I wonder how he looks in training with the first team? He must surely see he's in the right place to develop (and that the jump up is massive and not to be rushed for the sake of it or taken lightly)
His dad has expressed that they are very happy at the club recently, particularly since Carrick came in. He’s praised Carrick for going to all of the matches and defended Carrick’s tactics from criticism recently, saying it was on the players. Previously, he had taken some not so subtle digs at Amorim (deservedly so). As it stands, he isn’t going anywhere. But things change fast in football.

Giuseppe Rossi is the best player I’ve seen in the unders this century. Ahead of Morrison, Greenwood and so forth; if it wasn’t for injuries at Villarreal, he was legit on to do big things at a big club.

If he stays fit, works hard and isn't someone who changes clubs every few years, he has the talent to become one of the very best.
Let's hope he has the attitude of Giggs (on the pitch only) and less of the Morrison.

You mean also including the extra football related stuff off the field to remain at the top level. He did a lot of Yoga, was known to be the ultimate pro in training and had a very good diet.
I'm not sure if he said that himself, but I believe that fixed his recurring hamstring injuries.

Seems a bit narcissistic. If the coach watches your kid in the u18s then he’s good and it’s the players fault, if he doesn’t watch JJ then he’s to blame for the first team performances? And what makes it worse is fans putting any weight on his opinion.
15 year old just loving his football and scoring goals and some posters are doing a full psychological analysis of his dad. I love this place.
A dad of an u18 player being pleased that the first team coach is going to watch him play is perfectly understandable.
A dad of an u18 player having a more favourable opinion of a first team coach that wins most his matches than a coach who lost or drew most of his matches is also entirely unsurprising.
It is not normal for a 15 year old to consistently be the best player on the pitch at U18 level. In most cases where an academy player is elevated to an older age group, it is because of their physical strengths. However, in JJ Gabriel's case, he is grabbing games by the scruff of the neck with his outstanding technical ability. It feels like every week I am seeing clips of him scoring another worldy!
I am so excited to see him in the first team next season. It would be quite the feat if he becomes the youngest ever United player to make a first time appearance. Hopefully it can be accomplished in the Carabou Cup 3rd round, or perhaps even in one of the early Premier League games if we're winning comfortably.

Yeah forgot how good Rossi was. I was very disappointed with how that turned out.
At the time it always feels inevitable but we know that even then most won't reach the top level. A long road ahead for this lad but it's exciting to watch.

Rossi was exciting but IMO was never going to make it at the top level. He looked good as a youngster but not nearly strong enough to be a first team regular. I know he scored a couple of goals here and there, but I saw him as no more likely to make it than someone like Chris Eagles.
Gabriel has some ability for sure, but obv he’s very young and needs to be managed well on and off the pitch. Looks like he has the talent, but application, mentality and many other factors will become apparent over the next couple of years.

Tbf to Rossi, not that many United academy players have gone on to get 300 games and 100 goals in the PL, La Liga, Serie A, UEFA cups and Italian national team.
He may not have reached the hights of Best, Giggs and Scholes, but there are some very huge talents who never did as well as he did.
Rossi was much, much more talented than Chris Eagles. If injuries didn’t ruin him he would have gone on to become a world class striker.
People forget Rossi was close to joining Barcelona in 2011. Personal terms were apparently agreed but the deal fell through because Villarreal wanted more guaranteed money rather than bonuses.
Juventus also tried to sign him but Villarreal wouldn't let him leave as they had just sold a lot of key players and needed him for their Champions League campaign.
Rossi was a great player in his prime before the injuries so I don't get @TrailMonkey likening him to Eagles.

He's literally one of the worst cases ever of a world class talent ruined by injuries.
He scored 32 goals in all comps for Villarreal in 2010-11 when he was 23. He was on the cusp of something big and then he tore his ACL twice in a season iirc.
He even came back from that to briefly do well for Fiorentina, before doing his ACL again. It's a really sad story but he was class.

Some of the biggest clubs wanted to sign him too, Barca and Juventus. He was having great season at Villarreal, it was like Forlan moment, leaving ManUtd for La Liga and having great season.

Right foot AND left foot. That's rare. He's at least on par with a young Ousmane Dembelé. But he already looks like a better finisher than he was at 19.
