The only loser in all this is Kane.

He burns all his bridges with Tottenham. If City don't buy him (cuz they just spent 100m on Grealish), next year Mbappe and Haaland are on the market, Kane is 29, and he's still got two years on his contract.

God forbid he has a bad / injury prone season this year, he's going to be screwed.

Tevez disappeared for months then came back in great form for City.

Daniel Levy has made a mess of things ever since the stadium opened. Seemingly every decision he's made has been an unmitigated disaster. Poch was let go. Mourinho came and he left swiftly. Not before ensuring Delle Alli had the worst season of his life. Attempted to join the Super League. Leaves Tottenham in shambles outside the CL. Gets Paratici as sporting director, but seemingly couldn't find a top tier manager. Then loses all control of the Harry Kane situation.

Epic failures.
Kane situation is squarely on Kane, not Levy. The rest is all very much down to him though.

Normally I would say the player is wrong, however, Levy has previous. I feel really sorry for Harry because he does not seem like the kind of guy who would down tools. I think Harry might suffer from this but let's wait and see.
Why so much leniency for Harry? What is it about seem like he wouldn't down the tools? Isnt it the same guy who has been cheating the league and getting away with it for years with his "aerial duels"? The same guy that had a lengthy interview with Gary Neville on his situation?

What bad timing it is that City is their first match

At least after that he will hopefully put his big boy pants on and get on with his job.

I suspect though he will need to go public that Levy has broken his promises and he wants to move. The only way I can see him getting what he wants is completely destroying his Tottenham relationship and force himself out.

Just wow at this behaviour. Way to ruin any kind of reputation and legacy.

Also, what's the calculation and the end game here? After spending 100m on Grealish, does anyone really, realistically, see City coughing up something like 150m for Kane? And to be sure, that's certainly the minimum sum Spurs could accept to sell now, with the three years left on the contract and the antics he now made. Is the guy really that thick that he thinks things will work out fine for him after that?

Kane's disgusting behaviour will leave everyone damaged. Spurs should fine him his complete wages for refusing to show up for work, sue his arse while sidelining him and denying him an exit, and we will be happy to watch the little prick squeal.

You say that, but it seems quite obvious Levy told him he could go and is now reneging on that agreement. We wait to find out exactly what the side agreement is, if Kane has any sense he'll publicly tell us along with handing a transfer request in.

So Levy is the bad guy here, Kane just wants what was promised to him.

We don't know what was told but I think it's safe to assume that Levy didn't promise Kane he could go to City for a bargain price. A club can't accept this behaviour. Let him rot in the stands.

I feel like Kanes conversation with Levy upon return will loosely resemble this:

What happens when a player hands in a transfer request? Other than the player losing some money (loyalty bonus or whatever), it’s not like the club or it’s decision makers (Levy in this case) will suddenly be forced to accept the bid that comes in or is already in?

Exactly, just shows intent to leave the club. Don't think Kane's intentions need any more stressing, though.

Thats not what I meant ... Unless they plan on getting a wealthy investor, Tottenham can't dream of competing with City/United/Chelsea/Pool with or without Kane.

However they can be like Leicester who in the last 6 years have won the league and FA cup while selling one major player every year: Kante, Drinkwater, Mahrez, Maguire and Chilwell. In a few years, with a better manager and deeper squad who is to say they can't become a CL regular (not a title challenger) which lets face it is the best one can become without a wealthy investor.

In the last 6 years:
United have won 1 FA cup and 1 Europa.
Chelsea have won 1 League, 1 FA cup, 1 CL
Liverpool have won 1 League, 1 CL
Leicester have won 1 League, 1 FA Cup
Leicester's performance is really not that far from these clubs in terms of trophies.

sorry to be pedantic but leicester already have a wealthy investor. Their owner are worth 4 billion dollars. granted its not the 15 billion of roman at chelsea but its more than John Henry at the scousers (2.5 billion)

Ah, fair enough.

But you're not 100% accurate: Leicester won the PL with Mahrez and Kante and Drinkwater. Since then they have not been back in the CL. Kudos to them for winning an FA Cup, but they've failed to register a top 4 spot, talk less of challenge for the league, in every season since that magical season. So apart from more money in the bank, Leicester haven't really been able to capitalize on the loss of talent to bigger sides.

Tottenham, stupid bantz aside, have not been able to cross the threshold, but they've been more consistent in terms of being classified as one of the best teams in the league. And that's because of the likes of Kane (and Son and others). The idea of being able to flip Kane for a set of players that will leave Spurs better off in the short and long term sounds nice and FMesque, until you refer to what happened when they sold Bale to Madrid, and the subsequent influx of players (bar Eriksen) all flopped.

You say they have no hope of competing with 4 teams in the league, yet say they can aim to be CL regulars. England has 4 CL spots (less once I seize power). Who is Spurs overtaking in that lot, without the likes of players like Kane? With Kane, there's always a small chance. Without Kane, that probability sinks.

And I'm glad you've highlighted the fact that breaking into serious contention for trophies is impossible without a wealthy investor. Which is why I'm rooting for FFP's ultimate demise, bar a set of strict transfer/wage caps that limit the impact of money in the game for all clubs, both oil and so called "traditional big" clubs. feck the latter, in particular.
