Yeah why not? Look at the timing - why else sack right before a final at the weekend? The SL announcement last night and Jose gone the next morning. You have to assume there is a link.
+ Jose is a cup final specialist. Makes 0 sense that the club decided now is the perfect time to call it a day.

Only link is Levy thought ESL news will dominate everything and Spurs won't get much attention.

He refused to take his players out for training. Regardless of what people think of him have to respect him for doing what I doubt Ole, Pep, Klopp, Etc etc will have the front to do.

I'm far from a Jose fan, but if this is what I think it is then I've massive respect for the man! He's not having this super league bull and if ole, klop, pep et all have any self respect they'll all be gone before lunch time too.

You have to be incredibly naive to think he walked because of ESL.

Qualifying Spurs for the Super League was the greatest achievement of his career.

Perfect oppurtunity for him to kick up a stink and get sacked, he can now blame the ESL rather that him being a terrible manager for them.

I've come to the conclusion that the football billionaires are bored to tears with just reading about Covid and vaccinations, and want us to have some entertainment to distract us.

The twitter account I've seen credited with that are the same one who said Newcastle are joining the Super League so I'd take it with a pinch of salt.

Just wait till the transfer window when the SL-clubs will go crazy to get the fans back onboard.

Mourinho, the wily old fox, without a shadow of a doubt used the Super League nonsense to his advantage here and constructed his own dismissal. Reputation saved in the eyes of the fans around the world and another bumper pay-off.

You couldn’t be up to him!

He was 100% going this summer anyway - but the timing of this must be linked to SL in some way surely
Probably are comfortable with the knowledge that they have the financial stability now sorted, and a chance to win with a new manager bounce is higher than with him there in your current form anyway.

Still, anyone falling for believing he is some kind of moral.champion that opposes the SL is ridiculously naive.

Does seem rather opportunistic doesn't it? He gets to deflect from the poor results, knowing he would likely have been sacked within the next year anyway.

Whilst it was quite enjoyable to watch his inadequacy highlighted in a way that does not effect us.

I would like to congratulate Spurs fans on what must surely be one of the happiest experiences a fan could ever feel. That miserable, past it, outdated idiot getting sacked from your club almost feels like winning a trophy.

Incredible people actually thinking this is because he's opposed to the super League

This is a person who never cared about any club legacy, and has trashed most clubs he been at.

It's mental the mental gymnastics people jump through when it comes to Jose.

I am happy he is gone but not happy with the timing of it. All very very odd.

The tweet that said it was because of the ESL has now been deleted.

I highly doubt it was because of that and some made up rumour that he refused to take the players to training

He knows he hasn't been doing great at spurs, so it would be quite self serving because maybe he realises it would get a lot of people to respect him for it.

Also as a famous "shrewd operator" why on earth did Levy give him a contract with such a large payout for early dismissal?

I hate his guts but if he did take a stand against the ESL and got fired for that (as the final straw on top of everything else), I have some respect for that.
