Jadon Sancho | Official Villain

It's a season long loan though, isn't it? So by the time his loan is up, surely that means his contract here is going to be over as well so that he can leave on a free transfer, and we never have to speak of him again?

This is what I'm hoping unless the club has found some amazing way to feck this up and we end up stuck with him yet again...

Don't be too surprised when the contract option the club has is activated.

Doesn't seem like an Emery type of player. Is there an option or obligation?

Neither. There’s a contract expiry happening at United. He’ll be a free agent next summer assuming we don’t activate the extension. Villa will mostly be rejecting him this time next summer.

I see, I thought I read we had activated the extension. Either way, thanks Villa for taking Radford last season and now Sancho.

Someone asked Grok what he brings to Villa, and the thing said "pace".

What's the latest on if we triggered the +1 or not? I couldn't keep up with all the deadline day activity.

Really hope there is no truth to him being the reason that Martinez deal collapsed because it's another reason to be annoyed with his antics. Still no one seems to have got word on what transfer fee we were willing to pay for Martinez. Presume wages weren't the issue as they said personal terms agreed yesterday.

So we’re paying him around £2.5m in wages until June 30 (assuming he’s on 300k).

What was the loan fee? Surely that would cover a good chunk of the £2.5m.

It will be 5 years next summer when his contract expires. Take away his loans to Dortmund, Chelsea and now Villa + take away time when he did not play (once because of mental issues, other time because of his fight with ten Hag) and you're left with such a little actual time where he played for Man United. His performance away to Leeds in 2022 (under Rangnick) was good, the one where he scored vs Liverpool in ten Hag's 3rd game as well and think the one vs Chelsea when we won 4-1. Goal vs Liverpool being only significant moment. Also missed that penalty in CS vs City (thankfully it wasn't important game) and won't be surprised if we costs us again after he rejected Martinez swap deal.

Yeah he will take any chance to screw us over

If it is true that it was him that caused the Martinez deal to colapse then he actually did something good for the club on his way out.

So you would prefer Bayindir/Onana in goal for City, what was your issue signing Martinez then?

Martinez is 33 and just isnt good enough at this point so signing him would have been a bad move for the club
Keepers don't age in the same way as outfield players so Sancho partly responsible for messing it up

The article on the Athletic just says we hold the option. I see Romano hasn’t mentioned it in his tweet above confirming the breakdown of the deal and it wasn’t mentioned in the club confirmation either.

So my guess is we haven’t triggered it at this point (and hopefully never will).

Surely we can't be that daft.... please, please let us not be that daft....

Nice that we don't have to think about him for a while

So it was Chelsea for lower wages or Aston Villa for full wages. And he had a clear preference haha. Good thing is Chelsea still wanted a winger so they bought Garnacho instead. For us the ideal outcome

Sancho's found himself some high-quality teams to play in (Dortmund, Chelsea, Villa) for a guy who allegedly doesn't care about football.

I cant believe we got them to pay 80% of his wages as well

Why this secrecy on the loan fee?

In the end the cnut got what he wanted from the very beginning. I hope he flops hard and can't find any takers on the sign-on and wages he desires.

I doubt his options next year will be so much better that it was worth to reject Chelsea, Roma and whatever other Italian, Turkish and Saudi teams enquired.

This is such a desperate move. I suppose if he plays well we execute the extra year and retain some sale value and if he doesn’t play well (no surprise) we just cut our losses?

Take your meds Ed you're getting those dangerous ideas again

Because his talent precedes him and clubs still believe it can be extracted or him potentially flipped for profit.

I think there's no "allegedly" about it anymore, at this point.
The transfer thread was full of predictions that he'd sit out the year and collect his wages. Instead he has moved to a solid PL club, one similar in performance to the best sporting offer he had (Chelsea), while keeping his wages. Pretty good sporting/financial move.

The guy's a prick and hates United but must care about football to some extent.
