I think you just implied Arse are a top club?
I'll have you know we are one of the founding clubs of the prestigious ESL. We're litteraly on par with the likes of Real Madrid, Man City and Man United.

It's so fitting that probably his last stint at a top club comes to an end, overshadowed by much bigger news as he fades into the background, much like his career has ended up doing.

This is Levy trying to keep Kane and nothing more.
Kane was a big supporter of Jose according to the athletic article.

He would have ran through walls for him.

It's simply the results and Jose alienating others in the club.

How's that for 'football heritage' you washed up clown. Getting sacked by Spurs, does it get any worse than that? He really needs to go to Arsenal next to complete his transformation to the specialist in failure.

Can’t revel in his failures anymore. He’s done a lot for the game in this country, he’s unfortunately washed up in terms of tactics and he can’t convince enough of the modern players to play his way. But he’s been a superstar in the world game.

It’s no surprise players like Kane and Son were willing to run through brick walls for him. Hopefully we hear from him in a more regular media capacity from now on.

Shame to see him continue to decline, but the way he works just doesn't work anymore. I'd expect he will struggle to find another big club for a while now.

Wolves felt like an inevitability to me and I think it’s always been the plan, whether it will happen now is another question but they play a similar brand of boring football and I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve been shaping the club in preparation for him at some point.

Watch him take up Juventus or AC Milan for the ESL. He's the type that never flushes.

Think Levy probably saw a deflated camp before a cup final and is looking for a bounce similar to the one experienced at United when we lanced the Mourinho boil.

Sorry I couldn't keep up with this thread. But what is the main reason for his dismissal just a week before the cup final? Did he really get sacked for going against Levy because he is against the ESL?

You mean Jose of old would have won our recent match with them, had he been able to spend 800 million on the world's best defenders like the Jose of old used to do.
you can't deny that during his first term at Chelsea he was a good manager, well, I suppose you can...

Arsenal wouldn't want him. While they're struggling and underperforming, their ambition is to close the gap between them and the elite sides. 2021 Jose Mourinho isn't the man to help them do that.

No team in the ESL top 15 would want him at this point. He's got to go down a level or turn to international football.

Good, but not great. He spent triple his next nearest spender (net and gross) while joining a league in which the only challengers were both undergoing a transition. He failed to reach a single champions League final and somehow got eliminated 2 times in 3 years by Rafa Benítez who didn't have anywhere near the resources that Mourinho did.

As @Champagne Football points out, if he was able to spent as much as he did then, relative to the other clubs, he might still be a success. But unfortunately for him, he's got to do so without outspending everyone by that margin. And he's struggling.

Fell out with too many players to make it tenable to continue I'd imagine, thought he would make end of season but Levy is known for pulling the trigger. Had Spurs going well start of the season, but Jose being Jose he eventually rubbed too many of the squad the wrong way.

Mason as the caretaker until end of season, then anyone's guess, Scotty Parker, Benitez, Allegri, Nagelsmann, Rodgers, Ten Hag?

Levy will want an attacking coach that will work to bring youth players through. So Pochettino v2.0.

Would be an interesting shout, former player and Spurs fan, attacking football with an eye for a tight fitting suit only down side is his lack of experience.

Why? It's great to see him decline and become the joke he is. He is everything that young Jose mocked and disrespected. Mocked 2nd position, not able to win trophies and many more and he was all that in the last 7-10 years.

It's been coming obviously but I really did think they'd let him play that final as that was he brought in to do, win trophies and then he'd be gone at the end of the season unless they miraculously made top 4. It was such odd timing, but he's only got himself to blame really. I'm sure his ego will be hurting at not getting the chance to at least walk out with a trophy. But yeah real bizarre timing, why not do it weeks ago and try to salvage the season? Are they looking for a new manager bounce for the final? Are they really going to get that from a 28 year old caretaker manager?

I think Mason was chosen cause he is well liked in the club and from what I hear is much more open to give the players freedom on the pitch.

John Giles was saying they sacked him now because if he won the Carabao cup then they could not justify in sacking him. They would have had to keep him.

Mourinho and his team will love this line being trotted out about him taking a stance against the Super League. That glosses over another unmitigated failure in his career and might be enough of a deflection to land him one last job.

I really can't see him getting anywhere near a top club this time though. I was surprised Spurs went near him when they did and even they were a rung below the level of club he would usually manage.

I guess I can see that, although it didn't stop our owners with Van Gaal so I'm not sure it really holds water. It looks worse if you do it for sure though.

Yeah, that will be it. I imagine there's either a feeling of apathy or toxicity around the club, possibly both, neither of which are ideal heading into a cup final.

Portugal next?

can't see another PL club risking it
Would be best for him. Would be closest to his Porto days where he wouldn’t have a large budget and literally can’t blame transfers on failure. Of course his problem is deeper because ever since the Porto days he had this complex which was grander than the one that got him success then.

one of the many managers in football who need a manager of his own. But we all know if he reached anything close to his peak again football would be way more exciting. A defensive, counter attacking well drilled side to combat the klopps, peps, and also the “modern” football approaches makes the game more interesting imo.

Agreed. He failed to evolve with the game but a Jose Mourinho in prime was a pain in the arse.

I really belived that he was willing to change his ways when he hired new coaches for his coaching team but I guess that wasn't the case.

Wouldn't be surprised if he staged some sort of protest against the ESL, knowing full well he'd get sack but also knowing that there would be people praising him for standing up to a hugely unpopular move.

He gets to end the misery by feeding his ego. Perfect.
