It's not like he's going to a training camp on the other side of the world like Asia or America. Also I think that they are only there for a week so what significance is there of actually being in the squad? This'll still get done regardless of their own deadlines.
Even if they going to the other side of the world, he still would have gone and I don't think it would be an issue. Not sure if he played in any games, but pretty sure Lukaku went on our pre-season tour to Australia last summer. If we told him to stay home before anything is agreed when the buying club would have the upper hand.

I don't think you understand the term. I'm being realistic. What did i say that wasn't?

If Dortmund are making an announcement today on Sancho, what realistically do you think they're going to say?

If Dortmund do say it's off, after giving United a clear deadline that United briefed as "artificial" - Who would be to blame for the deal not happening?
Na you are completely ignoring the fact that Dortmund are proven serial liars. They will say anything to control the narrative. That's why you most definitely are having a meltdown. One can say you are being "willfully ignorant" even.

This whole deadline is totally artificial to try and negotiate the price down on their other transfer targets. It's all theater and Sancho will be a United player in the near future.

Romano says the same and added that talks have been on for 2 weeks

Also

No one has reported the latter yet
This is what doesn’t make sense to me, the whole point in holding off is because we don’t want to pay their price, not agreeing something today would mean we cant agree on a fee and that won’t change unless we cave in. Which based on the briefs we aren’t going to do. It’s off!

Imposing an early deadline for a 120m purchase. That have no idea who they are dealing with. Woody has a cunning strategy to wait as long as possible and then bid 130m.

My theory is that we will buy him the day after we win the Europa League as that £8.5m prize money is just that extra little push we need :wenger:

An old uni pal of mine that I'm still in touch with works at the Guardian (joined fairly recently). He says folk there were briefed that a deal was reached a while ago and will be announced officially early next week. Woodward posturing so the clubs of other targets think we have bugger all left in the coffers after this. Supposedly some left-back from France and Bennacer from Milan but that wasn't part of the brief just speculation.

He's only given me scoops on Scottish football before, hasn't been one to bullshit. In any case it is too late in the game for me to make money on this info so thought I would share here and keep the muppets juices flowing.
He's not been in touch with folk since Friday, but just messaged me again there saying they were pretty open and adamant that it is done and the wait is so other deals aren't affected etc. That was a reply to me calling him a WUM.

I still don't think you know what a meltdown is.

Contract almost ready? He's been saying that was done!

I don't trust anyone reporting on this. Sure people know elements of what's going on, but only the bits both clubs are happy to let slip.

This is turning into a classic Utd saga where the leeches are happy to get their attention based on absolutely nothing. Worst thing is the likes of Woodward positively encouraging the spread of misinformation so he can report positively back to board meetings regarding online traffic.
Has never said it.

Let's be honest does it suit either club to announce this or get it done early in the window? I think both will be happy to keep quiet until late in the day irrespective of what's been said/agreed behind the scenes. It would kill both sides in negotiations for other players.
I'm sorry, but I got to ask: do you genuinely not understand why a club might want to do their pre-season knowing which player will be their lead in attack? And do you genuinely believe Dortmund could just call up the club of a potential Sancho replacement, pretending they just randomly want to add a star attacker to their team, running a huge transfer deficit in Covid times?

Thats the thing, it's not that we don't want to pay what Dortmund want, it's the fact that we can't seem to agree on a structure to pay them by. Looks like we want to include bonuses whereas Dortmund don't want that, they want pure cash. We'll come to some sort of agreement when both teams accept a compromise, and it'll most likely be an upfront payment, followed by a set amount for say 2 or 3 years following.

Probably just means almost done as in not signed yet and needs to be looked over by Sancho's people etc.

Can't be finished if he hasn't signed yet.

English is also not his first language we have to remember.

You are just in denial, it's ok, it's just a transfer saga not the end of the world.

People like you illustrate why these media tactics work well though.
When did I suggest it was a bad thing? Or that I was upset by it?

You clearly didn't read what I said. I think you just clicked on the thread hoping someone would be having a meltdown so you could comment on it. But then just skimmed my message without reading it properly.

This won’t get done until Dortmund have got their replacement lined up - don’t think it will be Depay as Lyon normally try and screw everyone over and it would be obvious to them if they came in for him now that they had a bounty of cash - unless a deal in principal has been agreed and it won’t be announced until after they are out of the CL?

However, just seems that everything has to be such a long drawn out saga with very Utd transfer - why can’t we be fast and assertive and just get things done?

Have they publically ever mentioned a deadline to climb down from?
They have apparently been telling every journalist who wants to listen that their two red lines are 10 August and €120m.

To get a deal done, they will certainly now have to climb down from the former - we'll be hoping that they climb down from the latter, too.

If the supposed BVB press conference is not followed up by a MUFC briefing to Simon Stone saying we pulled out, it's not over.

I have to also ask do you think this deal depends on what's said today?

I can see both sides but it's naive to consider this as done so early in the window irrespective of what's said in the background.

The replacement player is supposedly Depay though. He’s currently elsewhere so that deal isn’t being done for a few weeks irrespective of what happens with Sancho. Putting such an early deadline on it was just bluster. If we stump up the cash Sancho will leave. Sancho has been very respectful so far but if I was him and Dortmund agreed to sell at a set price and then rejected that bid because of some nonsensical artificial deadline I’d stop being quite so respectful.

Now whether we actually stump up an acceptable fee is another matter. My personal feeling is if they’ve been negotiating for a week and still can’t come to an arrangement then it isn’t looking good.

Oh I read your initial post extremely clearly. I do think Zorc will say that Sancho will stay another season today but may still likely sanction his sale in the next week or two. Why? Because he's done this multiple times before with other players.

I knew you had lost the plot with this part: "United would only have themselves to blame if Dortmund do stop contact now. They were given a deadline and didn't take it seriously." You have been sucked in hook line and sinker into the media narrative that United and Dortmund's PR teams have crafted.

The only deadline that matters is the end of the transfer window. Journalists have already said that the Dortmund imposed deadline is artificial so I'm not just guessing here. Its all theater that advances both United's and Dortmund's interests, United in telling other clubs that they are limited in terms of money they can spend so don't expect a crazy fee for your player and Dortmund in telling clubs that they aren't going to be flush in cash to shell out an exorbitant fee for a replacement.

Wow you are actually convinced that United won't buy Sancho!
Did I say that? I think guys like Romano and Falk are taking people for a ride. When a transfer looked likely they fed on people's hopes by producing very optimistic reports (wasn't it Bild who claimed United had actually submitted that 70-30-20 offer?) and now that things appear to have slowed down or even petered out their line is "clubs are negotiating 24/7, could go either way".
As long as there is some room for doubt they will give "updates" to milk the muppets for clicks and retweets.

The Reddit ITK's have said similar. He could just be quoting them. Logically it doesn't make much sense for journos to sit on information for weeks on end.

Depay has just a year left on his deal and refusing to extend. Likely to be him all things considered and likely it will only happen when Lyon are knocked out first.

You definitely imply that when you refer to Zorc's statement as the way to "put this distraction to bed". Distraction meaning the transfer of Sancho and to bed meaning the end of transfer talks.

I would rather this ends today than wait another one or two months and still leave embarrassed after that. I don't think there is a point in getting the fee down. And if it was only about the structure, this could have been done by now.

People negotiate deals during World Cups, I doubt that the CL tournament would put things on hold, especially if it's true that United have a €35m buyback clause for Depay, cutting Lyon out of negotiations.

You definitely imply that when you refer to Zorc's statement as the way to "put this distraction to bed". Distraction meaning the transfer of Sancho and to bed meaning the end of transfer talks.
Putting the distraction of endless transfer "updates" to bed. I won't pretend to know how things stand behind the scenes, especially not in times of crisis.

Nah no way. He's not a massive football fan, just watches the SPL. I didn't know about this reddit ITK nonsense so seriously doubt he does. He'll be relaying what he's been told.
