What a free kick that is.
What a free kick that is.![]()
Problem is the lack of physicality, Mainoo would be the most physical of the 3 and he's not really there yet. But I think Thwaites can be really good for us, he's the type of CM we need. Hopefully he can make that next stepWould like to see him in a midfield three with Mainoo and Kone - perhaps in a meaningless friendly rather than anything proper - but think it would be a balanced three.
Not sure why size is a concern?Reminds me of Ethan Galbraith. Size will be a concern, but EG is now getting rave reviews for Swansea. Hope we don't get rid of him too early.
Agreed. Hope he gets the chance Galbraith didn't. We need midfielders of this ilk. Well, players in general, really!Reminds me of Ethan Galbraith. Size will be a concern, but EG is now getting rave reviews for Swansea. Hope we don't get rid of him too early.
He was actually pretty good. They assess these lads on technique and physicality. Galbraith had really good technique so presumably the physicality side wasnt good enough. A lot of the lads who look the most technically gifted end up playing for lower league teams so it's important to stay objective.Galbraith never showed the skill, movement and potential of Thwaites.
That's good to hear. He was part of nice group of midfielders we had at the time with him, Garner and Levitt.Reminds me of Ethan Galbraith. Size will be a concern, but EG is now getting rave reviews for Swansea. Hope we don't get rid of him too early.
Yes, played vs Brackley Town in National league cup and Athletic club in PL international cup and a few more sub appearances. Still a U18s regular, U21s midfield is packed currently, so he being the youngest has to wait a bit.Has he featured for the U21s yet?
How did he look? If you know.Yes, played vs Brackley Town in National league cup and Athletic club in PL international cup and a few more sub appearances. Still a U18s regular, U21s midfield is packed currently, so he being the youngest has to wait a bit.
In the U21s? just as good as in the U18s, even with the increased physicality. He's just so technically gifted, good under pressure at receiving and turning, excellent range of passing (might legit be the 2nd best long range passer at club after Bruno). There are highlights of almost every game he's played this season on YouTube if you're interested. How did he look? If you know.
Very well deserved, been excellent so far and shown enough to get a debut later this season.
Reminds me of Ethan Galbraith. Size will be a concern, but EG is now getting rave reviews for Swansea. Hope we don't get rid of him too early.
But I believe thwaites plays deeper. The Pedri comparison actually isn't far off. Low centre of gravity, amazing little feints and body rolls to evade pressure, and he can hit a beautiful pass. Exciting talent, even more exciting name.

Definitely class above the likes of McTominay or Collyer though.
Oh I thought he played a 6, my mistake. He was playing on the wing last year I seem to remember. I think he's fairly versatile.
To have a better freekick taking would be great. From that I gather that he passes like Pirlo, dribbles like Iniesta and takes free kicks like Beckham.
Granted, there's every chance he'll be playing for Rotherham in three years' time, but I choose to believe otherwise.
I think they play him as a deep playmaking 6 now but I think he'll end up as an 8, think Eriksen as he got older. I don't know if he'll be strong enough to be a 6 but as a playmaking 8 he'll be fine. Maybe a more attack minded version of Wharton is a better comp. So the Pedri comparisons are spot onOh I thought he played a 6, my mistake.
I watched that game, he was probably United's stand out player. Made space for himself on lots of occasions, seemed to ride tackles well. He switches play very well, and stood up pretty well on the physical part of the game. How did he look? If you know.

I long gave up on Gore.Hey!
We’re not giving up on Gore just yet!.. right??
More talking about their youth displays. McTominay was just throwing himself around no9 and then being dropped to midfield, being totally unimpressive. Only to be the luckiest man in the world to "replace" Fellaini. Collyer didn't look any impressive technically rather being CB playing DM, than technical midfielder. But I dont watch regulrarly anymore, so what do I know.Really? Seems a bit early to say that.
If he turns out even as good as McTominay it would be a rarity and a clear success. Plus in line with my comment above, Collyer captained England at U16 and U17 levels, so clearly must have showed plenty at youth level, while Thwaites hasn't even had a single England youth cap yet.
