Yep he's got it. I'm excited for him and hope we develop him well.
Point being that in order to get game time, on merit rather than developmentally, the position he plays is more difficult than most others due to complex decisions and given his lack of physical advantage.
Even more so if he's 'deep lying playmaker' so has less active defensive responsibility and more output requirements and requires a defensive set up around him

Very odd thread this.
He just came off the bench for the first team at the same time as JJ Gabriel, and not a single word about how he did.
Instead, someone chooses to bump the thread with more carefully curated highlights of his from youth football, where across a full match he still seems to be a mixed bag.
Interestingly, I notice you seem to have mention of Mejbri in your tag - another youth CM whose huge hype I never quite understood.

I think in games where he's on the bench he'll probably slowly introduced by switching to a 433 as the creative 8. At least that's what I would do, I don't think he has the physicality yet to be in a double pivot. And with all of our new signings we should be able to switch schemes more often
Spot the person who only learnt who Thwaites was 48 hours ago.
We will have limited opportunities for these guys and should decide to prioritise where the minutes go in a focused way ie any spare at 6 go to Tyler F, any at 8 go to Thwaites and any at 10/RW go to Lacey.
As it stands, I personally wouldn’t want Jack F being picked over Thwaites or Lacey given how tough minutes are to come by, even though Jack F looks well-trained and capable and I fully expect him to get minutes above those two given how the coaches seem to view him. Unclear as to whether Devaney is viewed similarly yet.

A huge step up indeed but Thwaites passing is better than Galbraith's. Way better in my opinion.

I remember we used to say the same for Matthew James. "better passer than Darren Fletcher" so has to make it.
Cautiosly optimistic about him...but there's a long way to go for him yet before he's even near ready for the first team, which is expected given his age. Love his free kicks and overall set piece delivery too.

The problem with Matthew James was that he was a little too slow. And he actually had (and still has) a decent career. If not for all the injuries he suffered he'd be a legitimate premiere league player

Indeed. but many felt he was better than Fletcher, so was bound to make it(At United). He really looked good.
He was excellent. I also had high hopes for him and was disappointed when he was sold. Terrible luck with injuries. Missed the entire season when Leicester won the premiership.
Galbraith has worked his was up the leagues and having a pretty solid career. Just been bought by Stoke City for £10m

I don’t think he is considered part of the first team like Lacey will be but I think if there are games in the season when we might be in need of numbers they wouldn’t doubt his quality to contribute.
For this reason I don’t think he will be loaned out and will get games with the under 21s initially maybe until Christmas and they can reassess. Sure I’ve heard Carrick mention in the past they like to keep top tier talents in house if possible to unsure their education so to speak.

Luckhurst saying he's not going out on loan, but that his trajectory will be similar to the Fletchers, in and around the first team squad, while predominantly playing for the U21 presumably.

true and a tough pathway now. Been a few hyped up cm here james, galbraith, garner, gore etc.
As you say, big step up. I like what ive seen from thwaites above any of them personally though. May or may not make it, but his skill set technically against a press holding the ball, passing ability and range, free kicks....its really top level for me. Think that side cant fail to translate...whether he copes with the physicality, extra quality and speed of the mens game a different matter but i hope he gets opportunities here...as him, gabriel and lacey are all huge talents...all pretty small though physically, but only greenwood has looked better the last few seasons in our youth....surely one or two of them make it here
Gomes and garner both looked very promising...temember gomes cameo for mourinho, thought we have a player here.
Agree thwaites technicallt looks a step up though in his technical attributes, nut tough pathway and maybe not physically ready yet.
Personally though id like to see him stay, working with conditioning team, u21s and being around the main squad...oppprtunities there for him to be in squads and maybe minutes in cups, think he benefits motw from that than a loan.
If he gets chances in tge right situations, think he may be one tp take them. See him im similar brackwt to gabriel without the hype or age/contract fears. Not physically ready...3/4 players ahead of him....but he looks the real deal to me. If he has kuck with opportunities, injuries, has patience and is handled correctly...player on our hands....problem is we now have good cm, if he came 3/4seasons ago could see him thrown in like mainoo ans doing well
