It's mainly about fitness conditioning and while he may be a "hard" worker staying behind to work on set pieces won't improve his cardio. There is no secret for that, it's about running, swimming, cycling and jumping ropes.
The only obvious limitation is for players with big frames and naturally muscular.
I know it won't improve his cardio I was indicating that he's a player with a strong work ethic to improve.

Ole is really trying to imitate Ferguson transfers.

James, Lonstaff, AWB, Maddison. They are all signings Ferguson would have made.
In Fergies last years yes. And most of them failed. It didn't matter though because we still had a team of worldies plus were able to nick the best players from other PL clubs.
If players like James, Longstaff, Maddison is all Ole can bring to us while losing players like Pogba he will fail miserably.

Fergie s biggest signing - Veron- didn't fare much better either

I’m not sure on that, there is a degree of natural ability in that surely?

He’s a really hard worker in training apparently. Always stays behind to work on his set pieces etc.
Lallana improved under Klopp isn't it.

Now renowned for his engine and ability to cover more grass than any other player on the pitch, it’s a far cry from the Lallana who was continuously substituted around the 60-70 minute mark during his days at Southampton and in the early part of his Liverpool career. The transformation, therefore, is also a result of hard work on the training field, bulking up his physique and improving fitness levels.

I find the British core obsession as ridiculous. We have a British core and what that served us? Absolutely nothing. Meanwhile Liverpool won the CL by fielding just 3 British first team players while Chelsea won the Europa league by fielding no British player. Good players should be signed regardless of nationality. This nationalistic mentality is as obsolete as the pub club mentality or long ball football.

I agree. I think it is more of an excuse as to our pulling power as a club right now. I personally don't care what nationality player we sign, they just need to be better than what we currently have and that shouldn't be too hard at all.

A very good player last season for Leicester. Hope he can improve us up front if he comes here. Would he fit in.

You're right about having to prioritise quality, but I think it's also a good idea to have a British core. Yes our current British core is shite but in the past it's what's inspired the foreign nationals with players such as Rooney, Scholes, Giggs, Carrick, Becks, Neville, Fletch etc. and they've obviously all been class too.

This is a really weird post, championing Chelsea for winning the Europa League but apparently our British core didnt do anything despite coming 2nd in the league the season before last and winning the Europa league themselves before that :houllier:

Lets see how long Liverpool and Chelsea's best foreign players want to stick around when Madrid and Barcelona come calling.

Surprised that so many people seem up for this at £60m. United and signing central slowish players who can't really beat men with consistency has never worked out.

The hell you talking about?

Dribbling and winning freekicks is one of the things he brings to the team

1.4 dribbles per game is the same as Bernardo Silva as well

Talented, but wouldn’t want him at the club. I have it on quite good authority that he is a scumbag and has some very unsavoury habits outside the football pitch.

Quality. Have not watched much of Leicester this season but he looks really classy on the ball as per the tube.

It was merely to illustrate the point that a player’s nationality is irrelevant, which it is.

so we should be dictating our transfer policy based on an inherent fear of the Spanish giants now? now, that is a really weird post.

It isnt. We have a history of having a British core and there are advantages in terms of a player wanting to spend their whole career here, instead of growing up dreaming of Madrid and Barcelona and then leaving us the moment they come calling.

So he was talking shit to someone else talking shit to him and his friend got into a fight.
It backs up what I’ve heard about an interaction with him, is he’s a little sorry ‘ard prick, with an extreme self-inflated ego.

Okay. But if thats the case I'd imagine there would be more than 1 story that can be backup up with evidence. Rather than 1 time shit talking someone shit talking him

There's several claims of him being an entitled tosser in that thread from different posters.

Edit: Having said that, none of this means that he wouldn't professional in training and on matchdays. Just means that outside of football he's a cnut, which I'd guess isn't unusual for a good portion of PL footballers.

Can you link them with evidence?
Nope, only anecdotal. But I personally don’t need a recording of him being a prick to not trust who told me originally. Sure, it may be confirmation bias, but I’d swerve based on that.

The telegraph article about him bragging about his wealth is from an incident in 2016 and the top stories in that reddit thread about him being a dick in a casino and nightclub are from when he was at Coventry who he also left in 2016.

So even if they are all true then it's three years ago and from when he was still a teenager.

Fair enough for you, but dont expect me to believe it. I'd much rather vilify someone when theres evidence to suggest wrongdoing, not just people saying stuff.
