Does anyone know why neither King nor James was involved in yesterday's match?

Neither played. Weren't on the bench either.

De Laet played, if that's any consolation.

Probably isn't.

Joshua's still injured, about a week away from fitness apparently. Matty seems to have lost out because Preston now have more loanees than they're allowed to include in their matchday squads, and Fergie Jr seems to be preferring experienced players with his job on the line (plus Matty's form hasn't been great since he came back from injury).

Excellent news! I'd almost forgotten about King given how long he's been out for (repeatedly!). After watching Welbeck take centre stage at Sunderland, it's easy to forget just what an enormous talent King is.

What our practise on this in earlier cases? Have we had players out on loan in clubs that have kicked their managers before?

Manchester United have recalled duo Ritchie de Laet and Josh King from their loan spells at Preston North End just a day after Darren Ferguson, son of Red Devils’ manager Sir Alex Ferguson, was sacked as the Lilywhites’ manager.

Both defender De Laet and midfielder King have returned immediately to the Premier League side. United have indicated they want Matty James, also on loan at Deepdale, to return to Old Trafford.

Preston chairman Maurice Lindsay admitted the sudden recall came as a shock but admitted United were well within their rights to recall De Laet and King, although the situation with James is slightly different.

Lindsay told North End’s official website: “That has come as a bit of a shock to us and it’s a bit of a blow.

“Ritchie and Josh won’t now be available on Saturday.

“We got a message from Manchester United that they have been summoned back immediately.

“Under the terms of the loan agreement they can do that, we recognise United’s legal right to do that.

“They would like Matty James back as well, but his contract is a bit different.”

Come as a shock? :houllier: What else did they think was going to happen? James will come back too, and hopefully King/James/de Laet will go on loan to another side...

I think its a shame frankly, but with no guarantees that the new manager would play them then I suppose its for the best that they return.

The players didnt want to play for Preston after Fergie jr. was sacked
Either it was the change in manager, or they didnt like the squad but didnt have the balls to say anything till Fergie jr was at the club.

Anyway, they didnt want to play for preston after the sacking of darren ferguson
Hope they find a good club in the coming weeks

Don't know if this is the right place to post it but there are rumours that Joshua King is headed for a loan move to Molde FK. No web pages or anything like that, but Molde FK is not exactly the CIA - things from that camp never stay secret even if they are supposed too. I have no idea if it is true or false though.
