You're being silly, his point stand completely. Jesse is a fantastic player off the ball, and it's not as if he's quasemodo on it either. He's popped up with some really important goals during his career, and is starting to come into his prime.

I have high hopes for him this year.

He has it in his locker. He just needs maturity and consistency.

3 Rashford goals from Pogba's long ball.
But will anyone notice Jesse's role in all 3 goals ?
    He intercepted Trippier's pass.
His pressure caused Leicester's defenders to lose possession.
He trackbacked to receive AWB's pass and pass the ball to Pogba.
"Mediocre player". Favored by big coaches like Van Gaal and Mourinho

I think people should separate his social media life from what he gives on the football pitch. If he has limited ability then so be it. If he gives his all with his limited ability, don't hate him for it. The blame then falls on the Glazers for not investing in midfielders with better ability. If on the other hand, Lingard's external activities interfere with his training and output on the pitch, then by all means call him out on it.

One could argue that his social media persona and his seeming attitude to have "made it" play a part in why he hasnt progressed at all in the years hes been in the first team. Running about like a headless chicken, anyone can do. But youre right, the fault does lay at the feet of those that continue to pick him over others.

Similar to Park or Sissoko on Spurs in that he generally plays well in tougher games and poorly when his team has lots of possession. It's why I thought a team like Bournemouth or Southampton might give us a big fee for him (that and the England caps prestige) and we could get someone in who can help us accumulate points against bad teams more consistently, which is probably the first step to winning our mini-league with Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea this season.

But Ole's system will suit him with his mobility and work-rate. He should start against Wolves but then probably sit for the game at home against Palace when Hodgson will park the bus, and where I'd be tempted to start Mata or even Gomes (won't happen) as the 10 and Greenwood out right.

You can't fault he's work rate and pressing game, he has the right attitude what Ole is looking for, but when it comes to technical ability we can do much better in the position he's playing in. On the right he always comes inside so we literally have no one there apart from AWB but then that will leave us open at the back and we will be caught out. As a #10 he can do a job but I'd rather play Mata there to be honest instead of him.

And and and remember that game against Chelsea or Arsenal at OT( i can't remember exactly) when he opened space with his clever movement on the right flank and forced full back to mark him so because of that there was a space for Rashford to pass to Pogba and then he passed to Martial who dribbled his player and passed the ball to Rashford again, who scored a goal. All because of Lingard.
You are right. His record in PL 15 goals and 15 assists in more than 100 games, does not tell the whole story.

Sorry, i am total prick regarding Lingard

Jesse Lingard is Man Utd through and through, he grew up in Manchester, he's been with the club since he was 7 and most importantly he plays for the jersey and cares for the club and I'll always be of the belief that unless Lingard wants to leave of his accord only then he should be sold. Of course there is alot of our fans who have consistently asked for him to be sold and they have they're reasons, his social media, his behavior which could be considered childish and even his dancing has older generations shaking their heads in disbelief as they wish for the likes of Roy Keane to return and change things back to the way they were.

Jesse Lingard as a player has still yet to be defined to one role or position and that in itself is a problem for any player and Lingard just can't get a level of consistency and become more familiar with a position and improve in it. Unfortunately I just think he hasn't excelled in any position or role he's played for us and that's down to him lacking in certain areas of his game or physically for certain positions. It can be safely said that Lingard won't reach that top level, world class level but as a squad player he is a great asset to team and also has the ability to be a matchwinner which is always a huge help in the big games where these type of players can decide where a trophy will be heading.

So if he is content as a rotation player which he seems to be from last season its out of the question to sell him. So sure he could have a brilliant season but I think that a brilliant season for him would be not to lose that RW spot as that is the position where he has his best chance of playing. If he could do that alone and chip in with a few goals and assists then fair play.

There are times when he's magical. Going past 2,3,4 players almost as if they're not there. If only we could see more of that.

People couldn't look at the word "facilitator" seriously ever again after Tom Cleverley was brandished one, no matter how decent and competent he was trying to keep things going. After all he didn't have an X factor, and that x-factor driven confidence, and the ball controls of Jesse. But when people don't feel too bummed about the word some day, they'll realize, thats all jesse is. But he is just way way way more useful even if he doesn't do spectacular things, simply because he has (minus for some very few games in tail end of last season) never needed to be useless when he was passive. Everything we feel about Ander being under utilized, technically applies to Jesse. Ander was probably a better number 10 than we ever allowed him to be. But the player we did use him as, was a very "keep it simple silly" footballer on the ball. He was also a bad ass off the ball and didn't mind throwing his body on the line for 50-50s, but the player he was used as with his ability on the ball, was very efficient, effective, and understood the amount of time he just had to spend with the ball, with reference to the people around him who should be doing way much more, like instinctively. I sincerely believe, Jesse is just as good, and has similar awareness of what his role and duty is.

And the best thing that can be said is, he will never be a liability for us to have to carry around. he is not a star. not on the pitch. nor will he demand insane wages ever, no matter what he does. To me, that is the very attractive to look at as a footballer who represents Manchester United. It may not be for many who spend as much time as he does on social media, to criticize him about how he carries himself, and how that must also be part of what he does as a footballer. But. no problem! he is a fine footballer, and am happy he'll have a good role for us over years. Hell will freeze over before Ole gives up on him. So all is good.

Big coaches who were sacked and are jobless (as managers) and according to most people past their best.

Don't try to hype his play. He has actually regressed over the years and currently is an average 4-5/10 player and is in the team because we don't really have good alternatives. His biggest attribute is hard work and speed (better than Mata) that compliments Rashford and Martial.

Stealing a living. A deer in headlights would have more vision and as for his finishing, embarrassing, zero composure whatsoever. Can't stand the cocky little fecker.

We could have signed one of Felix, Dybala, Eriksen, Fernandes, etc for the No.10 position, but it seems we are going to continue with Lingard the whole season. Gomes would have been better than Lingard, but he is not even in the bench.

It's a fecking disgrace that a player of his ability is getting starts. Has to be up their with the worst players in the league.

Absolute garbage footballer. Shouldn’t be anywhere near a premier league side let alone United. He offers absolutely nothing.

Fergie's comments about how he's a late developer have bought him far more time than his performances and talent have warranted.

Mata is still worse than him but we got no option and Ole doesn’t seem want to start Greenwood or Gomes at the moment.

I dislike him so much, and I'm so pre-inclined to judge him harshly that I have myself convinced that him playing with his socks rolled down tonight is a new "brand" move for him.

@haram didn’t he play in his favorite position tonight? Why was he so shit once again?

Not good enough, 2 half chances before they scored and he messed them both up. Liverpool or City players would have made something from those chances, he lacks quality and just having a good engine is not enough, that’s why we will be struggling again this year
