Dont know him, but he is an out and out striker, he is free and he has a pulse

Get him in.

Not really that simple though. He is not still unsigned due to a lack of interest but more as a result of having a lot of offers on the table and so having the luxury of picking and choosing which he feels is the best fit. For us, it is not a good sign that he has a noted antipathy towards the PL, preferring continental football but then it is also fair to say he that if we are signing Cunha and Mbuemo he is not a terribly good fit as he is not a target man and so would take up space on the pitch that the 10's want to operate in.

Striker is the most important buy this window, so we should probably not compromise on it.

Is he a compromise?

He looks a good player with a nose for goal to me. Stellar scoring record with 7 in 10 CL appearances this season.

My personal preference would be get Mbuemo done then go all out for Gyokeres then do what we can in other positions as sales happen in the window. However if we chose to sign this lad then put all of the money from sales towards a keeper and a midfielder then that would also make me excited for the new season.

Mbuemo and Gyokeres would be the correct approach imo. We simply can't compromise on the most important problem we've had (goals). David would be an austerity buy grounded in a misguided belief that we have to compromise by replacing the players we really want with cheaper 2nd and 3rd choices because we don't have the funds.

Thats bound to be fairly strange from a north american footballer - surely premier league is the dream.

I do hope the scouts/wilcox have more criteria than i did for him.

Id rather wait and go for someone who suits what we are trying to build, rather than doing the equivalent of a FM search for “Fwd” and “Out of Contract”.

He did an interview with Neville and Rebecca Lowe and said that he grew up watching La Liga and that would be his ideal but in general he prefers the other European leagues, he was polite about it but essentially said that he does not enjoy the PL.

Just because he is free, we shouldn't automatically sign him. Doesn't suit the league and our style.
