I think there is too much noise about this not being true, but then I come to my senses and think how the feck are Liverpool going to pay £120m for him?

I am in. This would be an absolute incredible signing. The kid is the real deal. With Haaland we just were in a bad position. After this season we should be in a good position. We can do it
Absolutely man, would be an incredible signing.

Early days but......CHOO CHOO.
Get on the train early bro, let's get this momentum going

They paid silly money on Nunez, but they're not going to get Bellingham if they're not in the Champions League.

I don't think he's the type of player we need right now.
For ETH's style, I think a midfield player that controls the pace of the game, like a FDJ, is more important, but Eriksen can do that job for now, and Bellingham looks like a top talent.

I thought people were tired of Dortmund players and them flaming out once they leave that team?

I think Bellingham has benefited as much from walking an almost perfectly scripted career path as he has from being some sort of never been seem before talent. With the right choices made, I don’t think he’s necessarily in a better place than Hannibal or Mainoo by the time they are all 24. I don’t think he’s more talented than Hannibal, as mad as that sounds due to where they both are respectively, but football isn’t as straightforward as that. Environments make all the difference, and Bellingham’s have been perfect for the past 3 years.

Don’t want him. Modern football has specialised players in midfield now. If we had him in our team do we drop Casemiro? No. Has he got the passing range and ability to dictate play from deep like Eriksen? No and even if he had it’s a disciplined role that takes away a lot of what Jude is good at. He isn’t a 10 so that’s dead in the water. You kind of see how muted he is for England when he has those specialists around him
I have a feeling we would be talking about getting the proper midfielder in to get the best out of him ala Pogba if he joined us.

They need 3-4 new first teamers. So do we.

I can only see him going to City or Real.

The WC will confirm whether he really is the real deal or not.
So far he definitely does look like the kind of player we need.

Before this season I would have said no, but with Casemiro and Eriksen/Fred it could work. I still think number nine is more important at the moment.

You will take some heat for this, but I agree. Like sure, he is a really good young player. But facts are that most really good young players don’t cost 100m. Halland was unique, Bellingham isn’t unique.

Feckin Grealish went for 100m. Going by that, Dortmund's valuation seems appropriate.

A physically dominant midfielder at 19 who can dribble, tackle and finish at a high level, that's pretty unique to me.

Camavinga and Tchouameni were the wonderkids of the past couple of years, with similar rave reviews and expectations as Bellingham. They went for about £100m combined. I've got nothing against Bellingham, but I think the fee includes an English tax, as there is an expectation that all the top six premier league clubs will want to bring him back to England.

We have one in our academy who is 17.
we are no longer desperate in the middle of the park. Loads of experience and decent options. Mainoo and Iqbal should be given minutes instead of wasting a whole seasons budget on an area of the pitch we a covered. We need 2 bloody strikers never mind a midfielder!

Agreed. We aren't going to spend as big as last summer. The only reason we did was because of how badly we started the season. It then becomes a question of priorities and it is my belief that a £100m striker is of more use to us than a £100m midfielder. Especially so when we have the likes of Hannibal and Mainoo who should be given opportunities. Also - yes, we need two strikers. Not just one!

Mainoo is a great talent but that's all he is now till he starts performing at a much higher level.
Which is exactly what Bellingham was. It's all about being given an opportunity. If Bellingham came through our academy, he wouldn't have been exposed to as much first team football as he was at Birmingham and then Dortmund.

centre forward for sure, but we need a centre half as well, Varane is quality but unreliable, we are 12 or so games in, and he's had 2 different injuries already. The back ups we have don't cut it.

He is the perfect Bruno replacement. If we are serious thats what we should do.
Let's go spend 100 million on a player, to replace a player that don't need replacing. Thank God some of our fans aren't involved in the decision making at United.

Not really. It is incredibly rare for a player at 17 to be able to do what Bellingham did at that age. Its really not a question of opportunity, its a question of quality and maturity. The jump from youth level to first team level, especially at a bigger club, is immense. Clubs aren't stupid and they know their players better than anybody. If the youth ranks were full of players who could play like Jude Bellingham if given an opportunity, you'd see a lot more 17 and 18 year old players starting for first division clubs week in and week out.

One of the biggest constants in football is every fanbase completely overrating their academy players and their chances of becoming top level professionals.

It’s surely unarguably more difficult to play regularly for a top PL side at that age though. Even if Bellingham is indeed a top talent, he may not necessarily be more of a talent than a player in a similar position at a very top club.

There are simply several top players who Bellingham would likely not match who came through at top clubs who were not starting weekly at 16. Bellingham is not better than Gerrard because he started for Birmingham at 16 and Gerrard didn’t start for Liverpool at 16, for example. If he was simply that special, he wouldn’t have gone to Dortmund in the first place. He went to Dortmund because it’s an environment where he’d be given the chance to start. He avoided the likes of United and Liverpool because that was leas likely. Hannibal, who cost £10m as a 16 year old, didn’t take the quicker route of joining Dortmund or similar, he joined United almost certainly in the knowledge that it would probably take him longer than if he went to Birmingham City.

Gerrard had an amazing career that Bellingham is unlikely to match but he wasn't really a standout youth player, never making an England youth international team and not making much of an impression in his first season at Liverpool at 18 either. I think its incredibly unlikely that he would have been able to do what Bellingham did at 16 or 17.

Look at Hannibal right now. He seems to be having a promising loan spell but he is hardly dominating the Championship at 19, to expect him to have been able to go to BvB and be a regular starter and shining in CL knockout rounds at 17 is crazy given what we have seen from him.

None of this is to say that in the long run Bellingham is guaranteed to have a better career than Mejbri, Mainoo, or any other top prospect from another club. But very few players could have done what Bellingham did at 17.

A lot of rumours circulating on Man City forum that an insider on there who is regarded as a trusted source has said Bellingham has said “yes” to Man City move. No idea how reliable!

Unfortunately this is the move that has made the most sense for a long while.

Gundogan and KDB are both 31 and unlikely to maintain their levels for long, Bernardo wants to leave. City is going to look to refresh/rebuild their midfield next summer. Meanwhile, their transfer strategy has changed a lot in recent years, in that they've been willing to pay very high fees/wages for single players like Grealish, Kane, and Haaland, to a degree that they weren't in previous years. And from Bellingham's perspective, what is the most attractive destination? The only English club that can really guarantee the ability to compete for PL and CL over the next 4-5 years is City.

I think Real Madrid remains a possibility but City makes the most sense.

I mean you do have a point, and it’s not just at “19”, he have done it for a while now.

But ultimately that means that you got a really young player who is unique-ish in how good he was at a young age. Not someone today that is uniquely good at anything.
