Joshua Zirkzee | 2026/27 Performances

Funniest thing is the supporters that want Zirkzee out assumes that fans who want to keep him are directly stopping his sale.

United CEO's don't care what fans think when it comes to players. Whether we enjoy players or not is a personal issue and has no correlation with the decision the club makes.

Biggest example is Rashford, most fans don't want him back & in an ideal scenario CEO's would just pay off his contract but they ultimately don't care what fans think and they will go for the cheaper option.

Zirkzee will have poor games when the fans who don't rate him will clique up like the cool guys in school that are now on job seekers acting like they were intelligent for what they saw before the season began.

CEO's are not bloody reading half the caf saying they enjoying Zirkzee playing football whilst the other don't & trying to cancel a loan deal to keep half the CAF happy.

That's just plain stupidity.

Then there's people who seem to think a loan is the same as selling players when we have no idea if there's an obligation to buy. They just believe everything Romano & co say when these people have constantly gotten things wrong for multiple clubs.

I'm all for saying players are not good enough, but people can enjoy & value players others don't.

For example I value Dalot whilst ever manager has used him as first name on the teamsheet aswell; yet he is one of the most hated players by United fans - yet they want to recruit 3 midfielder, LB, a back up ST, a New CB and a LW well before Dalot :lol:

Has he really been THAT much worse than Savinho or Marmoush?

I know they are all different players but surely we should be able to get less than half the price.

Just seen the fee's involved, absolutely ridiculous. Surely they're up to something dodgy there? Only way we get a fee like that for Zirkzee is if we can also find a team that's interested in some shady business too.

It's baffling, apparently clubs are fighting over Liam Delap for £40m too

Do I find it strange how easily the two most historically dodgy clubs in the league manage to sell dross for these fees? I certainly wouldn't say it's not strange.

Like the people saying that he isn't moving because he doesn't have any offers!

There's a very good possibility that Carrick actually wants to keep him instead considering the type of football Carrick likes to play could utilise a player like him in comparison to someone who is like Mateta.

Plenty of clubs would have taken him on loan so dome people will say that no one wants him & some people will say that Carrick wants to keep him.

No different with the fan base. Some don't want him & some want to keep him:D

Carrick barely played him last season? Doesn’t seem to be a player he likes.

Perhaps we’ve taken a stance of no loans. That hasn’t exactly done us many favours over the past few years.

We’ve got to take a stance sooner rather than later. It’s ridiculous how we’ve allowed clubs and players to take the piss over the last few years. Now that we’re not handing out insane wages we should be in a better position to negotiate properly
 
This is exactly why he should have been sold or loaned already, Cunha gets picked ahead of him, Sesko hasn’t played all preseason and still ahead of him.

The idea we should keep him as an extra body makes no sense and he just needs to be out the door.
 
We can’t have any intention of keeping him. If we do then today will have totally ruined his confidence and trust in Carrick.

Crazy he’s been our number 9 all pre season then we start the season and he’s got no minutes. Despite not having a 9…
 
I'd have started him with Diallo was out and so Mbeumo wasn't playing up top.

You can only assume he's on his way out.
 
If Sesko isn't fit enough to start I'd prefer him to play as a false nine and have Cunha and whoever is on the right bomb forward.

if he isn’t sold I’d give him a few starts as a 10 until Bruno finds back to his old form

This squad does have 8 CL games to contend with, and as things stand, I’d seriously bet that it’ll only be 8 and no more. If we sell any depth we have, this injury prone ageing defence has no chance and relying on another injury prone striker and Rashford is honestly hilarious.

Correct, as poor as Zirkzee has been, Cunha up top has been worse and looked good towards the end of last year hugging the left wing and cutting inside.
 
The only more mental thing than not buying a backup for Sesko, would be to sell Zirkzee and not bring in a backup for Sesko.

In that context, I'm glad we kept him for now.

I see Mbuemo and maybe Cunha as competition for Sesko rather than Zirkzee. For me Mbuemo looked better up top last season than on the wing and was more effective than Zirkzee has ever been. Having Sesko as a big man, Mbuemo as competition and Cunha as a potential false 9 option if we want to do that in games like vs Ipswich is fine for the season. I'd rather Zirkzee was sold and we start to give Lacey some minutes coming on for Amad on the right with Mbuemo playing more up top than have Zirkzee around.
 
Not getting rid of him and getting an experienced striker in is going to be an even bigger issue than the LB situation is my guess

I agree. We would have to bet on Mbeumo or Cunha which is not enough.
A proper club would have sold him and pushed for someone like Watkins

But neither of those issues would be as big a disaster as selling him to Everton and not replacing him. So I’m glad that deal fell through. He was excellent in preseason so could have a role to play with so many games for us this season. One last chance for him. Let’s see how he goes.

Last season was only a half season under Carrick. When every match was against PL opposition and every result desperately important. Different scenario now. We’ll know for sure what Carrick makes of him at the end of this season. His preseason performances will have definitely helped his case.

This is one of the issues we have, and this is where a DoF is so important.

You say, he’s only had 6 months under Carrick (true), but he’s been here two years, and now been good enough. It’s not just for 6 months.

Every time we change the manager, too many players are ‘getting a clean slate’.

Yeah that’s true. It’s also why we seem to only ever try and sell players after their value has completely tanked.

Don’t we have many young attackers? Lacey, Musa, Ibragimov, Thompson, Gabriel, Missin… any of those could be tried off the bench on occasion
