So he did not want to lower his wage so Chelsea refused to buy him? If true this guy needs to be brain checked unless a Saudi team offers him crazy money

Presumably he will still go to the world club cup? Or are they not taking him?
Surely there's no point taking him. He could only play their group games - he's hardly going to be motivated to play and the manager would surely prefer to play players who will be at Chelsea next season and at the bare minimum playing the rest of the tournament.

Could we pay the difference between his chelsea wage offer and remaining contract? He'll earn about 8 million next year from us, how much could it cost?
Seems idiotic not to take whatever they were offering on his part.

It's a shame he's a lazy knob with an attitude problem. I actually think his skillset (effort aside) is well suited for one of the #10 positions behind the striker.
It really isn’t

There’s a reason no manager has tried him in a 10 role and Amorim’s ‘L10’ isn’t much different. He’s a winger who needs to be on the touchline that’s where most his best (albeit very little) good plays comes from. His only move is to have the opposition full back follow him leaving space in behind for an under lapping player. He also struggled back to goal and take contact to play in the 10 role

Our only hope is Saudi Arabia. Failing is that he will get a loan where we fund half his wages (no obligation) until the end of his contract. Now way anyone will pay us above 20 million and match his ridiculous wages

"Here's a load more money to sit around doing nothing for even longer" might not be a bluff you want to offer Sancho!

He would happily take that and get paid for the next two seasons for doing noting. I hope that kind of stupidity left the club with Woodie.

Why in the feck would we want to be stuck with him even longer?

Why the hell would we do that. Would rather just pay him off at this rate.

So y'all are okay with him going out on loan (w/ some subsidized wages) for another year and leaving on a free after? I feel we can get some non zero amount of money for him.

We sold 8 players last summer... where you get 30 from?

My ideal solution is to get rid of him and I think we will

I said we moved on. Released, sold and retired. We will get sancho out the door, but we will pay in and won't be making no 20 to 25m now. I reckon loan again,5m fee and we will pay maybe 40 to 20percent of wages for yr. Leaves next season on free and gets signing on fee In SA maybe. We knew the character he was,he shouldn't have allowed him to get near a free. We should have sold for 15 to 20m 24months back. He's no appetite to compete and is money motivated. Worst signing imo for utd. And I was happy when we signed him. Looked the business in Germany.

Who’s going to pay 25 million for him? Then match his wages?

He wasted the year before, and this year he has proven he is not as good as he thinks he is - he is stupid but can't be this stupid to think he can get the same salary anywhere but Saudi (I think he'd go). If he thinks he can play still at a high level then he will happily take a lower wage elsewhere

The 25 million I think is still achievable as someone will take a punt. But again, if it's a Saudi team then easy

Right... we moved on 12 players not 30... so where did that number of 30 come from?

We made 5m... so we need to find a buyer for 15m. You never know who can turn up in a transfer window.

Its easy to say we should have done xyz 24 months back, there was no offer for him 24 months back.

Honestly feck him so much. The disrespect he has shown this club when it bent over backwards to help him is worth taking a stand for the remaining money. Put his ass to work in the kitchens for Carrington they might need the staff help

Nobody is going to shell out any cash for him as they know we are desperate to get rid and he wants to sit on his salary.

Far from us getting some money in for him it’s going to cost us to get him out the door this summer.

All we can do is make his time back as difficult as possible.

Nobody is offering him anything close to what we're paying. He'll probably push for another loan move where we still cover part of his wages.

Absolute clown.

dont let him train with the senior players, only the u18s.

Or dont let him in carrington.

The clown is the person who gave him that contract.

I read through nearly all pages here and for me its strange that there are still expectations.
Facts 90% of users here agree:
1. He will not play for United again.
2. He wont take any pay cuts
3. No club who can pay his wages, is interested enough to pay transfer fees.

Isn´t there only 1 option?
Let him go on a free and be happy to save his wages.
How can you ever make +ev in this last year?

You don't save his wages with that option, he won't leave unless he is paid in full and there is no way to void his contract without his consent.

We do only have 1 option though that is true, find the club willing to make the largest contribution towards his remaining wages and loan him to them until his contract expires next year.

Seems like he's fallen out of love with football and is happy to collect a paycheck for doing the bare minimum (training; turning up once a week for a 30-45 minute cameo). Shame really as you'd like to think he'd be more professional. Still, if someone paid me a boat load to fulfil the most basic contractual obligations I wouldn't complain.

This is the worst game of hot potato in recent memory. Thanks for the £5M I guess, now to loan him out somewhere. Too bad he couldn't stay on at Chelsea and poison the well

But wasnt the expection Chelsea takes him and pays a 25 million transfer fee? Maybe they would take him on a free.
The biggest problem with something like that I see is that he will not sign a 1 year deal, he will want a 2 year or 3 year deal and no pay cuts, at minimum in the first year, since he has guarantted wages from United.
My point is, a transfer fee is completely unrealistic. So shouldn´t United immediatly start looking for anyone taking him at all.

What now for the guy? I suppose he could try to impress Amorim for whom he's never played. It would be a massive benefit if he could finally recreate his Dortmund form but I remain doubtful

Eh ?

We'd stil have to pay him his final years wages anyway. I'm all in favour of just cutting our losses and paying him off at this stage. We have pay him anyway. At least this way he'll no longer be our problem

The lack of self awareness this dud has is mind boggling..

I don't think there is a lack of self awareness at all. Lets say hes on £300k/week at United and Chelsea were going to pay him £150k/week. He could just sit at United for a year and get 2 years of what would have been his Chelsea salary. He could sit at United for a year and leave on a free transfer and then any club who wants him doesn't have to pay a transfer fee so the wages they give him could be far higher.

As an example, if Chelsea were offering him £150k/week and paid £25m for him on a 5 year contract, they could spend the same and pay him basically £250k/week over those same 5 years if there was no transfer fee.

All Sancho would have to do to make it worth his while to stay at United for the year and then sign as a free agent is get someone to pay him ~£150k/week which wouldn't be remotely hard for him.

He has been shit for years and think he deserves a high wage.. :nervous:

Because he will still get his high wage from United and then another one based on being a free agent. Thats why he thinks he deserves it. Same reason Rashford won't move unless the right salary is offered somewhere else or United compensate him. This is why you don't give players insane base salaries. This is a large part of why we have struggled so much over the past 10-15 years. You can't expect to do well when you are constantly stuck with players on massive salaries who aren't worth half their paycheque.
