Not sure it is actually true that we prefered Timber over Martinez, despite reports and rumours. EtH said very early on that he identified the left side of our defence as an issue that needed attention. Timber made less sense than Martinez.

I don’t think that having another garden gnome in defence would be wise. Martinez has done well but Timber is less aggressive so I think that could be an issue. The fact that arsenal will play him right back rather than CB is a good move, his strengths are carrying the ball into midfield and beyond.

The link says this:

United have paid a guaranteed €57.37m (£48.3m) for the Argentina international, with an additional €10m (£8.4m) in add-ons agreed between the two clubs.
Is that not what Cannonballs is saying, €57+€10 = €67m?

Arsenal are paying €40.5 + €4.5 = €45m.
