsibility and stability in their lives instead of being taken on a social life whirlwind, especially these days when six figures is rolling into your account weekly for a good number of players.

this ain’t jadon :annoyed: saweetie got a quiet lil man in a whole situationship wit his ps5

Its almost like the absolute minute he was guaranteed to get £250k a week, every week, for the next 5 years, at 21 years of age, that he lost all his motivation to be a professional footballer.

I wonder if there's a link.

Weren't some posters on this forum calling out his limitations, based on him observing him in that league, even before he left it?

Same as Rashford, I think missing those penalties for England got in their head and derailed their career when it was make or break

Rashford had one of his best seasons a year later, to be fair.

Sancho has just been consistently shite and uninterested.

Didn't get in Saka's head and he's younger than both. Also Rashford had a great 22/23 season. Think Sancho struggled to cope with physicality of PL and is too lazy to improve his game. Even when he back to Dortmund on loan he really wasn't great apart from that semifinal vs PSG.

He comes across as the type of guy who will always find a reason why it's not his fault. He won't take responsibility so he won't change or improve on his failings. He just didn't have the mentality for a big club.

Any sign of him getting a club? It would be a pity to see him go the way of Dele Ali.

Not surprising, just a pity.

Surprised he's even bothering trying to find a new club. I thought that football would eat into his valuable gaming time.

Why would it be a pity? He’s got an awful attitude

He’s taken us for a ride for years. If ever I’d like to see someone fall into absolute obscurity it’s this guy.

apparently he’s had offers from multiple champions league sides, he’s just waiting to see if space jam follow up on their interest.

Still a shame to see a talented young man's career go down the shitter. Still a person, and he'll have his own personal issues that none of us are aware of, as we all do.

Dele Ali had some very serious awful stuff happen to him as a child apparently. Totally different case to Sancho.

My presumption with Sancho is the penny hasn't dropped in regards to what he can now earn on a contract with a new club. There will be plenty of DoF who think they can revive his career, get him performing again and sell him on for a profit. He's only 26.

Someone can correct me, but I can't recall a fall from grace as abrupt as this one in recent times.

Given, Dortmund, Chelsea and Villa all were happy to take him on loan makes me think under the right circumstances he might be able to find a good club but his wages are massive stumbling block. We saw that with Chelsea, who were happy to use their obligation to buy but they couldn't agree terms with him.

I think he wants to stay at the top of European football and earn big wages and both aren't really an option. Has to either accept going to Saudi or Turkey vs slashing his wage demands to be at a more recognised European team in one of the top league.

We all have issues of course. He’s just a lazy fecker who has more money than any of us can dream of. Feck him.

If the lad genuinely still thinks he deserves & can demand those kind of wages he is after..... he's is living in a dream world in his own head, and deserves the downfall he is experiencing.

A bit of self awareness is in order.. Dortmund & Villa said no. Christ, Chelsea paid to send him back. I have zero sympathy. Pure greed over ambition

I think the terms they offered were more a face saving exercise than a real offer , they offered terms they knew he would not accept. Don't think they ever had any real interest in keeping him. Just the player himself had a made a big deal about going back to the club he supported etc , this was just a way out of the situation with least embarrassment all round. They paid us 5 million to take him back.

You'd have to wonder about the support circle around Sancho, and I don't want to bring others into this, but Rashford also.

Clearly being on mega money just killed any desire for the actual game. Now Sancho, and to a lesser extent Rashford, face being basically washed up in their mid to late 20's and I wonder have either ever thought long term consequences vs being content receiving that massive United and forget about everything else?

It's probably less of an issue for Rashford because he's nearer 30 now and probably has more brand value as opposed to football value these days, but Sancho is 26, without a club, has milked United for millions but surely no club would touch him now? Where does his life go from here?
