Did alright as a sub. Think that would suit him. A sub / fresh legs to press / win the ball back. It was a nice strike too. But then again the opposition wasnt great either. But maybe this role suits him more than starting.

Decent cameo today. Added some extra energy that we needed imo. Doesn't mean he should be starting any time soon of course.

He is just Anderson in disguise isn't he? Not terrible, not brilliant, just not anything. Well at least we didn't pay some Portuguese club £30 million for his services

Injected a bit more intensity when we were starting to flag a bit. Did his job. Still maintain he’s a worthy part of the squad.

Finally ate something before the match and sent torpedo with proper power, could be a bit of Scholes-esque goal that effort.

Or loan him out. I mean what if he refuses to leave? I would side with him. Clubs cant expect to treat players like property. We gonna extend your contract not because you have done well. But so we can sell you for more money.
It’s a business at the end of the day. They don’t want to lose players on a free because that makes no sense.

Based on that shot on target he had, deserves an extension and a payrise. Massive player, who's still young and learning and will be crucial for us in the future.

Anderson could put in a killer pass, and could dominate a midfield once in a while. Much much better player Anderson. Comparing Lingard to Anderson is the equivalent of comparing Lukaku to RVP.

You don't need to pay 100k/wk for a player just to "inject some energy" against this League 1 team.

Injected some energy when he came on, ran about a lot and worked the keeper with a good strike from outside the box, probably should have done better with that chance when Greenwood played him in.

Jesse can score a killer goal, and can dominate the attack once in a (long) while. Ando is really not much much better.

Don’t know if you are kidding or being genuinely serious?

The guy has 2 years to run on his present deal and is on £100K a week. Has done nothing in the last 6 months to even have that contract extended nor be given a pay rise. Hasn’t scored a single league goal all year and not assisted a goal in 8 months! If we are dishing out long term contracts and pay rises like that then I might still have a chance of winning a deal and I am useless at playing football!

Also the guy is going to be 27 this year. How on Earth is that classed as “young”? Should be more as an experienced player. Played over 100 games and been capped a fair number of times for England.

You guys forgot the joy he gave us when he was Messi Lingard.

For that alone he deserves to stay here until retirement!

To be fair he was out of position, and we weren't exactly creating lots of chances for him. Can't blame him for our complete lack of depth.

I feel a bit like I'm living in the twilight zone. Lingard hasn't scored or assisted ONCE for almost a year and yet he's on the cover of FIFA. It's just proof that nowadays, is all about style over substance. We live in an era in which talk can get you in jail (anti Muslim or similar on Twitter for example) yet actual physical assault will be punished by community service.

Talking a good game is now more beneficial than playing a good game. Talk is more important than actions in this society

Anderson was a huge talent. He wasted most of that talent but could have been world class player. Lingard isnt very talented (compared to other player who start for clubs with titel ambitions) but played a lot for Manchester United and England.

Anderson has underachieved compared to his talent. Lingard already has overachieved. Talent wise he shouldnt be anywhere near a starting spot for Manchester United and England... yet he is.

Also i do disagree with him not being terrible. He is terrible.. and his stats are even worse than terrible.

Was his last goal against arsenal right? Hopefully he scores against arsenal this weekend and start banging more goals.

Looked far out of the place even against a League One side it's beyond funny now.

Got an assist but genuinely looked invisible for the rest of the game. Absolutely shocking player. He doesn't even have that good "movement" any more.
