I think the craziness is not that he’s the last one but the fact that in all those seasons over the last 50+ seasons, there hasn’t been one that didn’t feature a player who has played for Fergie.
Unless I’ve misread it…

I think you've misread it.

in 1973 my dad was 16 and Im now nearly 40.

To think that huge time length has a common denominator in players that played under Fergie for United is indeed incredible. Incidentally... who was the player that played in 1973 that also played in 1985/6 for Fergie?

Well if there was a player that played in the team from 1974-1986, then I guess it would be a crazy, but true stat. If that’s not the case, then the whole thing doesn’t make sense

Arthur Albiston was there in 1974 and didn't leave until 1988.

He retiring according to Andy Mitten.
I recall him saying had he not got the extension last summer that was the most likely outcome then so a year on and after being out all of the second half of the season really, it probably make sense.

One of the things that annoys me the most about the Van Gaal era was selling Evans. He should of been a mainstay. We didn't sign any CB better than him for about 9 years. A great player and by all accounts a great guy as well.

I've got a lot of time for Johnny. Great pro, good footballer. I was a bit disappointed we sold him when we did as he still had more to contribute, but glad we got him back for a swansong

Would've been a great sendoff if the header against Villa went in.

He spelled Norn Iron wrong.

Brilliant player Evans, top pro, great organiser at the back. It were him that made Harry look like an 80m pound player for half a season at Leicester.

It's a shame he left but I do remember being a bit fed up of him at the time.

Memory might not be perfect but he was injured a lot, his form was really poor, at times he was coming across a bit weak in the pitch.

Strange one really given he went on to have a really good career and at 36 still looked good.

I think the crowds got to him a bit,and obviously his coach wasn't good enough to help him feel supported with it so it was probably the right time to leave when he did sadly. If Fergie had still been there there's no way he'd have gone though, he needed more protection.
