Think it’s all very premature personally. Think people need to sort through what is fact and what is speculation. We know Ten Hag has been interviewed, as has Pochettino. We also know that it seems to be quite public knowledge that majority of United fans, certainly on the internet, seem to favour Ten Hag. From there, there have just been loads of jumping the gun, daily updates as to who is in the lead and hypotheticals about which players ETH would like to bring - but I think the facts remain that he has been interviewed as have others. The rest seems like noise to me, and quite possibly all hot air due to the obvious appetite for such hot air at the moment.
Your stance is the sensible one to take.

Let's hope, we were one of the few clubs spending during the pandemic and we are going to miss out on the CL. I can imagine we wont be splashing this summer.
We spent big when we failed to get top 4 also, we'll probably wait to see if Pogba accepts our contract offer. If not, then we'll more than likely go big to make a statement and appease the fans that wanted Pogba to stay.

He would have problems with his height in the premier league, even the most idealistic of managers have had to acclimatise to the differences the PL brings, a 5’9-5’10 CB is not ideal however good on the ball he is or however fast he is, the goal should be to get a player with those qualities who is also 6ft plus.

Love how players that nobody seems to mention on here suddenly get a "this is your life" like analysis and expert opinions and are the perfect signing as soon as they get linked to us I dont even know him personally, not noticed him the very few times seen Ajax.

Not saying others dont, but why are so many of these linked players only mentioned and talked about so much when the press mentions them as targets.

Why on Earth would every footballer just be spoken of at length?

Well for a start the transfer forum rules require them to have been linked to us before a thread can be created.

So the question then becomes why the football forum isn't full of people discussing every random talented player in Europe who has no connection to us. I'm not sure how much in-depth discussion about individual young players you expect at that point. There's quite a lot of them.

Verweij: Ten Hag wants to take Timber with him to Manchester United.

So that's CB, DM and right back sorted.
Can't imagine him coming for those positions other than CB.

He has barely played as a CDM for Ajax even, I'm sure ETH will want a starting right back, whether internally or externally. Timber could be used in extreme injury conditions.

His contract will be expired in 2024, no way he will be too expensive. Our budget might be 50m but that's likely exceluded from the wages. If the likes of Lingard, Pogba, Mata, and Cavani leaves for free, that should give us 40m from their wages. If Martial leaves, his wages can fit in 2 players such as Antony and Timber.

Baresi would've been screwed.

He'll be ready maybe in 2 or 3 years but not now. Maybe he'll benefit from being in the squad.

Not a fan of his first name, and also not of his last. And in combination, something just doesn't sit right with me, with his name.

I don't think he'll be utilised at DM but wouldn't be surprised if he's utilised at RB in the EPL. And even if he's utilised at CB, then I see that as a positive as well, because that'll be us as a team showing intent to take the game to the opponent rather than sitting back in a reactive manner.

Not good enough at this time, should consider more established guys.

Hopefully we think beyond the next 5 games when targeting players. We have senior centre halves already, Timber is considered a world class talent, pursued by Barca, Bayern and City, and is in one of the few positions we have where a younger player can come and develop a bit more gradually. There’s room in the squad for a top young centre half.

If he comes in and starts poorly, he’ll instantly become our fall guy.

Hardly. He probably won’t come in and start at all. We’ll have two very experienced centre halves that will like start the season, and Timber will become a first choice over time in all probability.

Biggest talent in that Ajax team. Get him. Yes, he's young and yes he might have a few mistakes in him, but so have Lindelof, Bailly and Maguire. Future worldstar imo.

City would never go for him, unless they planned to play him right back.

Even though I rate him, prem football is a different game. The likes of Chris Wold etc will eat this kind of players alive, they dont care about high line, they bully on set pieces. He already is very suspect in the air that trait is very important in the premier league, wether we like it or not

Well forum rules fair point, but other threads like "centre back options"....cant remember him being talked about in there for example or a thread of young talents, yet gets linked with us and suddenly he is the answer. And personally, regarding forum rules, strange one to me as 90% of the people get linke dto us is clickbait or lazy journmalism on players we never held any interest in anwyay

Its just a general comment, I dont know the player, but I just find it funny how one week to the next depending on press reports there are often players nobody talks about beforehand suddenly become the right signing in people eyes and it seems solely from the press report with a lot of people, the word "sheep" is what I am saying basically

Ajax have only conceded 14 goals in the league this season. PSV are second to them with 34 conceded.

Maybe he's not great in the air, but they're obviously doing something very right defensively and it hasn't seemed to matter much if at all. If he was that bad you'd think teams would target that and put in cross after cross, but if that has happened it clearly hasn't worked on a long term general level.

While the EPL had changed in recent years, its still a predominately physical game as opposed to other leagues. What is considered a foul elsewhere might not be considered a foul in the EPL. Which is why having CBs that are tall and physical is indeed important. Not every tall CB is a top quality CB (ex Maguire) but every top quality CB we had was around or above the 6ft2 mark. Rio, Stam, Vidic, Pally and Johnsen are perfect examples of what I am saying.

I sincerely hope that ETH would hire someone he trusts that understands the EPL game. I'm hoping he'll be Stam or Rene TBH, whose got decent experience in coaching/managing in the EPL and can relate to the manager. I also believe that its time for specialist coaches to come in and help. While I am against giving jobs to the boys I do believe that these very specialist roles might be a good entry job for our former players to come into. I mean who can teach how to defend better then Jaap Stam or Rio Ferdinand, how to cross a ball better then Beckham or to score goals better then a RVP or RVN?

To be fair, it may take United 2-3 yrs to get competitive again anyway. Might aswell learn here under Hag.
