Seen how much City have spent on full backs and centre backs in last 4 years?? Another £60m tonight!

But they’re spending money replacing old players mainly. Clichy, Zabaleta etc left when they spent money on full backs and they’ve spent to replace Kompany with Otamendi and probably Stones (not good enough) leaving this summer.

We’re spunking money on new defenders expecting them to be good enough for the first team but are falling short, Bailey, Dalot, Lindelof and Maguire is about 170m worth of players....what a shambles.

I said. Why would sancho wants to play for us.

Go on. Enlighten me.

Other than a boatload of cash i dont think we offer much.
My god. Sorry but Listen to yourself.

Try listing the reasons why you ‘support’ United yourself.

The most famous club and brand on world football.
Incredible history
Unlimited amount of previous legends, take your pick who he might look up to.
Instant massive increase in his ‘brand’
Biggest fan following in world football.
Most successful club in Britain.
Exciting project with a focus on young players (believe it or not.)
We are not as far away as some like to kid themselves we are.
Linkup with players he’s familiar with through the England team.
The chance to wear the most famous no 7 shirt in history.
Fill the void that is our right wing and become a legend and the missing piece in our attack.
When AWB is fit and in form he will have absolute free reign on that RW.
Chance to form a career defining forward line for club and country with two other top forwards in Rashford and Greenwood (latter in particular once he’s our no 9.)

Thought of those in like 30 seconds.

Sorry but the self loathing in this place is beyond pitiful.

United the club fits Sancho the player as much as the player fits the club, that’s probably why he’s already agreed personal terms and wants to play here.

Dortmund have a fitter fitness coach than us

Big week coming up. And unlike last weeks, this time it's actually true. Either way this will be sorted finally.

We had a RB who had one of the worst defensive and offensive displays in United shirt and yet we need a LB more than a RB...
So - just because AWB played his first full 90 minutes for 2 months and was poor - he is useless ? You don't think something like match-fitness may have something to do with it ?

No because he's been making the same mistakes for months. A screen shot was put up of Vidic's comment about 7 months ago highlighting his defensive flaws and they were all on show yesterday.

To be fair, he has been pretty poor for awhile now. Had like a good first half of the season but really poor afterwards. Honeymoon definitely over.

Van de Beek, Bruno, Pogba, Greenwood, Martial & Rashford. I don’t know how he’s not getting excited to play with these bunch of players.

Bissaka, Williams & Laird are right foot. Shaw is a left foot. Pretty obvious why we need a left foot of left back.

The one thing missing from the "why would he want to come here" responses is this...

Maybe he's a confident lad and feels he can be the difference between United fighting for 3rd/4th and fighting for 1st.

Happy Sancho Day!

But he will play in their DFL Super Cup Final against Bayern on Wednesday.

Likely Medical Friday or weekend, announced some time after our game against Tottenham, either Sunday or Monday.

What are the lotto numbers for next weekends draw?

Oh I don’t know, Maybe he thinks huge club, huge fan base, massive history, playing with a young promising team with his mate Marcus and the chance to play with Pogba, Bruno, Greenwood, Harry, in the champions league, going back to England where he can be closer to his family.

Maybe he just has and always has had, like many other footballers a lot of admiration for Manchester United unlike some of its fans.

That's the best united can offer? Teammates, england based, history...

Sounds like the things we used to laugh at those signing for arsenal

At Dortmund he can be a great footballer.
At United he can be a global star.

Our last several big signing turns mediocre pretty fast btw...

Awb
Maguire
Pogba
James

At this moment we seems to suck talent out of every player we lay hands on. If sancho is wise he'll wait for a year to see where we're heading, at this rate we seems to be heading for top 4 at best case scenario.

I want him to sign, but it doesnt matter what positive I paint my club as if it doesnt serve his purpose

My comment had nothing to do with football ability. I meant that he will be more famous and increase his brand value by playing for us, even if we don't win anything. (But we will).

As for AWB, Maguire and Pogba. They are all great. Some bad games doesn't change that.
James was always a cheap punt, a project, at worst a squad backup that might become better.

We need to get down to serious negotiating this week. This saga has dragged on far too long. Make a decent offer and if it's not accepted either move on or pay what they want. We need players in.

Joining Utd, at this moment, is only a step forward for his bank account and his agent getting nice fees. Otherwise, there is no footballing reason that I could see
There is also what he can bring to our team. He might be thinking if I’m playing RW for Utd then I’ll get Martial, Rashford and Bruno loads more goals and that gets Utd closer to the top 2.

See the list in my previous response, every reason for the player to want the move.

The way you go on he should only move if Madrid or Liverpool come in for him, except neither need him. So he should just stay in Dortmund achieving nothing until he’s guaranteed trophies elsewhere?? Thank god youngsters don’t have that mindset.

At the moment we can't really offer footballing reasons for a top or potentially top player, yes. That's the reality. Thankfully, there are other considerations as footballers are human beings so we still have some pull.

Champions league and playing with an exciting group of attacking players.

Get a grip and stop being so dramatic over 2 games.

It’s as if you only think players want to go to Real, Bayern and City (For footballing reasons).

Which is why I said top or potentially top players. Obviously a James or a Wan Bissaka will be delighted with the chance of playing in the CL but Sancho can do that at Dortmund. They have exciting attacking players, too. What they can't offer is being in England or the wages we pay.

It's also not about two games but about the last seven years.

Where are people getting this? It’s like a cancer on this forum.

Which club has the most famous no 7 shirt?
Which is the most famous club on the planet? Which club and fans worship wingers more than any?
Which club is DESPERATE for a RW?
What bigger challenge than to help place a juggernaut of a club back on top?

We’re a sleeping giant with the absolutely perfect opportunity for this player to step straight into his preferred position and progress with other elite players his age.

If your Sancho looking at options, you HAVE to think it’s the perfect opportunity to become one of the most famous players on the planet if he comes here and helps get us back on top.
Chance to become the new Beckham, Ronaldo, Best. Give your heads a wobble, this is Manchester United.

I don't know why a top player would sign for us, unless he was a Utd fan.

We have been shite for 7 years and we won't be challenging for the Prem or CL any time soon. Not being negative, just realistic.

Top players also might sign for a manager with a proven track record and style. Ole has neither.

So yeah if he signs it will be because we will pay him double wages compared to all other suitors. That's what we have done for years, which is why we have donkeys stuck at the club on huge wages.

You are clearly someone who just wasts to beat the club up.

We finished 3rd last season, in the CL and have one of the most exciting attacks in the league. A top 3 that out scored Liverpool’s last season. Of course there are footballing reasons why top players want to come.

Shocking really when you consider the amount of cash we've spunked on our defence.
You can’t judge a defence purely on the back 4-5 players though. F

Fitness and match sharpness affects the defence much more dramatically than attacking players. Attacking players lacking fitness can still create in bursts whereas the defence needs to be concentrating all the time.

Also, defending requires the whole team to be involved and in the right positions with coordinated pressing.

Are Rashford and Greenwood helping out their full backs? Are the misplaced passes from Bruno and Pogba creating broken plays and dangerous situations for the defence to deal with?

Not to mention we had a ridiculous penalty given against Lindelof and a poor challenge by Bruno caused another against Brighton. Those can’t be laid on the defence.

Jeez this is a pandemic of its own this self pity.

I can sort of understand why the Scousers just kept talking like they were challengers, at least it shows a bit of backbone to believe in your club.

I don’t know who these fans are. Maybe it’s a generational thing where you just have to be negative and downcast about everything. Maybe their own lives are so shit that they think everything in life is shit. I feel sorry for them.

Like you say - give your bloody head a wobble.

It’s about being optimistic for the future as well. Why did Aguero and Silva join city?Yes, money was important but they could also see the team would compete in time.

When Ronaldinho joined Barca over us it made no sense in footballing terms. They had only qualified for the uefa cup and finished lower down the league while we the dominant team in England with some brilliant players.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
We’re literally 4 players away from having one of the most exciting young squads around. People also keep banging on about footballing reasons and projects...what bigger footballing project is there than joining a young talented squad at the biggest and most successful club in England and restoring them to their former glory? This place after a few bad performances is mad
