Think it's been made clear that both Ole and the player want the move by now. What's still not clear is whether the club can actually pull it off unfortunately
I guess we just can't find enough cash to finance the deal? Its kind of wanting to buy a car and not having enough money up front - thus haggling and hoping that the seller will accept a lower deal while in the meantime also asking friends and families for loans and spending time negotiating the interest on those.

What else is there to say?
Ole on phone:
“Sorry Sancho. I know Woodward and the board are doing an incompetent job of completing your transfer. I am just as frustrated as you. Trust me. It’s me who will be the first one on chopping block if things go spear-shaped this season.”

How do you exactly offer someone. Do they get delivered to Ed's office in a bowtie.
You may be facetious with your question, but United have a network of agents that keep in touch with the club. Those agents come to United and offer them a player or more in case they can be brought into the club. That was the case with Reguilon recently.

I’m still sticking by my prediction of a formal bid this week prior to the opening Dortmund game of the season and Sancho not playing due to not being in a fit state of mind. It’s getting close though, they play on Friday

Trusting the clueless norwegians on transfer news...

Seems to be some more positive noise coming out now in general after a miserable few days. Just waiting for the opening humiliation by Palace before we panic buy again.

Anyone listen to talksport before? Tim Sherwood reckons we have run out of money and that our only signing of Donny proves that, he said theres no way the Sancho deal will happen, never liked Sherwood as a player or pundit

So if Sancho submit an transfer request, it means he gives up the loyalty bonus, then Dortmund would save 3-5 millions.

Otherwise, Dortmund would ask Man Utd to compensate that, i.e. give them 3-5 millions more.

I guess this is one of the final things that dragging the deal.

How pundits with no connection (or even any connection) know are financials is beyond me. They’re just paid to chat absolute breeze during the transfer window.

He’s just hurt we didn’t sign his mate Jack. He’s been saying for 6 months he’s what we need and Sancho isn’t necessary.

Tim Sherwood may be right but it would be more by luck than judgement. He's generally a useless and bitter clown.

I reckon it's true. I mean c'mon if anyone's going to know what's going on behind the scenes at United it must be someone like Tim Sherwood who has no connection with the club whatsoever.

That’s because for ages he has almost been begging for us to sign Grealish. It was a bit weird.

Had ANYONE heard of that Norwegian bloke before this window? I love what he's selling but I'm not sure I'm buying it.
Same but it’s taken as gospel that he’s reliable, tier 1 or whatever you wanna call it.

I actually agree with spending it all on Sancho if that’s the only option. I’m just saying this is the kind of thing Utd would do which is why I’m confident they will do the deal.
I mean in general as well. I'd rather us add 1/2 quality options per transfer window than a bunch of Schneiderlins

This will go right to the wire. I think given we are

Why is this guy even being given the time of day? Who is he? He seems to just be on the wind-up to me.
A Norwegian journalist with close ties to Ole like his mouthpiece.
Like Marcel Van De Kraan was LVG`s mouthpiece or Duncan Castles was Mourinho`s mouthpiece he`s not been wrong on any Utd story he`s reported

When is the deadline for registering players for CL? If Sancho comes it should be before that...

He`s not tier 1 exactly but he has close ties to Ole so his Utd news will likely be accurate and he`s not been wrong on any Utd story he`s reported
He`s to Ole what Van De Kraan was when LVG was here or Castles when Mourinho was here

Pretty sure he was the first to announce Ole taking over as caretaker after Jose got the sack

Rather spend all the money on someone like Sancho, than buy a bunch of mediocre players who need replaced in a year or 2.
Agree. Would much rather get a world class talent in and sort one position of the squad out for the long term. Rather than sign a handful of bog standard dross that we will pay over the odds in wages and struggle to shift them.

You would like to see it done more quickly but even if we address each position in the squad with a world class player each summer I'd be happy with that approach and I actually think it will get us challenging more quickly than the alternative. If we need squad fillers look at the loan market until the squad is the finished article, like Bayern have done shrewdly (and obviously promote from within our own youth where possible.)

Sherwood was adamant towards the end of last season that Grealish was coming to Utd, trying to be coy and dropping hints that it was a done deal. Normally, I try not to criticize pundits, but I really dislike that guy and the smugness with which he speaks.

New talks between Solskjær and Sancho. The norwegian has told Sancho that he thinks the transfer shoul be done soon, but some "difficult negotiations” remains.

edit: Dagbladet (the newspaper) also understands that united hopes to make two more signings before the DL, Sancho being one of them.
Feast on this my fellow Muppets, and keep the train moving.

I'm more interested in the other player that he apparently wants to sign. We haven't really been linked to anyone recently, except Thiago.

How reliable is Fredrik?
Id like to think he’s Solskjaers BBF and they text eachother all day.

Truth is, he’s probably just some random Norwegian guy who people take slightly seriously because he’s the same nationality as our boss

Reading between the lines of the stories doing the rounds at the moment it seems United have the money but due to fans not being allowed in the stadium finances are tight, especially considering we don't know when fans will be allowed to return. There's also a concern that we could see a second wave and another lockdown around Christmas, which would mean clubs have to pay back TV rights they've been paid again.

I can understand the concerns from the club when there's this much uncertainty around the finances this year. I'm still confident this will happen though, United will pay it eventually, I just think it will boil down to Dortmund taking a deferred payment if there's a lockdown again or if no fans are allowed this season.
