If I had the choice of choosing only one of the below 2 Options, I would 100 percent choose option 2.

1 - sign sancho for £100 million
2 - sign Zaha and grealish for £100 million

Grealish can play 4-5 attacking positions to a very high level and Zaha is a brilliant winger and soon to be 28. I’d do this and sign sancho next year.

Assuming and hoping the Jiminez( £30 million) rumours are true, we would be very well placed.

Our back 5 picks itself and I’d say that’s 5 first teamers there and there replacements I wouldn’t call first teamers (players who should be starting.) Then in midfield and attack we would have around 11 (12 next year with sancho) first teamers.

Matic, Fred, Mctominay, Pogba, Grealish, Zaha, Jiminez, Martial, Rashford, Greeenwood, Bruno, (Sancho).

16-17 first team ready players with the right age blend which is what all teams need in the modern game. Zaha and Jiminez Will be 29 & 30 when sancho signs giving us a balanced but potent squad.
The issue with holding off signing Sancho until next summer is the uncertainty regarding the future competition for his signature. Put it this way would you rather sign Zaha and Grealish and see Sancho sign for Liverpool or Chelsea next summer or sign Sancho and see Grealish and Zaha go elsewhere. I know which one I'd pick. We need to strike a deal this summer whilst we're in the unique position of having a clear run at him.

Zaha and Grealish do not get in our starting 11 when all fit.

Not to mention Zaha is a totally underwhelming and probably scored less than Dan James last season (that’s without me even checking.)

Can't believe in 2020 in a thread about us being days away from signing Sancho there's people actually positive about us signing some of the level of Wilfred Zaha. Seriously, go support another team.

Mental isn’t it, other clubs fans could only dream of signing Sancho a genuine world class talent.

No thanks I want Zaha who already played for us and had a horrible time.

We're going to pay whatever Dortmund ask us to pay.

The most financially vulnerable phase of football is over. All stakeholders got hit unexpectedly, now they'll plan for it better. Leagues, clubs and consequently footballers at the very top will adapt to the new state of football and quickly create a new bubble for their systems to function anticipating second and third waves of the virus over the next couple of years. The TV deals will not massively drop because they'll have increased coverage during social distancing and lockdowns, and will structure their payouts with more detailed ifs and buts. Corners will be cut in the wake of the new methods of functioning of clubs, and diverted to PR in terms of charity or support to deflect criticism of that bubble. Another Maguire will ask for a 30% cut to charity, another Rashford will drive a strong social cause. Germany, Italy, Spain, France and England all receive massive amounts of much needed taxes from this footballing bubble and would be reluctant to interfere unless things are really really bad. If the leagues and clubs are already practicing the policies recommended and football keeps morale high, why should they interfere?

The bottom line, in my opinion, is that this is the only time when clubs will be so badly hit with the imbalance between revenue and expenses, and hence this is the only window where it is really bad for clubs to spend big. By next season, clubs at the top (only at the top) will be in better financial shape again, and will be willing to pay more for top players. There are a handful clubs who can pay 100m for a player if their finances are functioning as usual, but there's only one Jadon Sancho with a year left on his contract.

If I were Dortmund, I would quote the usual price for him, fully expecting no one to meet it and happy if someone does. Next year, someone or the other will pay a fortune for him nonetheless after a bidding war - there's enough evidence to be sure that he's no one season wonder. Even if he has a poor season and it means the fee is 30m-40m lesser, it shows that they won't be lowballed and they would have recouped some of that loss in his performances nonetheless with another good league/CL run.

I'm sure the money people at United know this, and I'm sure Ed would be looking back at all the times we tried to negotiate for a top player but ended up paying premium at the end because we're still not in a position of strength yet. We either pay what they want, or we quit. And given the possible returns over the next decade from such a young prodigy and the insane balance he'll add to our squad straightaway, we will not quit.

There will be a lot of posturing over the transfer window, a lot of drama with United trying we can to lower that price, but in the end we'll pay what Dortmund ask, and we'll get Sancho.
I stand by this statement from a month ago and give it a week before we pay what Dortmund want. He's going to get the number 7.

Tbh, i rate Zaha a lot. Sancho is of course a dream signing and is priority but i would not mind having Zaha also.
Sancho-Martial-Rashford. Zaha-Ighalo-Greenwood. That would be monster attack.

And on top of that is only a good player at his level at Palace. I watch a lot of football and what is clear is a lot of people are basing their opinions without watching the players they have opinions on at all. Zaha was bang average this year and was decent the year before.

He could probably go up a level at another club I just don't think he'll ever be the good enough for where we want to be. He's dreadfully inconsistent, dreadfully predictable, and his attitude on the pitch is tragic. The thought of watching a shite version of Nani doesn't do anything for me.

As much as he thinks he's too good for Palace he's still not exactly carrying them is he? It might not be his level, but his level isn't much higher than that, and it certainly isn't Man Utd.

I think people rate zaha because arsenal tried to buy him last year. He would the perfect moyes signing.

Sancho is a one time opportunity that will change things for real and in the future make us title challengers again.

You're delusional mate. Pogba has never lived up to the 90m price tag once.
Be interesting to have a poll on here to see if people feel he's lived up to expectations. I'd say no where near personally. Verging on a big disappointment considering expectations. Admittedly those expectations may have been unrealistic on my part.

I'm not having a pop but I think most of Pogba's detractors are in the same boat. They never watched him enough for Juve and had a mad idea of the player they were getting. For me he's lived up to what I expected, but I watched a lot of him playing in that Juve side and have many games like he has for us. I think Youtube compilations have a lot to blame for why Pogba is regarded as such a disappointment. He's never been the star game changing man really which is what people thought they were getting, more a brilliant cog in a well oiled machine. Hopefully next season he can be that for us, now that we actually look to be building a machine and not a load of spare parts thrown together.

I'm concerned a lot of the highlight reels and whoscored has his best games as a left forward/left attacking midfield instead of right forward or right attacking midfielder.

Can anyone who watches Dortmund frequently attest to whether he is best on the left or right?

You know a deal is close once the negative press stories emerge. Almost there lads, almost there.

So now we're having trouble agreeing terms with Sancho? I thought that was already agreed. Or was it just another "filler" sentence the tweeter punks add when it seems that the deal is happening.

I don't remember this happening for AWB, Maguire or Bruno. Can someone verify? Happened for Dybala though I believe.

There were some stats which showed he plays best on the left - however he still plays great on the right.

No. Dybala wasn't interested in moving anywhere, it was Juventus that were interested in getting rid and wanted to use him in a swap deal for Lukaku.

Hope it's not another Sanchez situation where everyone expects him to play on the right but because of his fee/wages he gets preferred to play on the left leaving the right wing in the same state..

I meant that everyone already reported that we agreed terms with Sancho. If that was true, he wouldn't have gone back on his word, so I assume it's just something the tweeter guys add to make their tweets longer when it looks like the deal is happening, when in reality we probably haven't even agreed the terms with Sancho at that time.

It will happen eventually anyways, there is always some drama towards the end.

It's fair enough. I remember @JPRouve saying at the time that expectations were over the top for what he'll actually offer. As you say he's not the leader and protagonist we hoped for but can be an important cog in the machine.

They said the 10th but it's been widely reported that it isn't a strict deadline and talks are ongoing. Plus, it's a solid week away...
Glad to see you think Woodward can get anything done in week... takes him longer to tie his shoe laces. And also pleased you think you know Dortmund better than Dortmund know Dortmund. Are you Ed, by any chance?

When have these rather arbitrary deadlines ever been enforced?

Clubs usually set some kind of date when they want their business sorted, have time to find replacements, bed them in and so on. Still a lot of moves go down to the wire and take forever to complete, can't see many clubs walking away from 100ish million just because they only have 28 days yo prepare instead of 30.

There's always one who's late to the party and can't read the room.

Posts like this are the equivalent to getting your guitar out at a party and playing Wonderwall badly.
Very poor Eric Cantona impersonations aren't much better

I am not saying the deal won't get done. I'd just like to get things done early for once, especially given that there is no "long summer" break between seasons. We need players in as soon as possible so they can start to train with the squad (not everyone can do what Bruno did). Also, as I said, Dortmund have put a time on this deal to be done... or are all of you saying that Woodward's track record is good?
