He'll be a good signing for Chelsea and should fill the Rudiger void quite nicely. Bizarre that he's been given a 5 year contract at his age though - smells a little bit like desperation.

Chelsea website says it’s a 4 year deal.

Don't think he'll be a star but equally don't think he'll be poor. Good signing with the holes they had, but not someone who will drive them to a PL and CL.

Overall strikes me as a 7/10 signing.
I have watched several football shows about football in general, every person raves about him. The only place I see these kind of statements is here. We will see. I didn’t want to get excited about the possible transfer because every year top clubs are linked to him but he never moved, and then it happened so fast. He has said that it was Mendy that convinced him that moving to Chelsea was going to be good. I am pretty excited about him coming.

He’s a great defender. I don’t think Napoli can replace him with the same quality. The only question mark I have is his fitness.

He is not the player he was years ago at the height of his powers. Still good, but he is slowly going down. Will be interesting to see if Chelsea can squeeze the best out of him for a couple of years. Their CB buys are usually pretty good.

Romano tweets about kimpembe talks between Chelsea and psg.

Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are in direct talks for Presnel Kimpembé deal. Initial request around €60/65m but Chelsea are prepared to submit €45/50m proposal. Work in progress. #CFC

PSG consider Kimpembé part of the project - but he can leave in case of good proposal.

He has become a bit injury prone in last 2 few years, he never competed more than 30 matches in Calcio in last 3 seasons.

I think Chelsea are targeting another center back as well so he should be fine with lots of rotation giving him ample time to rest.

He missed 5 games last season (4 in the league, 1 in the Europa) due to a bicep injury. That's it.

The rest of his missed games were either AFCON, suspensions or Covid.

He ended up starting 41 games last season for club and country. He might be shit, he might not settle in England but his injury record is no concern whatsover.

Yes I pointed that out. His game time has dropped roughly 10-12 per season over the past 3 years. He hasn’t actually managed 30.

Prior to that he was playing 35 league games plus extras.

Yeah, last season he missed 5 games due to bicep injury and the rest of his missed were AFCON, suspensions or Covid. But I just said that he has injured frequently in the last 3 years since 2019-present

And that's the history of his injuries in the last 3 years

Before 2019/2020 season, he was the iron-man of the game, he almost never injured.

And that's the history of his injuries before 2019-2020

That was pretty amazing from footballer, almost never injured. It's even amazing more, if you consider his aggressive stopper style of playing.

And I'm considering his chances of injured too, since he's 31 years old now and has injured a lot more in the 3 years compare to his 2011-2019 years, age has some effects of human durable for sure and EPL is faster and harder league than present Calcio. I still think Chelsea signing Koulibaly is a great signing and he will improve Chelsea backline and can be great Antonio Rudiger's replacement.

We're talking about him being more injury prone in the last 2/3 years, is it really fair to include Covid?

Every time I see him in CL I leave with the impression that he is a top 2 defender in the world. Not seen him play last season but I think there is a chance that Chelsea made a really great signing here.

Prior to last season it looked like he was dropping off from the machine who had consistently been Serie A’s best defender or thereabouts for several years. But he bounced back to his top level again so you’d back him to hit the ground running and for Chelsea to get a solid couple of seasons out of him.

The best centre back who'll move this summer other than possibly Rudiger. I don't know if he'll be better overall but positionally I think he's smarter, and as much as I'll miss Toni's one guaranteed rampaging run forward, skinning five players then narrowly missing out on a 40 yard wonder goal every. single. game (except Brentford!), Koulibaly's build-up play and long passing is on another level, with either foot.

Sub-£40m is nothing for someone in the top handful of centre backs around. BUT HE'S 31? So's Van Dijk and I'd happily take him at that price too. I'd double it for a 31 year old Thiago Silva! I hope Colwill will stick around and learn from these guys and Tuchel's coaching, I really think he'd be better off for it as opposed to a guy like Broja, who I think it's fair for him to want out right now as he can go elsewhere and get the chance to be the main man, bang in goals and launch himself into stardom.

Don't you wonder if Koulibaly's ability has declined? Here's an individual that you couldn't get for €100m two years ago but he's sold this year for €40m. I am perplexed how that happens unless Napoli know he's about finished as a top CB.

He had 1 year on his contract. Same reason Mane went for so little.

That makes some sense, but why won't Napoli try to resign him? Unless they did and he was looking for one last pay day somewhere else.

Sorry but who told you they didnt try to resign him. They offered him a new deal and a future role on the board

Again, same reason Mane left. Not so much looking for "one last payday" but wanting to try something newin a different league
Considering the size of the payday, it is both

Comes across really well. Already has a better grasp of the language than Ross Barkley.

He was at fault for the third goal too, failed to win a header against a midget because he went in half arsed. There’s definitely reason to wonder whether he’s another player to move past his prime from a weaker league and struggle to get anywhere near his past glories. You’d want someone a lot more dominant for that kind of money at his age.

Disaster in this game. He got beat so easily early in the game by that American kid which earned him a yellow. Was just downhill from there.

Too short for the PL. Anybody could have told you that.
