JJ Gabriel

Yamal wanted to leave Barça, and his entourage pressured the club and Xavi to play him ASAP in order to sign the contract. At that time, he was more concerned about game time than about trophies.

If I were him, the club should play with my ego: “You will be the star that makes the club great again.” Otherwise, when I see the amount of time Rúben gives to youngsters, the first thing I would do is look for a new club.
I don't know where this myth is coming from. In 5 years, he has given 31 players their debuts - soon to be 32 with Lacey any time now - and many of them are starters for their clubs now. One of them is world class and one of the best players in the world (Nuno Mendes). He plays Ayden Heaven, Leny Yoro, Dorgu and Mainoo has featured in 10 out of 15 games this season. He is trying to win games, and he is fighting for his career here. He is not going to just play any random kid from the academy when we're desperate for a goal and sub him on for Mbeumo, Bruno or Casemiro. This isn't just about footballing talent either. He is trying to build a squad that has the right attitude, and understand and accept that the team comes first. We don't need more Garnacho's in the team, because it's inevitably going to affect the harmony in the squad. If an 18 year old is going to be annoyed with Amorim when he is allowed to train with the team, sit on the bench and just gain first team squad experience in general, then he has no place in the team, any way.

I agree to some extent that Mainoo could play more, but he hasn't exactly taken his chances really well, and he is slowing down our play a lot, and just being passive in general. In many of our games, we have also tried to defend the lead, and in theory then Ugarte will be the more logical choice to bring in for that, but it hasn't worked out in our favour. Mainoo is not better than Casemiro or Bruno, and should not start ahead of either of those two, and since we only play with two centre midfielders, he is going to have to make more of an impact when the opportunities present themselves to earn more of them. This isn't a charity, it's top level football where we're trying to win every game.

Time for him to shine… let’s give him some appearances of the bench. Need some more squad depth to cover for the AFCON players leaving.

He's too young. He can play in the FA Cup but we've got Brighton so doubt he'd make the squad.

One thing's for sure, if there isn't a pathway to the first team then he definitely won't be sticking around. He needs to see the likes of Chido, Lacey, and Mainoo getting game time otherwise what's the point in staying?

Or.. he could look at Yoro and Dorgu, and to a lesser extent Mainoo and Heaven, and realise if you're good enough you'll get minutes.

His old man tweeted and deleted some unsatisfactory things after the Amorim academy quotes dropped

11:36 onwards through to 20:30. Wayne also mentions JJ by name as it’s obviously relevant to his life.

Thanks for the link. It's wild now, a 12 year old with 2 million followers... that level of power and influence at that age is absolutely insane. How do you begin to deal with that? The fact I know JJ Gabriel by name and he can't legally drive (and he has a deal with Nike at 14 and 200k plus followers himself....)

Wild world to grow up in.

Immediately after the Amorim quotes came out last night his dad tweeted an emoji of a monkey covering its eyes. Deleted it and then tweeted this.

I'm tired of grown adults communicating cryptic messages through social media like teenagers. But safe to say I'm not feeling great about our prospects of keeping the lad if Amorim is still at the club next year.

You're going to take his dads side?

The days this club starts being dictated to by the father of a 15 year old academy prospect is the real time to worry. From what I've read personally, I have a bad feeling about his dad and I reckon they'll just be trouble for years to come. No matter the coach.

Relatives and hangers on posting cryptic shit on twitter is a gimp move. Say it with your chest if you've got something to say.

Whether Ruben is here long-term or not, I feel there's the potential of a possible circus around this kid and his family before he gets his eventual first team call up.

Edit.
Irrespective of his form or not, I think JJ Gabriel will feature at some point towards the end of the campaign.

Not taking his dad's side at all, I think he's a childish attention-seeker. Unfortunately he also has a massive influence on our biggest academy talent in years, so I'm worried.

he can't feature in the Prem this year, could potentially in the FA Cup

This one will cause us problems by the time he’s settled in the first team. There have been so many red flags already.

I just hope he can keep his head down. He's the most talented kid since you know who.

Will be difficult to manage the lad. I think ideally you put him in the U21s and give him some very limited minutes with the first team next season.

The problem with the bigger talents is once you give them their debut they don't like being told to continue their education in the academy.

Hopefully his dad is just playing the game knowing if he kicks up enough fuss they'll force our hand. Not sure it's best for the lad though.

He is looking for the best deal for his kid.
Nowadays if you are realky good, there are a lot of teams that will happily pay you money.
Mbappe started at 16. 17 won the world cup.
Then you have Jude /Halland /Sancho/ who all went their work way and are the best in the world now.
Then you have Vini, Endricj who got paid millions at 16.
Then you have Yamal.
Times are different.
His dad could be younger than you :)

You might be right, but why not try a bit positivity and be excited about a genuinely top-notch prospect coming through the ranks?

He literally can’t play in the PL this season.

Unless you think he’s going to star in the FA cup every round and bring us to the finals.

I can be excited about his talent but also be aware that theres far too much bullshit going on for someone so young. Not everything is polarised.

'This one will cause us problems' is a pretty pessimistic quote from one who is excited. I get it - this team has fecked us over repeatedly since Fergie, but still may as well be an optimist at the beginning of player's career (in my opinion, of course.)

Mbappe’s parents seem to be grounded when they managed him. Mbappe was a big name quite young, Madrid tried to poach him but were rejected. The reasoning was so Mbappe could develop as a player in his home country. The rest is history.

I was still excited about Garnacho and wanted to keep him despite the fact he and his close ones were utter bellends. I’m just aware of what impact people can have if they treat their ‘stars in the making’ as if they shit gold.

It’s a realistic take. It’s the sort of behaviour we’ve seen with young talents in our ranks post Fergie a few times. I’ll happily get excited (and have already done) about this guy if he keeps showing it as he progresses.

Fair enough.

Maybe stop posting nonsense here on a public forum after they already extended their stay with the club will help.

It's a forum and open for opinions. If you're worried his dad will read it and have a tantrum, maybe he shouldn't be so willing to stick his head above the parapet on socials so publicly.

Don't be worried. If he wants to kick up a fuss then there's plenty of other good footballers about. From what others have said in this thread (I don't follow social media) he seems to dream about Barca or Real. If any player isn't 100% about being here then I couldn't give two shits about them.

The guy has 5400 followers on X. Maybe we're just overreading things here because we're already on the fence with the fella.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.
