He's got really good technique, not just a FK merchant as some are suggesting. Admittedly he's not the best physically but I still think he could be a good signing for us.
Nah. He’s the free-kick version to Milivojevic’s penalties. Not sure they do enough otherwise.

I swear to God, I think he did the same things against us. Check where Young makes the foul and where Ward-Prowse eventually hits the freekick from. Little twerp!!!

If you watch the footage it's the ref that stops on the spot where jwp ends up after being fouled. He then tells them to take it from there. It's wholly the refs fault.

He is a decent little player, he should have been picked up by a bigger club a lot earlier though to have made the most of his potential.

Nah, he needed game time which he'd never have got somewhere else. Good player but he's not top 4 material. One of the best kinds of players Southampton could produce actually as they'll probably get his best years and then flog him to a desperate Liverpool at 28 after a good season.

I dunno, I always thought he would go on to a solid addition to a challenging club.

This cnut always has a good set piece against us. Never against any of the other top teams. Always gotta be us.

Good mid table player but very inconsistent and streaky. Overall though, he's never really amounted to more than an average player following a-lot of hype when he was younger.
Guess it depends on your definition of average, I mean he shouldnt be at a top club, but he should never be at a championship club either... He's like, very good in the spectrum of footballers in which he operates in... If that makes sense?

His set pieces are his best attribute. Otherwise, he is as midtable as it gets. Good stamina though

Oh aye, when I say average all I mean is that he's suited to a mid table-ish club. He's obviously a vital player for Southampton.

He was talked about as a huge talent as a youngster though and he never really hit those heights.

A shame that he never got to the level that he could of. He's a good player but doesn't contribute enough to reach that top tier. Suits them well though and has a great relationship with Armstrong/Ings.

Yeah that's fair

As an aside I suppose it's funny we call any Premier League footballer average... Combined they're all like the 0.1% of best footballers in the country (plus Shokodran Mustafi...)

Yeah it's a strange one, I've often thought the same. When I'm saying average I'm generally saying a mid-table PL player. But obviously to make it to that level you have to be insanely talented. So it does seem disingenuous when context isn't properly applied.

Mustafi and Luiz tbf.

Agreed. Thought he was nailed on as a youngster. He’s playing at a good level though.

Superb dead ball specialist though

His dead ball delivery is absolutely exceptional. Other than than that he’s bang average though.
Crazy that he's already 25! I swear he jumped from 17 to mid 20s overnight.
It’s the opposite for me. Feels like he’s been around forever & should be in his early thirties by now..

I don't watch Southampton enough to know if he's actually good outside set-pieces. Is he?

Cnut.
He has definitely rediscovered his early promise. Had a couple of shaky years where he didn’t do much bar complement his colleagues but now he’s turned it up another notch.

Great on dead balls but otherwise just runs around fouling people.

Saw on replays recently that he had a good game on the last match I think against West ham.

He has scored on this one vs Tottenham aswell.

I'm not saying he is good but I want to know if anyone think he is or has watched him recently at all? Just had interest because I thought he might have some passing ability.

I think he's very good when playing under managers who like to implement a press. He was really good under Poch if I remember correctly and that's when he first burst on to the scene with early England call-ups. Then the appointments after Poch were not as great and he fell away too. I think under the current manager he's been good for them.

He's certainly better than what we have in midfield, and is very well suited to pressing teams. You can see how much he works off the ball to get tight to the opposition. I think he often makes the right passing decisions too, he's better than what people give credit for.
