That's a different point, Ancelotti's prime didn't last more than 8 years, it was in the middle of the 2000s and since then he has steadily declined. And yes Mourinho's decline is chaotic but that's not the point.
Ancelotti between 2002 and 2015. 13yrs

I’m saying his longevity is being underrated.
But I'm not underrating it, I see his longevity as excellent, you disagreed with the period that it represents. But that's besides the point anyway, 8-10 years is a lot of time in football most managers don't have that at their top and the list isn't actually that long.

Ancelotti like SAF is a man manager. Main strength is picking and motivating the right players to perform and develop. When SAF needed to he left the tactical decision to specialists like Queroz. He didn't really adapt to the modern game as such, I don't think there are any mangers that really do. All the top dogs seem to stay sharp for about 10 years before they taper off. I suppose managing like Ferguson gives you more longevity, but it is also harder to become really successful when you don't always have that fine tactical edge to rely on. So guys like him are rare.
Ancelotti is quite good tactically to add on top of his management, so was Ferguson. He managed teams with different styles and adapted different formations, from the christmas tree at Milan to the 4-3-3 at Madrid to get the best out of what he had. He probably got the best out of di Maria by turning him from an erratic winger to a creative midfielder on their way to the champions league in 2014. He was unplayable on the day.

Forgetting the pressure side, that is what he needed to do at our club. I thought at the time if he can adapt to our club ethos and embrace our traditions and adapt to us, he really will prove himself as one of the best managers of all time......he didnt. He did exactly what I feared he would do and that was try to get us to adapt to his way.

He was a brilliant manager up until his spell in Madrid where he didnt actually do badly. But he didnt adapt to the Madrid way, he had a powerful dressing room and for the first time didnt have the players full respect, trust and belief, he lost them after that first season. That is why he needed to adapt to us and not make the same mistake.....its the same mistake he has repeated again and again and again and got more bitter and stubborn every single season which I dont understand as he is an intelligent and charming personality, but the pure arrogance and stubborness that his way his timeless was just wrong. I didnt even think he would last a season at SPurs tbh as that is a club that has demanded an attacking style of football even more than ourselves
He did not do badly in Madrid? He won 1 league title and 1 cup in 4 years. Thats it. Ane he failed to deliver the La decima which he was brought in for.
Madrid was the last great team he had. Inter, Chelsea and Madrid were all filled with excellent players. HIs style worked then.
After that there was always going to be a decline in quality of teams he had as he kept getting sacked from everywhere.
He is not getting a big job from Barca or Madrid or any of the big six teams.
He should try working in Italy again and try and bring AM milan back to glory to restore his reputation.

Oh if only they were doing that stupid Amazon documentary.

And also what kind of set up is he allowed to stay there for 4 hours ripping everyone to pieces?? Every job Ive ever been in where someone has been fired they have been escorted out under the radar so theres no chance they can do any damage to people or property.

Yes but to be fair, in those four years he was up against arguably the best club side in football history. I know the demands of Madrid his time can be seen as a failure and the reception he got for his attitude whilst there along with that, it was. Personally to win a league during this period I think was a big achievement.

I also disagree tht all the sdes he managed up until Madrid were filled with great players. Porto he made several fantastic signings, Chelsea he made a lot of signings, a lot of which didnt work but lets not forget he signed Cech, Cole, Carvalho, Essien, Robben, Drogba who along with the British cornerstone of the side he inherited really formed the spine of that side which was a dominant one. At Inter he also signed Lucio, Sneider and Milito who were absolutely huge in the champions league winning season. He did also sign Varane and Modric at Real who are still there nearly a decade later.

He certainly wasnt perfect up until that point, he had at most of those clubs a lot of money to spend and he made a lot of failed transfers as well as successful ones....but he did make some hugely successful signings for all of those clubs and up until Madrid he had the full backing of his sides and great tactical acumen.

I also personally dont think he should go back to Italy as like he has here, doing so he would tarnish his reputation as he simply isnt the same manager anymore. I think he should go back to Portugal myself.

There was no chance of this happening. Jose works in a specific way. It is confrontational and noisy and defense minded. Woodward should have known and predicted what would happen. But being a useless git that he is, he made random managerial signings with no idea on what should be our club's values or game style.
Yes was always highly unlikely to happen. Mourinho is a very intelligent man and I thought there was a chance that with this he would know what was needed. Sadly his stubborn and arrogant turned bristly attitude was bigger than the intelligence.

I was against the appointment personally.....but at the time, there really were not many options at all. Our timing of looking for new managers seems to have been really bad since we got rid of Moyes, some great managers have been available at the wrong times and vice versa it feels like to me. I did think there was a chance Van Gaal would do well though at the time, he really was the only one I had any faith in at all and that didnt go well either

Inter shown no interest and preferred to hire Conte who is a former legend as a player to Juve. I dont think his market at Italy is favorable either.
AC Milan perhaps. They could easily not make top 4 now so that probably means the end for Pioli given they wanted to replace him with Ragnick last summer. Zlatan would probably stick around another year with Mourinho coming in.

AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are the only really major jobs in the top leagues I could see him managing in next 5 years so either waiting for one of those or going to national team or China/middle east.

Edit: Would guess Talksport have signed him up as pundit for the euros given he was on Russia Today regularly during last world cup.

Neither will hire him. Milan owner wants attacking football and exchanging Simeone for Mourinho is not really an upgrade.

Being a rent-a-gob on Talksport.

The fall from grace is complete.
Be amazing if this was his Phoenix rebirth moment. Goes back to Porto and wins the CL again. Most likely will go manage Portugal or something.

You might be right. He'll bump into Adrian Durham in the office and think; "Sharing lunch and small talk with this prick. It can't end like this..."

Cue Rocky montage

Can't believe how bad Brazil looks in that photo, incredible he's still alive and kicking with that weight and clear blood pressure issue.
he actually died about a decade ago. just before his death he had consumed so much cholesterol that it became sentient. what you’re seeing now is a ball of cholesterol, wearing an alan brazil suit. it is still learning the ways of our culture and how to speak properly, which goes some way to explain his garbled ranting on talksport.

Jose robbed of his compensation

Makes we wish there was an uncut football show where pundits said what they actually think...

The bland rubbish they spout normally isn't worth listening to.
