Seems to be running into issue after issue. Latest being Grace Jones quitting not long after arriving on set.

Spectre was a huge let down and with this one being Craig's last Bond I'd hope it would be a good one, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Hopefully they'll pull it out of the bag.

It will be Craig's last for sure. Hope is at least a good Bond film; I'm not expecting something as great as Casino Royale (ehem, because of ehem, Fleming the Master) or as risky-successful as Skyfall. And at least Spectre was not as bad as QoF (God, that was awful).

Anyway, Grace Jones? THE Grace Jones? Another role in a Bond film? (not anymore, it seems)

They should’ve recasted and reboot.

I love Craig’s Bond, but he looked thoroughly tired and old in Spectre. You can’t do a good Bond film when Bond himself is going through the motions.

Hadn't seen Casino Royale in years but just caught a bit of it on TV and it all looks so much less laboured than the most recent films. Definitely time to start again, though god knows what direction they could actually take it in that would seem in any way fresh.

Idris could pull it off IMO but I'm not sure how many movies he would have in him. Tom Hiddleston would be a natural choice but I don't think it would be very fresh.

Can scarcely imagine how much they must have had to pay Craig to do another one - he looked bored out of his mind during Spectre, like he wished he was absolutely anywhere else (which, to be fair, is pretty much how I felt watching that bullshit).

Hell no. He lacks the gravitas to play the role.
I just want to remind you that Daniel Craig, a man with the charisma of a sponge, starred in the last 4 Bond movies. Hiddleston is a much more natural successor to the likes of Connery, Moore and Brosnan that can actually combine different aspects of James Bond's image in one character. Idris Elba would be perfect though.

Daniel Craig has 2 hits (Casino Royale and Skyfall) and 2 misses (Quantum Of Solace which was terrible and Spectre which was bordering on ok) as Bond.

So I'm hoping he goes out on a high with Bond 25 but as previously mentioned I just don't think his heart is in it anymore. They will have thrown loads of money at him to make this movie and given the issues they've had so far I'm not overly optimistic.

They would have been better cutting him loose and giving the job to someone else now because with the films being 2/3 years apart an actor can age very quickly playing Bond and it will probably be 2023 before we see another one, by which time the clock will be ticking on the various candidates to replace him.

Agreed. Bond in Flemming's books is always mid to late 30s. Sure actors can be aged down in films, but if they want someone to build a 3-4 movie franchise over 10+ years they better pick someone in their 30s rather than someone already in their 40s. Never mind older. And Elba would be 50+ by the time the start shooting the next one.

Bond should be played by a Brit if you ask me. He's the most British thing ever. How can a German or Australian play him. Well sure, they can and just fake the accent, but I'd go for a Brit.

How about the kid from Rocket man and Kingsman?

Taron Egerton? I like him as an actor but think he's too young to be a Bond yet.

He'll be in his early 30s before the first potential Bond with him in it comes out. Surely being 32 is a much better age for being an international spy / action hero / lady's man than the usual geriatric suspects like Kiefer fecking Sutherland.

Though I do enjoy Kiefer as the world's corniest president in TV history.

Richard Madden's an alright shout. Most of the actors who've been touted for the part for years (Elba et al) are too old for it now.

True, he'd be older than Connery was at the time of the first film if he gets the role. But he's maybe a bit too babyfaced for it.

Spoilers!
Blofeld was always going to be back in this movie given that he survived last time.

I’m still convinced they are going for a sort of remake (ish) of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Editing my own posts.
Egerton is too young looking (regardless of his actual age) Madden’s too short and Hiddlestone has a weird mouth, but is probably the best “star” they could get.... Also there’ve already been more non-English actors in the role than English ones...so that really isn’t an issue. If Jon Hamm was 10 years younger and could do an English accent, I’d have him in a heartbeat.

Elba and Fassbender are easily the best picks, but as others have said, they’re too old now. Craig is already approaching Moore levels of awkward grandad-Bond, and he’s in way better shape than any actor to have played the role. He should’ve bowed out with Skyfall tbf... I think there’d be a lot more interest in a new Bond than another Craig one.

Nolan wants to do one, but only if he can start a new cycle, make his own story and cast his own Bond...so if I were the Broccoli’s, I’d just let him do that. Forget the ‘franchise’ for a bit and focus on just how much money a Nolan directed Bond film would rake in... even if it was shit. ‘Cos it would be A LOT. More than enough to cover the next couple of basic bitch nonsenses as a write off.
