The back pages are full of Maddison getting caught in a casino after withdrawing from the England squad but reading further into the stories this doesn't appear to be an isolated incident with more than a few others, including Southgate, expressing concerns over his attitude and off field antics.

Given that he's on the radar for United could he be one to swerve? All talent aside, we just don't need one more bell end.

They are human, as long as they are professional on the pitch and don't do things legal... Then Meh.

Rooney was always out and about.

Why did he pull out? Injury? If so then what’s the issue.

Let’s see if he gets the same treatment of Lingard when we spunk £90mil on him to replace Pogba with days to go in the window, next summer.

So anyone who goes to a casino is a bell end? Or are players not allowed outside if they’re injured?

Bloke has too much money and can afford to gamble, if he’s injured going to a casino shouldn’t be an issue. Don’t get what the issue is what he gets up to in his private life.

Edit, sorry he was unwell with a virus and felt better on the second day, wasn’t allowed to join squad, so went down to casino. Complete none story.

Omg he is at the casino and injured, how dare he.
Tony Cascarino on Talksport was going mad with the media's obsession with footballers private lives. He is a poker player himself and said looking at the chips he was using he was not gambling that much. He wasn't falling down drunk. Players cannot even go out with their other halves for a meal without people being scandalised.

He's doing alright at the moment so the media have to hunt for ways to bring him down to earth with a thump.

And Steven Gerrard went mental because the DJ wouldn't play Phil Collins.

It's hardly a surprise that a 21-year old professional footballer, making a fortune, can be a bit of a twat on a night out. I'd assume that most people in here that are on a fat wage has boasted about it on a night out. Unless Maddison is doing this on a regular basis then i don't really see that issue that he acted a twat once

The press really need to back off a bit. They moan when players are offhand with them. Is it really surprising at times. The big problem in some cases is the general public and their obsession with photographing everything then going to the press with pictures to make money.

Mind the business that pays you. Footballers get to have a life and can do whatever the hell they want. As someone said above we should only be concerned with why they do on he pitch and at United.

If this was Pogba we would have 15 pages discussing his lack of professionalism, care for the club and the game

There are a few stories now to paint a picture of this guy as not being a very well balanced individual and while it right now it doesn't seem to impact his game, it very well might in the future. I'd still be interested in him as a club, but i would have serious concerns over his character. Are this just simple mistakes or is it in his "fabric" to be a problem player.

He is having a very good season so any 'off the field antics' dont seem to be affecting his performances.
Not that you can call being in a casino, on your weekend off because you're injured, 'antics'.
The press need to feck off, and anyone forming an opinon on somebody based on the newspapers needs to get a grip.

Lots of cold / flu going around in England right now. Best to keep sick people away from a big group.

going to a casino? If he’s there just for a laugh with some mates then who cares. As long as he isn’t addicted to gambling then nothing to worry about.

That's exactly what's happened to Maddison. Pogba gets it easy by comparison.
I don't know about that. He's also an accomplished player and a WC winner, Maddison is still a prospect. Not that i really care about it at this point, he's not even at United.

The DJ told him it was against all odds.
There was something in the air that night.

I was pleased when Leicester won the league but with the Thai orgy, betraying of friends to The Sun, selection of Robbie Savage, and casino antics of Vardy and Maddison they have to be the most scandalous club in football history.

Don't want to pay 100million for this type of player. But then again it could be only 1 night out.

What based on 1 story from 3-4 years ago?
Yeah if your mate beats a guy up cause the guy didn't know you, he's clearly a bit of a dick Not just picking on Maddison a lot of footballers are wankers, if I had that much money at a young age I would be a wanker too.

So Maddison is responsible for what his mates do?

I'd guess based on the fact he's a young footballer.

Generalising obviously but it's kinda true. Ego is going to run amok in most cases and not everybody grows up like Harry Kane.
This non story is the first of any kind of off field antics since Maddison has been at Leicester when he makes news for non football here it’s normally for slamming Clarkson or the sun on twitter or sending a kind who missed/had to leave the spurs win due to an asthma attack his boots

I wouldn’t pay that for him even if he was a well scrubs posh boy who goes to bed by 9.
We’ve bought plenty of overpriced limited players over the last six years, let’s stop doing that.

100m on this fella ffs.

I have to question how much you’ve actually seen of Maddison if you describe him as ‘limited’ .. he’s a superb footballer technically, capable of some brilliant things, and for a while now he’s done those things consistently. And also still very young for a midfielder .. so where does limited really come from?

100m is admittedly a lot, and yeah too much for him, but Leicester don’t need to sell, so..
