I'm cautiously optimistic about Mourinho at Spurs so far (obviously, being top of the league). You can talk about shots drying up since the West Ham debacle but on the other side of the equation we've conceded 1 goal in 5 games since, even with Dier replacing Sanchez and Rondon slotting in for Alderweireld. Our squad might be well suited to Mourinho's safety first tactic against teams like City and Chelsea because we have two of the most lethal finishers in the league up front who can reliably take that one chance in the match to score. But we'll see.
Re: his stint at Man Utd, it seemed to work on the pitch until relationships with players, the board, fans and the media broke down down off the pitch, with blame on both sides. I don't see the same pressures encouraging Mourinho's worst instincts at Spurs, where expectations are lower and everyone at the club is desperate for trophies at any cost. Kane, Son, Lloris etc. will run through brick walls if it guarantees an FA Cup, and in the doc Levy as chairman seemed like a good fit for Jose even if he can't expect the same level of financial backing - the transfer window this summer looks to have been a success. The atmosphere seems more akin to Chelsea 2005 where Mourinho had a squad of underdogs hungry to break into the elite.
Will we win the league? Probably not. Europa League commitments make it very difficult, plus Liverpool still look invincible at home. Maybe if we somehow won at Anfield in a few weeks time I'll consider the possibility. But the goal this season is top four and a trophy, which seems achievable. Then if that goal is met build on it next year with a proper title challenge.
