come on vatoHe's not the smartest but seems to have a draw for good guests. I only listen once or month I'd say if the guest is a good one.
The Alex Honnold one recently was great. Joe kept asking him all these pseudo/bro-science questions about his diet and preparation for climbing and Alex had no interest. Then Joe mentioned 'peak alpha state' or some such nonsense and when Alex asked him what it was, he hadn't a clue.

I'm not following the channel, but I watched a few great interviews - James Hetfield, that guy from Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan, Mike Tyson, Bill Burr... Probably should subscribe. I'd like to see Dennis Rodman there.
It's true though, Joe Rogan is clearly not dumb. But yeah, he has tattoos and commentates on MMA so he must be.
I'm not saying he's an intellectual but he has a lot of knowledge on many subjects.
He has surface level knowledge of many subjects because he has the time to sit around all day. He's just an average guy.
He also has a lot of money, which is never a good thing.

I'm not a "fan" since I don't watch them all or even that much really, but I like watching clips that get recommended to me every now and then. The Louis Theroux and Henry Rollins ones were good, and also liked the Elon Musk one.
That's a bizarre comment. If you think the tattoos and the MMA is the reason people think he's not very intelligent, you haven't been paying attention very well.
It's 100% a factor for most people who think that. If he looked like Stephen Colbert he'd get a much easier pass.

But who the feck doesn't? that's some proper pothead stuff.Personally, I don't like him and have only listening to a handful of his interviews, but with what I have heard he seems to tap into a casual side of a lot of his guests which can sometimes lead to interesting, or at least mildly entertaining listening. You can decide for yourself what you agree or disagree with....or think is mental. I suppose that's part of the fun.
I actually only just watched Elon Musk's the other day. Did anyone find it seemed like he didn't know the answer to some things he should have because he probably delegates so much?
When he was asked how you even go about starting to build such tunnels, and he palmed it off like it was nothing I was thinking it's probably because he told some people to do it and they did. Obviously you'd expect that to an extent but it seemed like he should've known more about how a project like that even gets going on the construction side and he didn't.

I enjoy his podcast anytime I do take the take the time to listen, which is not many times because I don’t have 3 hours to kill for a poscast. But the guy had me interested long ago when he talked about DMT.
He constantly admits himself that he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
I listen for the guests, you can't argue he gets good quality guests.
I hate it when he tries to be funny and can't listen to the episodes where he just gets high with a friend. He also has some very right wing views and says "I'm the most left wing guy, but..." before he states them. Also, "it's entirely possible."

He's pretty easy to listen to and has a lot of decent guests on.
Although, he does have an annoying habit of driving the topic of conversation rather than letting his guests dictate. Particularly fecks me off when he goes on about nutrition/diet for ages.

at the notion that only smart people are rich. Even if that were true, just because you know how to be an entrepeneur doesn’t mean you aren’t thick as shit on a vaast number of areas. I like Rogan’s curiosity, and he is generally humble about the fact that he’s no expert. However, he’s clearly surrounding himself with people who prop up his world view on certain matters. Him being such a willing vehicle for the agendas of people like Milo, Shapiro, Peterson, Rubin, etc. also leaves a bad taste in my mouth. And for someone who purports to at least get certain basics about how one gets an informed world view and vets info, it’s strange to see how eagerly he props up people like Graham Hancock, who is championing theories in a field which he has no education, and who is laughed off by people who actually specialise in said field, just because he finds his musings on Atlantis and what have you interesting.
That guy was the biggest bullshitter I had ever seen.

Yeah I get the feeling he tries to hide how right wing he actually is . Sometimes he slips up and you know there's a lot more he would want to say but is to scared

I feel the quality of his show is entirely dependent on his guests. I liked listening to John Danaher, Derren Brown, Rhonda Patrick, Kyle Kulinski on it. The MMA shows/Fight Companions are not exactly thought-inspiring but easy listens and you can really learn stuff if someone like GSP is on. Joey Diaz stories about his upbringing/past are excellent.

I get the same feeling that he tries to hide it, the fact he has so many right-wing tool-boxes on the show is a bit of a giveaway though
I like Rogan, doesn't take himself too seriously and is a jack of many trades in terms of thought. More than most his critics. haha
Im not sure about how right wing Rogan actually is. I tend to think he's actually more bipartisan. He doesnt give two shits either way, he just wants good governance. His hatred of trump and pretty much the republican party as it is, isnt hidden.
I enjoy his podcasts but you can't take Joe ultra serious. His guests on the other hand are generally interesting characters. Generally insightful listening to his interview with Mike Baker regarding how the secret service works and generally discussion of that ilk. I wont say I agree with everything that Baker said, but he does raise some intelligent points.
Foremost, the United States cannot just walk out of these war zones they created. Part of their entire economy is built on these conflicts therefore not only do they leave a massive vacuum, but causes economic downturn.
